It’s always uncomfortable at home, but today Aunt seemed to be in a particularly bad mood, so I decided to wander outside until things cooled down. 

With no specific purpose, I was walking around when I saw a high school girl in the same school uniform as mine under a streetlight. She seemed bored, playing with her smartphone. I vaguely recalled hearing rumors about her; she was a junior named Mika.

The rumors surrounding her were mostly negative. Rumors about engaging in compensated dating, being open to anyone, and such. I could have just looked away and passed her, but I felt she looked somewhat lonely. Perhaps for that reason, I decided to talk to her.

“Are you okay?”

As I approached, she shifted her gaze from her smartphone and responded disinterestedly.

“I’m fine. What do you want?”

“Oh, nothing in particular. I was just wondering if it’s okay to be out so late at night.”

“Thanks for your concern, but I don’t need it. So, are you going to buy me?”

“Buy you?”

She sighed and mumbled indifferently.

“Are you going to buy my body? That’s what I meant.”

“I see. That’s what you meant.”

It seemed the rumors were true. However, I only had 500 yen because I was planning to grab a quick meal outside. I wasn’t sure what the current rate was.

Taking out my wallet, I handed her the 500-yen coin.

“I only have this much.”

She burst into laughter as if I had told a hilarious joke.

“Haha, ahaha!”

I must have looked at her strangely. Indeed, it seemed 500 yen was not enough to “buy” her.

“Fi-Five hundred yen… Fufu, that’s funny. Ahaha!”

“I-I’m sorry.”

“Haa. You’re an interesting person. It’s the first time someone tried to ‘buy’ me with a 500-yen coin. Well, it’s fine. 500 yen is okay. It’s been a while since I laughed.”

Saying that, she took the 500 yen, stood up, and asked for my name.

“So, what’s your name?”

“I’m Satoru.”

“Alright so I call you Satoru-san. Call me Mika. So, what will you do? Shall we go to a hotel now, or do it at your place?”

Ah, I see. In this situation, I also needed to consider hotel expenses. I hadn’t thought about anything being my first time.

“Uh, is Mika’s place okay? I don’t have much money.”

“Haha, sure. My father won’t be coming home anyway.”
