“Although I’m lending a hand to sensei, can this be really called saving? Well…..it’s fine. If I slowly accumulate acts of hypocrisy, I might become virtuous eventually.”
After school, I was about to finish helping a teacher carry some things to the reference room at his request.
Misuzu had asked me to go home with her, but the teacher asked for help, and it couldn’t be helped since I responded quickly. I feel bad about it. I should apologize tomorrow when we meet and let her know that we can go home together.
No, I am sure Misuzu will call me this evening. I’ll tell her then.
The rays of sunlight coming from the corridor of the special building were thinning as the sun was going down.
As I was walking down the hallway, I thought to quickly return home.
“AAhh……..this is so damn frustrating!!”
A loud clang and the sound of kicking a chair could be heard coming from an empty classroom. Thinking something was wrong, I slowly approached and secretly peeked through the door to see what was going on, and saw an underclassman.
To my surprise, it was Sakura Kinoshita-san, who is well known in school and outside of school.
Seems like she is a voice actor and quite a celebrity. There is a good number of fans within the school, and even a fan club has been formed.
“What’s so cute about Sakura-tan? Don’t talk while spitting with a creepy smile on your face, fuc***g nerd. So disgusting. And that audio director won’t leave me alone. Don’t keep asking me for contact information. The manager is useless too. Everything sucks.”
“I hope that sh*tty teacher dies soon. He kept ogling at me. It was really disgusting. And those sh*tty parents are the worst. Just because I am a celebrity, going off on your own and thinking that you’re one too, truly scum.”
“I hope they all die.”
She was completely lashing out. Her cold voice made me think it would pierce through all of those involved.
…..It was wrong of me to watch this till now.
I thought so and quietly stood up to leave, but the floor creaked, as it was the old school building.
“Who is it?!”
Just as I thought it was a bad idea, she found out I was here and came running towards me.
“Yo-you are?”
“I’m Satoru, a second year.”
“Satoru-senpai…..Wh-What were you doing here?”
“I was on my way home after I had finished carrying materials to the reference room at the teacher’s request.”
“……….I see. So um….did you see?”
“Um..uh”
“You don’t have to lie. It seems like you saw it, right?”
“…..yes.”
Again she sighed heavily and clicked her tongue.
“It’s too late to pretend that the next job won’t involve a role like the one I saw earlier. What should I do? Should I scream now and label this person as a sex offender? But then, I might be accused of making a false accusation and get dragged down with him. Or maybe..”
She repeatedly mumbled horrible things.
I don’t want to go to jail when I haven’t accomplished my goal at all yet.
“It’s alright. I won’t say a word to anyone.”
“……..sighs. Do you think I can blindly trust your words? I am not a saint to trust the words of you, whom I just met today. What should I do?”
After much deliberation, she came up with a solution.
“Listen, Satoru-senpai. Are you my fan, Satoru-senpai?”
I was going to say that I was not a fan of hers, but after thinking about it for a few shuns, I decided to move in the direction of saving her.
“Actually, yes.”
“That’s good. Well then, would you like to be my conversation partner from now on?”
“Conversation partner?”
“That’s right. Someone to talk to. Of course, I’ll keep an eye on you too. Senpai will be happy to be able to talk to your idol. And I can watch you. A “win-win” relationship.”
As we talked, she said that we would meet once a week to check my phone and other devices in detail to see if I had told anyone about what I saw.
“Well then, I look forward to working with you from now on. Satoru-senpai?”
“I-I understand.”
I had no choice but to nod at her wicked smile.
