44_ The Price Of Lies
You say you’re in front of my house?
This got to be some kind of a joke …but then again, Kageno-san did say something like, she wouldn’t spew lies by herself, I think.
Can what she say really be true.
I don’t even know how she knows where I live.
Just why are you in front of my house this early in the morning. It’s not like she contacted me or promised to go to school with me.
Rather, even if we were going to go to school together, we will be there too early.
『 Can’t you come outside? 』
At any rate, things wouldn’t go any better without hearing directly from Kageno-san herself. She treats me well too, so it’s not like I would get into some kind of weird problem.
『 I understand. 』
Replying back, I changed into my school uniform and headed outside.
Since there was no way I was going to stand in front of Kageno-san in my pajamas.
Even though she is like that, Kageno-san is a beauty by herself after all you know.
When I opened the door, as Kageno-san said, she was really in front of the house.
“What’s wrong, Kageno-san?”
“… As I thought.”
“eh?”
Kageno-san stared at me with narrowed eyes. I wonder if I am dressed that strangely.
Since I had just woken up, I hadn’t washed my face, and have a sleepy look on my face.
With that in mind, when I touch my face….
“You lied to me yesterday, didn’t you.”
“Eh?”
“What ‘Eh’. This is supposed to be Hiroto’s house. But the person to come out is you, who was at the cafe yesterday.”
Ah, I forgot wearing my glasses. I have not worn them once since I received them from Kageno-san yesterday at the café.
Which would mean I lied to Kageno-san …now I’d done it.
The important thing, those glasses, were probably kept by my bed-side.
I had let my guard down. Even though I had only confronted Kageno-san with glasses on only.
“Why did you lie to me?”
“Ah, uh, eh, well…”
“I don’t want to hear any excuses.”
“Indeed, Kageno-san is right, I am Uminagi Hiroto. The very person who received the glasses from Kageno-san yesterday at the café.”
“As expected.”
“And the reason…I can’t tell you.”
I can’t tell Kageno-san the reason why I was wearing the glasses. After all, I have promised Akane.
After all, I can’t break a promise made in the past.
“…You mean there was a reason you lied to me?”
“Yes, correct. And I’m sorry.”
“I see…”
Kageno-san is probably fuming right now. Being lied to is not a pleasant feeling after all, and it has a direct bearing on the relationship of trust between both individuals.
“I understand. I won’t ask you further regarding to that anymore.”
eh, you’ll let me off the hook?
“But I can’t let you get away with it for free. After all, you have deceived me, This Eminence in Shadow-sama.”
Of course she’ll not going to let me go off the hook. And it does make sense as well. I must do what I can do till my capacity.
I conveyed that intention directly to Kageno-san.
To which, Kageno-san smiled satisfied and crossed her arms with mine after some thought.
“Then, let’s see. I will have you go on a date with me in the near future.”
