When an Oblivious Handsome Older Man Went Back in Time and Was Building Harlem - Chapter 6
The fifth period is in the afternoon. The subject is Math 2.
“The answer to this equation A, hmm… Itou, can you answer it?”
“Yes.”
After becoming an adult, I realized the joy of studying and devoured my high school textbooks, so Math 2 was easy for me. However, I didn’t want to fail the class, so I stayed awake during it. Despite the post-lunch drowsiness that made most of my classmates fall asleep, only about seven of us, including Itou Yuzuha-san, stayed awake.
“This, is…”
Muttering that, Itou-san sways unsteadily.
(Ah, she’s falling.)
Thinking that, Itou-san leaned back against the chair and collapsed.
“Eh, wait, eh! Hey, are you okay!?”
Even though there’s a math teacher, the one who’s younger than me is flustered and panicking. I’ve taken care of drunk people and those who collapse from epilepsy, so I think I can handle this better than this teacher who can’t do anything in a panic, and I head towards Itou-san’s seat.
Her eyes are open, and there’s spontaneous breathing. Her pupil size isn’t changing either. The pulse is fast, so it’s probably anemia.
“Itou-san, can you respond? If you can, please nod.”
When I spoke to her as gently as possible, Itou-san nodded slightly.
“Is it cold?”
Nod.
“Do you feel suffocated?”
Nod.
“If it’s hard to answer, you don’t have to, but is it your time of the month?”
…Nod.
I asked the last question in a low voice because it might be difficult to answer. I’m just an amateur, but judging by the way the question was phrased, it must be anemia.
“Sensei. I’m going to take Itou-san to the infirmary, so please continue the lesson without worrying about us.”
“No, I’ll go with you. Everyone else, please study on your own for a bit.”
It seems the teacher is coming along. I prepare to take Itou-san to the infirmary.
“I’m going to take you to the nurse’s office, so I’m going to touch you a little.”
I wrapped the blazer that Itou-san was wearing around her waist to cover her underwear and then carried her in a princess carry. When I did that, Itou-san was holding onto my shirt, so she might be relatively conscious.
When I did the princess carry, the teacher next to me went “Whoa” or something. If you have time to say that, you should open the classroom door.
“Sensei, could you please open the door?”
“Y-yeah, that’s right.”
And so, I carried Itou-san to the infirmary and laid her down on the bed.
“You have palpitations and chills, and since you just got your period, I think it’s probably anemia.”
The school nurse said.
“Well… even if I look at her health check-up records, she doesn’t have any symptoms of epilepsy or anything, so I think it’s just anemia. But if she doesn’t feel better in five minutes, I think we should call an ambulance. Um…”
“I’m Takai.”
“Takai-kun, thank you for carrying her. It’s fine for both of you to return to class now.”
Since the school doctor thanked me, I gave a slight bow. For me, it was just a reflex from my days as a police officer, so I can’t really say anything.
“I see… well then, please take care of her.”
The teacher said that, and bowed, so I followed and bowed as well before leaving the infirmary. By the time I got back to the classroom, I had been told about three times how amazing I was.
“No… that’s not true.”
“That’s amazing. I could only flail around. I feel reassured knowing that even if I collapse, you’ll be there.”
After saying that, I laughed to lighten the mood and returned to the lesson.
=========================
The bell signaling the end of the fifth-period rings, and the class ends. During the break, while preparing for the sixth period, Itou-san returned. I’m relieved to see that she’s feeling better.
“Takai-kun, thank you for earlier. Here, this is a jacket. I heard from the health teacher that you went out of your way to make sure my underwear wasn’t visible.”
“It’s nothing to worry about. I’m glad to see you’re feeling better.”
To tell the truth, for some reason, Itou-san’s face was slightly flushed.
“Yeah. I don’t think it’s as cold as it was earlier. But I caused a lot of trouble, so let me treat you to a juice later.”
“…Hmm. Juice is fine. I did it on my own. If you’re going to buy juice for me, I’d rather you drink the iron-fortified juice.”
“…Got it. Thank you for earlier.”
When Itou-san left my seat, she always joined the group she was with. It’s good to see her looking well.
At this time, from Midori,
<You’re making a girl fall for you again>
<What a sinful man lol>
I think it’s only natural that I got annoyed by that message and ended up being harsher on Midori during club activities.
