Chapter 41: Lucius…Or Should I Say Lucia, Glares at Me
I only planned to sleep for about an hour, but I must have been more exhausted than I thought—I ended up sleeping a lot longer.
As I stretched and looked out the window, the sky was already beginning to brighten.
It seemed I had slept for nearly an entire day.
I guess I was completely worn out.
Still groggy, I left my room and headed downstairs.
Alice was probably in the study on the first floor.
She’s usually there, reading books alone.
This mansion really is too big, I thought again.
It’s just Alice and me living here now.
Well, until recently, Mylene also lived here, but Alice kicked her out a few days ago.
Since then, the relationship between Alice and Mylene has been quite strained.
Alice’s reasoning was that the mansion felt too crowded with Mylene living here.
To be fair, Mylene did often invite her fellow beast girls over to the mansion, and they frequently stayed the night.
They’re all grown now, no longer children.
From an outsider’s perspective, they are clearly young women.
So, it’s not like they could just sleep in my room like they used to.
That’s why Mylene ended up moving to a place nearby.
But…now that she’s gone, this empty and quiet atmosphere feels a bit strange.
Especially since it’s just Alice and me alone in this huge mansion, I feel a bit on edge.
After all, Alice is usually silent, and since she dislikes me, I can’t really start conversations with her.
Occasionally, she’ll appear out of nowhere, staring at me with an expressionless face.
Thinking about that, I realized that yesterday…no, the day before, Alice had been unusually talkative. If she were always like that, things would be a lot easier for me.
While these thoughts were running through my head, I opened the door to the study, and, as expected, Alice was there.
I don’t hate books, but Alice loves them even more than I do.
Well, she used to be royalty, so it makes sense that she has a strong intellectual curiosity.
Before I knew it, the study had become overflowing with all kinds of books.
Even though it’s technically my study, it’s essentially become Alice’s.
Seeing her in her maid uniform reading books might seem strange to others, but Alice’s intellectual aura cancels out any awkwardness, making her blend seamlessly into the scene.
“Master…You’ve woken up,” she said, tilting her head slightly and smiling at me.
As I thought, Alice seemed to be in an unusually good mood for some reason.
I couldn’t help but admire her beautiful face as I considered that.
Maybe now I could finally have that conversation about my escape—no, the liberation of Alice and the others—that we left unresolved earlier.
But just then, a girl peeked out from behind the bookshelf.
She had short, light brown hair and wore a maid uniform just like Alice.
She was a bit younger than Alice, but her beauty was on par with hers.
When she saw my face, she quickly averted her eyes, looking awkward.
Huh? I wondered.
There shouldn’t be anyone else but Alice in this mansion.
Alice has always hated having other people around.
“Um…who is she?” I asked.
“Oh, she is the one from earlier—” Alice began, turning to the girl.
The short-haired girl was glaring at me in silence.
Confused by her intense gaze, I looked over at Alice, who cleared her throat.
At that, the girl flinched and said, “I-I’m so sorry…Miss Alice…”
She bowed her head deeply.
“You should apologize to Master, not me. Go ahead, thank him for sparing your life. Or do you still need more discipline, Lucius…or should I say, Lucia?” Alice said.
“Ah! I-I’m terribly sorry!” the girl stammered, clearly terrified of Alice. She seemed to tremble with every movement Alice made.
Wait, what!? Is this girl Lucius?
But…Lucia?
“Thank you…for saving me earlier, despite my terrible rudeness…” the girl said.
It seemed that the girl in front of me was indeed Lucius—or rather, Lucia—the protagonist from earlier.
Her name wasn’t the only thing that had changed—her entire demeanor was different now.
Dressed as a maid, she looked unmistakably like a girl—a very cute one at that.
However, her words were clearly forced, as if Alice had made her say them.
Well…considering she’s been stripped naked and enslaved, it’s no surprise she holds a grudge.
While I was at a loss for how to respond, I suddenly heard a loud voice from outside.
“Alice! I know you’re in there! It’s Mylene. I have something important to talk about, so come out!”

Chapter 42: Accused of Leading the Heroine to Darkness
It seems like Mylene has come to the mansion.
There’s a bit of a hurried feel to it…
Alice lets out a big sigh and mutters quietly, “That girl again…It’s Mylene. I thought I made it clear the other day who’s more suited to be the main wife, yet she still doesn’t get it…”
“I deeply apologize, Master. I’ll go…have a little fight—no, talk—with Mylene, so please wait here for a bit,” Alice says, walking toward the entrance.
Lately, this has become the usual between Alice and Mylene.
They used to be such close friends, always together, but now there’s a considerable distance between them.
I guess the difference in their races plays a bigger role than I thought…It makes me feel a little sad.
When they were kids, those things didn’t matter, but as they became adults, it’s something they couldn’t help but notice.
I don’t think Alice holds any prejudice against demi-humans, but maybe there’s some kind of invisible wall between them.
Reality isn’t like a novel or a manga where things work out perfectly.
In my case, I didn’t reincarnate into some cheat life where I’m surrounded by beautiful women living in a harem. Far from it—look at this mess.
Even now, I’m faced with a bitter reality right before my eyes.
A beautiful girl is glaring at me with a look of pure disgust.
Now it’s just me and Lucius…no, Lucia, alone in this awkward atmosphere.
“Uh, so your name is not Lucius, but Lucia?” I ask after a moment of silence.
Lucia mumbles, “Lucia…that’s my real name. Lucius was just an alias…It was more convenient that way.”
“Oh…I see…”
Lucia’s expression remains dark and heavy.
In the game, Lucius was a naive, energetic character from the countryside, a typical hero type—optimistic and lively. But now, none of that is present.
This might be Lucia’s real personality.
And honestly, she looks pretty natural in her female form now.
As I observe Lucia in her maid outfit, she suddenly snaps, “Y-You…What do you plan to do with me, dressing me like this? Did you make Princess Alice wear something so indecent too? Did you force her to do disgusting things?”
Her face flushes red as she covers herself with both hands.
Her body trembles slightly.
It seems she has completely misunderstood me.
Well, I guess I can’t blame her.
The maid uniform she’s wearing is the same provocative design that Alice always wears.
But…in my defense, I didn’t originally make this maid uniform.
Well, I did, but technically, it was Linus who made it before I reincarnated.
There was no other female clothing available, so I had no choice but to give Alice this maid outfit at the time.
At first, Alice hated it, but for some reason, she grew to like it a lot over time.
I’ve tried suggesting she wear normal clothes, dropping hints here and there, but…
She’s still stubbornly attached to that maid outfit.
Even after she grew and the outfit no longer fit, she ordered multiple custom-made versions from the same vendor to match her size.
Still, this maid outfit was designed for Alice’s body, so it shouldn’t fit Lucia, but…it actually suits her surprisingly well.
I didn’t notice earlier because of the situation, but…
Lucia has quite a slim figure…or rather, a very feminine body.
My gaze unintentionally drifts toward Lucia’s chest, which is peeking out from the maid uniform—
“Y-You really are planning something disgusting…Just like you did with Princess Alice…and now, you’re targeting m-me…”
Lucia becomes even more wary of me.
“D-Don’t come any closer…Even if the slave crest binds me, I won’t let you do whatever you want. I won’t be treated like Princess Alice, whom you dragged into darkness with your vile acts—”
Tears well up in Lucia’s eyes, but she looks at me with a determined expression.
“No, I didn’t do anything to Alice—”
“There’s no way you didn’t do anything! Princess Alice was a kind, beautiful, and graceful woman! But now she’s fallen into darkness…And that power—”
Lucia suddenly seems to recall something and starts trembling uncontrollably.
It looks like she’s terrified of Alice’s power.
Well…it makes sense. Encountering what’s essentially the final boss—no, something beyond the final boss—at an early level is enough to traumatize anyone.
I quietly watched Lucia for a while.
Then, she looks at me with fierce eyes and says,
“What did you do to Princess Alice?”
