Chapter 11: I Never Wanted to See the Hero Beg for His Life to a Minor Character
Why has Alice, who once had a pure heart and was the embodiment of the light attribute, fallen so deeply into darkness?
Wait…could it be my fault?
Has her hatred for me grown so strong that it led her to fall into darkness?
Alice’s profile, as she looked to the side, was as beautiful as ever.
But I couldn’t help it. I averted my gaze from her, trembling.
Then, I looked at the Holy Sword. The flames that had been enveloping it had already subsided.
However, the sword itself had completely vanished, not even leaving a shadow.
It had been utterly erased without a trace.
Could such a small flame really have burned up the Holy Sword?
Just how much magical power had she infused into that?
If it had been a larger, higher-level dark magic, what kind of destruction could it have caused?
And if that had been directed at me…
My body shook involuntarily with fear.
Lucius, who was standing right in front of Alice, must have been far more terrified than I was.
At that moment, something in Lucius snapped.
“No, no…please…stop!! I’ll give it back…I’ll return it!! Please, just…”
He screamed desperately.
Then, light suddenly began to radiate from one of Lucius’s hands, and soon after, a mysterious light started to emanate from Alice’s body as well.
It was like watching what had happened earlier in reverse.
“Ah…it’s back…the sacred bond between me and my master…ahh…it feels so calming…I can feel the presence of my master inside me…”
Alice’s face looked dazed, her expression full of ecstasy.
She gently stroked her lower abdomen, where the emblem was engraved, as if confirming something very precious.
I also felt it—the Slave Crest had returned to Alice’s body, and she was once again under my control.
Alice remained in that state for a while, seemingly savoring the moment.
After some time, she returned to her usual blank expression and released her grip on Lucius.
Lucius, losing his support, collapsed on the spot.
His face was smeared with blood and dirt, a pitiful sight.
His helmet must have been knocked off somewhere, leaving his slightly long brown hair draped over his face.
Because of that, the once brave and gallant image of Lucius had faded, and now he looked more like a delicate maiden.
In fact, Lucius sat there in a shy, feminine posture, fidgeting as though he were embarrassed.
As for Alice, she had lost interest in Lucius. She turned her face away from him.
Then…Alice looked at me.
I couldn’t read her intentions.
I wasn’t even sure what had just happened before my eyes.
But one thing I knew for sure was that Alice had completely defeated Lucius, leaving him in shambles.
And the Slave Crest was still on her body.
In other words, I was saved…wasn’t I?
“Master…”
Alice’s beautiful, elusive blue eyes were fixed on me.
At first glance, she didn’t seem angry.
But…no, she was definitely angry.
Nobody enjoys having their will forcibly controlled by another.
“Master, what do you wish to do with this one? It seems he’s still breathing…”
“Uh…well…that’s…”
I looked at Lucius again.
His eyes, lifeless, stared blankly into the distance.
His face was filled with a mixture of terror and despair, emanating a void-like emptiness.
“Alice…Princess Alice…why would you do this…”
Lucius muttered, his voice filled with hopeless curses.
Not only words but also blood dripped from his mouth.
“This…this can’t be happening. I was just told to save Princess Alice…why is this happening to me…I don’t want to die…I don’t want to die…”
Suddenly, Lucius began to sob like a child right before me.
His speech pattern had changed drastically.
Compared to how he spoke earlier, Lucius now seemed much more childlike.
Looking back, his behavior before had felt strangely exaggerated.
Well, since the lines were straight out of a game scenario, I suppose you could say he was acting the part.
But even so, it felt forced…like he was playing a role.
I hadn’t noticed it before because I was too focused on surviving, but now that things had calmed down, I could see that Lucius didn’t look like a brave hero at all. He seemed more like a young girl…no, a boy.
…Lucius’s character was supposed to be a little younger than Alice, so it made sense that he appeared so youthful.
Lucius may have been my enemy.
But despite that, seeing him now, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy.
After all, it could have easily been me begging for my life in his place.
“This one is weak, but he seems to possess some strange powers. I suggest it would be better to dispose of him here…”
Alice calmly suggested something horrifying without a hint of emotion in her voice.
Hearing that, a chill ran down my spine again.
Of course, Lucius was even more terrified by Alice’s words. He trembled and seemed to be on the verge of panic.

“No…I don’t want to die…I don’t want to die…Please…I’ll do anything…Ahh…”
Lucius writhed desperately, but it seemed he no longer had the strength to move. All he could do was tremble helplessly.
“Ah…ah…I can’t…anymore…”
Suddenly, Lucius’s behavior became even stranger. His face quivered as if he was desperately holding something back.
“Oh no…it’s…it’s coming out…”
Lucius let out a suppressed voice. Then, his lower body began to get wet…
It seemed that Lucius had wet himself out of sheer terror.
Seeing Lucius in such a miserable state, I felt no pity. Instead, I imagined myself in his place. In fact, I even felt a strange sense of kinship with Lucius. After all, when Alice nearly activated her dark magic on me earlier, I also…well, I may have leaked just a little…
Lucius may be the protagonist in the game, but he’s also a human being. He cries in fear and begs for his life just like anyone would. Just like me.
“…It would be cruel to leave him like this any longer…I’ll end it now—”
“W-Wait! Alice!”
I suddenly found myself filled with a strong resolve. I couldn’t help but think of stopping Alice, no matter the cost. Unintentionally, I ended up activating the slave crest on Alice again.
“Ugh! Ahh…it’s happening again…this feeling…”
Alice’s face twitched, and she let out a stifled moan. Her previously expressionless face now twisted into one of agony—or was it…pleasure?
“N-No…I’m sorry, Alice…I didn’t mean to…”
“I-It’s fine, Master…I’m just surprised that you’d use the sacred mark again…heh…it caught me off guard.”
Alice gave a sly smile as she said this. Was she being sarcastic? I wasn’t sure. I pretended not to notice her strange smile and said,
“Ahem…well, um…about this guy’s fate, could you wait a moment? I need to think about it.”
I cleared my throat awkwardly as I spoke.
“Understood. However, Master, with all due respect, it might be best to hurry. This one doesn’t seem to have much longer to live, anyway.”
Alice crouched down and examined Lucius’s body.
Then, without hesitation, she began to remove Lucius’s damaged, broken armor.
And…Lucius’s abdomen was exposed.
I gasped in shock.
Lucius’s abdomen was turning an ugly, dark color.
Looking at Lucius’s face, his breathing had become labored, and at some point, his expression had turned ghostly pale.
Even to my untrained eyes, it was clear that Lucius was in terrible shape, just as Alice had said.
“My apologies, Master. I usually hold back…but since this one tried to take the sacred crest between you and me, I…I may have forgotten to control myself.”
Alice bowed her head deeply as she said this.
“I-I see…”
I nodded, trying to seem like I understood. But in reality, I had no idea what Alice was talking about.
I still couldn’t understand why Alice was so hostile toward Lucius. As I nodded, I stole glances at Alice, trying to figure it out.
At least, for now, Alice didn’t seem to hold any hostility toward me. On the contrary, she seemed to be talking more than usual, and her mood even felt strangely…high.
Could something have happened to Alice? Perhaps when Lucius tried to break the slave crest, there was some sort of side effect on Alice…
To be honest, I didn’t know much about the slave crest. In the game, it was only mentioned in the early event involving the “Slave Trader,” and it wasn’t brought up again afterward. The power to break the slave crest, which was meant to be Lucius’s proof as the protagonist, never played a role after that.
It seemed like one of those half-baked powers the creators threw in without much thought. Well, most game and novel settings are usually like that, so I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time.
But now, this hastily-made plot point might very well hold my fate in its hands.
“…Master…”
“H-Huh?!”
At some point, Alice had come right in front of me.
Alice looked up at me with her big eyes and said,
“Is there something on your mind? You’ve been watching me for a while…And today, after so long…you’ve used the crest on me multiple times…”
She peered at me with upturned eyes.
Her delicate maid outfit was slightly dirty from the earlier fight—though calling it a “fight” would be a stretch since it ended so quickly and one-sidedly.
Upon closer inspection, her already short skirt had risen even higher, revealing Alice’s smooth, seductive thighs.
The frills on her chest had also torn slightly, revealing her full, voluptuous chest in a daring way…
I hurriedly averted my gaze from Alice’s body and looked at her face instead.
