What’s under Kamiyama-san’s paper bag?
Chapter 25 Kamiyama-san wears a swimsuit.
Blue sea. White sandy beach. The scorching sun! It’s the perfect summer season.
In front of me, the endless blue sea stretches out. I’m wearing a blue swimsuit that reaches up to my knees, standing on the sun-drenched sandy beach. After the Bon Festival, the beach is sparsely populated, with only a few groups visible in the distance, and the beach is empty.
It’s been since elementary school that I came to the beach. I remember being surprised back then that the sea tasted salty.
As I reminisce about the past, I hear Kamiyama-san’s voice from behind.
“Ohhh, here I a-a-a-am! …Sorry for keeping you waiting…”
When I turn around, I see Kamiyama-san approaching me with a slight jog, wearing a swimsuit. Kamiyama-san is wearing a white bikini.
The white top that was supposed to fully cover her chest couldn’t contain her large breasts, making it look like a mini bikini.
Instead of her usual brown paper bag on her head, she’s wearing a white paper bag that matches the color of her swimsuit.
It has torn holes for the eyes, and her bright, wide eyes peek through them, capturing my attention. With each step she takes, her large breasts bounce, and her ample buttocks sway.
Each movement of her head causes the paper bag to rustle, making Kamiyama-san criminally attractive in various ways. Kamiyama-san runs towards me, stopping in front of me, lightly adjusting her almost bursting white swimsuit and paper bag with her fingers.
I was captivated by Kamiyama-san, particularly around her chest. Perhaps noticing my gaze, Kamiyama-san timidly brings her left arm around her stomach and hesitantly opens her mouth.
“…Um… Please don’t stare at me like that…! I’ve gained weight recently, and my stomach…”
“I’m sorry, Kamiyama-san. I wasn’t looking at your stomach at all.”
Kamiyama-san is shyly rubbing her stomach in front of me. Her large breasts are resting on the arm that she’s using to rub her stomach, resembling a pose from a gravure idol, but she seems unaware of it. Thank you, stomach! But now is not the time to thank Kamiyama-san’s stomach. I should explain why I’m here. The whole thing started with a comment from Arai.
“Summer vacation is coming up, so wouldn’t it be great to go on a training camp?”
It was after school on a day nearing the end of July when Arai suddenly said that. We had just finished our club activities as usual and were getting ready to go home. I asked Arai for clarification.
“A training camp?”
“Yeah, other clubs go on training camps during summer vacation, right? So, why don’t we, the Conversation Club, go on one too?”
The activities of the Conversation Club involve practicing conversations. We can do that without going on a training camp. Besides, it’s honestly a hassle to stay overnight for club activities.
“Can’t we just gather here for a few days during summer vacation and do our usual activities?” Arai strikes a rather classic pose of being angry, placing both hands on her hips and puffing her cheeks.
“What are you saying, Kominato? There must be conversation practice that can only be done during a training camp.”
“I don’t know… I think we can just practice here as usual.” As I hesitated, Harusame, who was standing next to me, spoke up. “A training camp… a training camp, huh… I-I also agree. There are practices that can only be done far away.”
I asked Harusame.”For example, what kind of practices?”
Harusame let out an exaggerated sigh and approached me. “Listen, you idiot Kominato. Got it? When it comes to summer training camps, it’s either the sea or the mountains, right? If we take A-chan to the beach or the mountains, we’ll create more memories with A-chan! By doing that, the range of our conversations will expand, and my everyday life will become easier!” Saying that, Harusame confidently tapped the life-sized panel of a magical girl that was placed next to her.
I responded to Harusame’s proud statement with a deep sigh. “First of all, you should learn to talk to people other than A-chan.” Harusame’s face turned bright red, and she leaned in so close that our noses were almost touching.
Her slender bangs swayed, brushing against the tip of my nose. The faint scent of shampoo tickled my nose, making me feel a little flustered.
Unaware of my flustered state, Harusame continued with her face still red.
“W-Well, eventually, that’s what we’ll do! But it’s a bit challenging to start talking to strangers all of a sudden, you know…! I can already talk to A-chan, and I’ve become able to talk to you guys a little bit too! So… if we all go out together and have various conversations… then surely, eventually!”
“Alright, alright, calm down.” Ignoring my attempt to calm down the excited Harusame, she continued to babble on.
“S-Someday, for sure… for sure, I’ll be able to talk to the sea and the mountains too!”
What on earth is this person saying? It seems like even she doesn’t understand what she’s saying anymore. Harusame, shifting her gaze from side to side, continues further.
“First, the sea… yes, the sea! I will be able to have conversations with the sea! Then, the mountains! And the sky! I will rule over land, sea, and sky! Finally, space! I will become one with the universe… I…”
Alright, Harusame is beyond saving. I want her to return my flustered state to me. I step away from Harusame, who continues muttering about space as if talking to herself, and ask Kamiyama-san.
“Kamiyama-san, do you want to go on the training camp?”
Startled by the sudden question, Kamiyama-san stiffens and speaks in a small voice from inside her paper bag.
“U-Um, I-I also… want to try going on the training camp… maybe. Going to play and stay overnight with everyone… well, I haven’t done that before… um, of course, the training camp isn’t just for fun…”
As she says that, a drop of sweat drips from the tip of her black hair, peeking out from the paper bag. Going to play with everyone, huh? If I think of it not as a training camp but as a trip to have fun, maybe it won’t be so bothersome. During the long summer vacation, I might just waste my time at home every day. In that case, it wouldn’t hurt to go, but I realize there is one problem.
“Are all three of you in favor? If so, I can go too, but I’m worried that at this time of year, we won’t be able to secure accommodations. Moreover, it’ll be limited to places that accept high school students for overnight stays.”
In response to my question, Kamiyama-san raises her hand.
“Um… My uncle runs a guesthouse near the sea… and he always invites me to come and play after the Bon Festival because it’s not busy then… but I wonder if that would be okay…”
Securing accommodations seems to have been easily resolved as well.
“Well… in that case, shall we go on the training camp?”
“Yeah, let’s go!”
A smiling Arai responds.
“Hehehe, yes… I want to go on the training camp too!”
Kamishima-san looks delighted. “All the gods of the universe! I am here! Now is the time to become one with me!” Harusame says, but I already knew she was beyond saving.
I wanted her to return the favor of making me flustered. I receive an extra paper bag from Kamiyama-san, lean out of the window, and approach Harusame, who is shouting something with her hands spread wide in the sky. Then, I open the paper bag and gently put it over Harusame’s head. Surprised by the sudden darkness, Harusame exclaims, “Th-This place…! Is it… space…?”
“Welcome back, Harusame-san. This is Earth.” And so, we decided to go on the summer training camp.
