- Chapter 62 - Brat, and Assault!
“…Mm.”
One hour after dinner ended. As expected of a child, Nana was getting sleepy. Even though she was good at staying up late, recently she’d been living a healthy lifestyle.
Thanks to that, her internal clock was probably becoming accurate. Children grow while sleeping. I placed my hand on her head and said:
“Nana, if you’re sleepy, go to your own room and sleep. Children can’t grow big unless they sleep a lot.”
“…Sleep here.”
“What are you saying?”
“Being alone in my room is lonely. I want to be with Papa…”
“Nana…”
Her words gave a glimpse of past hardships. Even though I was the one who saved her, normally she should hesitate to call me Papa. I thought she definitely wouldn’t call me that, but Nana had completely warmed up to me.
Even now, she might be acting spoiled toward me like a child… like a daughter.
“If you refuse, I’ll snitch on you to Princess Iris. That Papa said weird things.”
“I take back what I said. You’re a brat, Nana.”
Give me back my emotions. A daughter shouldn’t threaten her papa. Also, there were too many applicable incidents, so I was trembling in fear about which one would be exposed.
Well… just for today would be fine. It would be troublesome if Nana was found by Lycoris too, and it was safer for her to be with me… maybe?
I shrugged with a “good grief” and rolled her onto the bed. When I covered her with a blanket, she closed her eyelids with a comfortable expression.
I could hear cute sleeping breaths.
“She looks completely like a child when sleeping… but when she talks, she’s strangely cunning.”
That was all the Assassin Guild’s fault.
Surely their abuse and speech patterns had caused Nana to grow in strange directions.
I wouldn’t consider that her personality and speech becoming intense was due to her involvement with me. I wasn’t at fault.
Saying that, I also sat down beside her.
I went on a date today too… I was a little sleepy. I’d be sleeping earlier than usual, but sometimes sleeping deeply and living lazily wasn’t bad either.
I stifled a yawn and sluggishly rolled down next to Nana.
Like this… we looked just like parent and child.
“—Hello? Is the person called Yuu-san here?”
…Hm? A strangely familiar voice came from the direction of the door.
Right after thinking that—BOOM!!!
The door was blown away with a tremendous roar. It crashed through the window glass and fell outside.
I hurriedly jumped up from the bed.
Looking toward the entrance, there stood a blonde woman with vertical curls, her fist clenched. A maid was behind her.
And more than anything… I recognized her face.
“Y-you… Lycoris!?”
Why was Lycoris in my room? Actually, what would you have to do to blow away a locked door?
From the looks of it, she knocked and blew the door away…? As usual, she had ridiculous brute strength.
“Oh my… I put in more spirit than expected. It was supposed to be a knock, but I ended up punching it.”
“My lady… that’s going too far. We’re guests, not terrorists.”
“Terrorists!? I don’t think I did anything wrong just now! It’s the responsibility of the royalty who installed such a fragile door!”
“Could you say that to Princess Iris’s face?”
“…S-sorry…”
Lycoris immediately became teary-eyed after being talked down by the maid.
That endlessly stupid-seeming woman was definitely Lycoris Flambeur Prominent.
The talent she possessed was… ridiculous physical enhancement.
While I and Iris could use mana for things other than enhancement, she could only do physical enhancement.
But her upper limit exceeded even Iris’s.
A complete ultimate gorilla. That was her true identity.
“Please apologize to that gentleman over there. This is that person’s… Yuu-san’s room.”
“I’m terribly sorry… I gave the door a tiny tap and it broke. Let’s find the craftsman who made such a fragile door. If we show them this devastation, they’ll make a more sturdy door for us!”
“Your Highness.”
“Yes… truly, I apologize from the bottom of my heart…”
Lycoris was seriously apologizing to me.
Bowing her head to a man of unknown origin—Lycoris had a humility that didn’t match her appearance and muscle-brain thinking. Rather than humble, she was good-natured.
As I said before, instead of blaming the craftsman who made the door, she wanted to have them make something even sturdier. She was that type of person.
However, this was bad… Right now I wasn’t wearing my mask. I had completely let my guard down.
“N-no… it’s no problem. Please go back quickly.”
I hastily turned my face to the side, but the situation was one step away from the worst case.
Why did this woman know my room? And why was she trying to enter?
My heart pounded rapidly. Even in this situation, Nana was sleeping peacefully. Bold!
“…Huh? Your face… so that’s how it looks under the mask. Please show me more clearly.”
Lycoris said that and entered the room.
Panicking that this was bad, I stripped the blanket from Nana and covered my body.
I felt just like a bagworm.
