- What If the Strongest Villain from the Original Story Became the Protagonist's Ally?
- Chapter 54 - Eccentrics, and Getting Away
“—Huh?”
Jack stared in stunned amazement at his own broken hand.
His feet stopped, exposing his defenseless state before me. When I drove a kick into his wide-open abdomen, Jack was easily blown away until he crashed into a distant wall.
Jack fell to the ground with a clatter as the wall crumbled. He screamed while groaning in pain.
“Whyyyy is thiiiis happeninggg!!”
His earlier refined gentleman’s tone vanished as he roared like a ferocious beast.
“Why… why is my arm broken!? How can you… keep up with my speed!?”
“You took a hit and still don’t understand? That I’m the same as you? Wrong, wrong.”
“Wh-what!?”
“Could you see my movements? You couldn’t, right?”
“—!”
Jack was struck speechless, having been hit right on the mark.
That’s right. He couldn’t follow my movements. That’s why it felt like his arm suddenly broke, and because he didn’t understand, his thoughts stopped and his movements stopped too.
What this represented was one thing.
—I was stronger than Jack.
“How can I accept this…! To someone like you! Losing to someone like youuuu!!”
“Hahaha… someone like me, huh.”
Ignorance must be bliss.
If I revealed my true identity to this Jack who looked down on me, just how would he despair?
I could release my magical power. But if I did that, Iris would notice I was doing something. The best option would probably be removing my mask after all.
However, it would be troublesome if Jack escaped by some chance. This guy was reasonably fast at running away. I didn’t think he could escape from me, but speaking in terms of possibilities, it wasn’t zero.
“For now, I’ll have you restrained. I want information, so I recommend you speak obediently. You don’t want torture, right?”
You like inflicting pain on others. It’s a given that scum like that hate being on the receiving end.
If by chance you were a perverted bastard who was into both, then it would be fine for me to make you suffer thoroughly.
Thinking that, I stepped forward—immediately after.
“Sigh... good grief.”
A man’s voice was heard from overhead.
Looking up at the building’s rooftop, multiple men and women were standing there. I didn’t recognize their clothing or faces.
“That bastard was going on about individualism, but he’s losing. What do we do? Kill him?”
“Settle down, idiot. Even so, Jack is a capable guy. It would be a shame to lose such a valuable piece here.”
On top of the building, a scrawny guy with tangerine-like hair muttered while laughing “Kihihi,” and a man with a gorilla-like face in the center rebuked that muttering.
There were others too—a woman in a dress. A suspicious person wearing knight’s armor. Four enemies total. Even including Jack, five people would be no problem.
“But what should we dooo? Miki agrees with helping Jack-san, buuut… that masked person is super stronggg, you know?”
At the dress-wearing girl’s words, the gorilla-faced man pondered for a moment. During that time, I called out to them.
“Who are you guys? Street performers should hurry off to the town center or something.”
“…Sorry, but that man there is our comrade. We can’t abandon him. For the sake of our upcoming plan.”
“Plan?”
The gorilla-faced man said this with a cool voice and expression.
However, he apparently had no intention of answering any more of my questions, as he suddenly raised his right hand and gave instructions to the other members.
Everyone moved simultaneously.
“Masked Onii-san, let’s play with Miki and the others!”
“Draw sword.”
Two assassins came down to me.
One was the dress-wearing girl. The other was a person whose entire body was covered in full plate armor.
Moreover, this full plate assassin was a woman inside. I could tell from her voice.
She drew a sword-like weapon from the scabbard at her waist and drove a sharp strike at my neck.
I avoided it by leaning backward slightly.
“—!?”
The full plate woman apparently hadn’t expected me to dodge her attack, as amazement transmitted from inside her helm.
“What’s wrong? Don’t tell me you thought you could kill me with that turtle-like sword drawing technique?”
One staple of these types of novels—sword drawing technique.
I believe in this work, it was a technique passed down in the Far East, and the sword she carried was probably made by a Far East craftsman too. Yet she’s wearing full plate… that’s why her movements are slow.
“If you want to kill me, at least take off the armor.”
I drove a palm strike into the full plate woman. The impact was absorbed by the full plate, but since I put a reasonable amount of magical power into it, she couldn’t defend completely.
The armored woman flew away at a ridiculous speed. She crashed into a wall and collapsed to the ground.
“One down. Next is…”
I glared at the other dress-wearing woman. She shouted in a panicked manner.
“Bad bad bad! This Onii-san is stronger than we imagined! We have to escape quickly!”
She had already fled from the scene. The fallen Jack had also been recovered from behind, and—
“…Tch. Fast at running away. And… they’re as good as beasts at erasing their presence…”
Jack’s comrades who had suddenly barged in vanished like smoke.
Even though I was the final boss, I couldn’t easily pursue those whose presence had disappeared. Next time I find them, I’ll remember… I’ll definitely render them unable to act.
