- What If the Strongest Villain from the Original Story Became the Protagonist's Ally?
- Chapter 51 - Instant, and Disappointment
Iris announced the signal for the match to begin.
At the same time—
“Go! You guys! Silence that insufferable man!”
Conrad-kun loudly gave instructions to his two guard knights.
“Yes sir!”
The guard knights kicked off the ground as instructed. Their heavy armor clanked slightly as they came before me.
“Prepare yourself!”
They readied their swords while speaking. As expected of a duke’s son’s guards, their sword forms were clean.
A strike swung down from above aimed straight at my head. They probably calculated that their armor would absorb all my attacks. That’s why they could use big techniques.
Normally using big techniques would be forbidden. Unless it was a considerably strong move, big techniques had gaps proportional to their power.
However, the knights wore heavy armor that wouldn’t budge against wooden swords. Unless I could produce enough power to penetrate that, no matter how many openings there were, it would be meaningless.
For now, I blocked one knight’s attack with my wooden sword. The other knight circled to the side and swung his sword.
—Their coordination was also solid. They moved like they were fairly battle-experienced.
But I avoided that attack by stepping back. Due to their armor, the knights’ movements were slower than mine.
“What are you doing! It’s two against one! Hurry up and defeat that man!”
Behind us, Conrad-kun raised his voice angrily after seeing just one exchange.
I shouldered my wooden sword and—
“Hey hey, the match just started, Conrad-kun. Aren’t you getting a bit too impatient?”
—provoked him again.
Red angry emotions appeared on his face. His whole body trembled slightly as—
“Wh-what did you say? You bastard…!”
He was clearly furious. Was it okay for someone who was a duke’s son to be so short-tempered?
While worrying about this country’s future, I caught sight of the knights approaching me again.
“Focus on us now!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll defeat you properly.”
This time I also kicked off the ground.
“!?”
If the opponent was approaching, I’d deliberately approach too.
The two knights widened their eyes in shock, but there was a difference in experience. Without panicking like amateurs, they swung their swords.
When I guarded that powerful strike—I kicked the knight’s abdomen with my right foot.
My kick easily penetrated the knight’s armor. The impact reached his skin, and one knight was easily blown away.
“Guaaaaah!?”
The knight rolled while clanking his armor. Looking down at him, I blocked the other knight’s attack and—
“Now the sword.”
I deflected the opponent’s sword and continuously struck his armor with my wooden sword.
The attacked knight’s armor was scraped away, leaving marks that didn’t seem like they could have been made by a wooden sword. Finally, I blew away the other knight too, like with a baseball bat.
Both the earlier kick and this slashing attack were impossible with my raw physical abilities, of course. So how did I get my attacks through? The answer was simple—magical power. Magical power solved everything.
Magical power became power, and power destroyed everything. As expected, only power mattered.
“Something like that, I guess? Isn’t that enough, Conrad-kun? Match over. I win.”
The rolling knights groaned and couldn’t stand up.
No wonder. One had the impact reach his body and was writhing in agony. With the weight of armor, he took damage when he rolled too.
The other knight should have taken even more damage than the first after being beaten up that much. If he hadn’t had armor, I wouldn’t have gone that far, but they were unlucky guys.
“What… what! Stop messing around!! I can’t accept these results…!”
“Why is that, Duke Conrad’s son?”
“Princess Iris!”
Iris, who had been serving as referee, approached the complaining Conrad-kun. Even a duke’s son was at a disadvantage against Iris. He was flustered and troubled.
“Yuu-san properly achieved victory according to the rules. Why can’t you accept those results?”
“Th-that’s… he used… that’s right! That man definitely used dirty tricks! Otherwise there’s no way he could win against two of my guards…”
“Sigh… so that’s your opinion, Duke Conrad’s son.”
At Conrad-kun’s words, Iris let out a truly exasperated voice and sigh. The gaze directed at him seemed to contain contempt.
“That’s enough. Let’s go over there, Yuu-san.”
“Ah. Is that okay? Princess Iris.”
Iris pulled my arm.
Leaving the downcast Conrad-kun behind, we began moving toward the edge of the training ground.
“It’s fine. Using dirty tricks from the start, yet throwing a tantrum when you still can’t win… it’s shameful behavior for a Kingdom noble! I’m disappointed.”
“How harsh.”
While I agreed with that opinion completely, I understood his feelings a little. Because of that, I couldn’t honestly blame Conrad-kun.
Well, I’d beaten him up mentally, so he probably wouldn’t bother me annoyingly anymore. Thinking that, I’d now deal with Iris.
…As expected.
