We are pretending....right? - Chapter 14- House visit~2!
Sumire couldn’t remember when the last time she was this nervous, as she was today. Not even during her entrance exam results or when she met her dentist for the first time.
She indeed was maintaining a calm front but inwardly, having a boy inside her house when they were all alone was not something she could have ever thought about in her wildest dreams when she was leaving her house in the morning.
It was Sou seemed kind of depressed after she asked him about her mother which made Sumire invite him for lunch but now she was rather thinking about whether she did the right thing.
She indeed trusted Sou but he was a boy after all who would find this situation a lot in his favor if he wants to attack her. And despite having a big mouth, Sumire was not strong at all to protect herself if something like that happens.
Her brother would also be not returning anytime soon, so her mother did as well. In case Sou’s teasing personality turns into something savagery Sumire could only pray for what might happen.
It was rather her instincts that made her cautious since outside of the house she has relatively built a slight connection with the guy who currently was in her kitchen, preparing food for both of them.
Sumire was sitting on the dining table while gazing at his wide back while pondering on the matter at hand.
“Sumire-san, can you help me with the soya?”
Summer flusteredly got up from her seat before she dashed toward the fridge and took out the soya bottle she had recently bought from the sale market.
“Here.”
Handing it to the cook, she didn’t immediately go back since it would have been a rude gesture considering that despite Sou being a guest here, he was cooking for her and she was not even present around him to help.
She inched herself higher by supporting her weight on her toes to peek inside the saucepan, only to see boiling spaghetti there. The other pan had some cabbages and other sorts of things that were getting fried which let off a drool-worthy aroma making Sumire forget her previous banter and ask Sou in impatience.
“How long will it take?”
“Just some minutes. Here, try this and tell me if it’s cooked-Fuuu*”
Taking out spaghetto from the saucepan, he blew over it before leaning slightly forward and offering it to the girl who took it with a rather embarrassed look while gazing slightly below Sou’s face intently for some reason.
Sou didn’t know the reason why she seemed to be blushing a little as well but soon he let go of the matter and continued with the preparation. It was so hot in the kitchen that he thought to throw away his shirt but knowing whom he was with, he just stopped himself by unbuttoning the top two buttons only.
Thanks to the apron which was providing some space to air pass inside his shirt and let him cool off as much as he could.
It took almost ten more minutes before he walked to the table where Sumire was sitting while doing something on her phone.
“Here you go…”
Placing the plate filled with Miso Butter Pasta with Tuna and Cabbage, Sou went to sit opposite the girl who currently was entirely focused on the food with her eyes sparkling with happiness. Sou failed to even catch when she turned off her phone and placed it aside.
“You made something so complicated with just those ingredients? I am more than impressed.”
Sou smiled being complimented before he urged the girl to start eating before it gets cold.
With a hurried “Itadakimasu” Sumire picked chopsticks apart before she began twirling the spaghetti with it which finally landed inside her mouth.
“Oishiiiii~”
Pinching her chopstick in her small fist and the other hand dabbing the table in excitement, Sumire exclaimed the compliment after just taking the first bite of the food making Sou’s smile to widen.
Even if it was nothing too exquisite and fancy he prepared but seeing her happy smile and hearing a different synonym of delicious with each of her bites made Sou glad that he came with her and made food for the girl.
Earlier when she was being restless all around the place, Sou was rather troubled since he didn’t want to see Sumire being tensed, at least by him. Thanks to the food which landed at the exact taste he wanted it to be, Sumire was now a lot more relaxed, and her natural smile has returned to glow her beauty as well.
Sou had prepared ice lemonade with freshly squeezed lemons and lots of ice which he brought in between the lunch. The taste of the meal was amplified by the drink making Sumire swoon wholeheartedly and want this meal to never end.
She was extremely delighted to eat something like this after so long. Her mother cooked well but because of lack of time, she had prepared whatever she could in them, and most of the time she delegated the role of lunch to Sumire. And since Sumire didn’t like to eat out as well, it indeed was a hearty meal she was having after a long while.
“Thank you very much for the meal.”
Planting the glass on the table with a strong thud intimating those actors who slam their vodka tumblers on the bar table, Sumire was done with the food, and her plate was left with no single spaghetti or any veggies at all.
“I am glad I cooked for you.”
Sou smiled at the adorable display before he took the dishes and walked to keep them in the sink when Sumire followed behind him instantly.
“Please leave the dishes for me. I will wash them later.”
Sou asked with his brows raised, “Are you sure?”, to which Sumire vigorously nodded and invited Sou to the living from which was just after the dining space.
After being seated they began chatting about school and stuff, mostly related to the upcoming festival and half-yearly exam which would follow. Both of them didn’t have bad rankings with Sumire being in the top ten and Sou among the fifteen.
“Sumire-san, you read books, right? What kind of books do you have?”
Suddenly Sou remember that the place he met Sumire on Sunday was a bookstore. Sure she was not browsing some fiction or normal reading lover’s choice but it was a way for him to see things. She seemed rather familiar with the place that’s why he asked.
“Yeah, I do. I mostly read fiction and-wait. Why not I show you my collection? Come to my room, there are a lot of shelves packed there.”
Due to being in a comfortable atmosphere ever since she had that delicacy, Sumire entirely forgot all her cautious behavior and why she needed to be on guard in front of the boy as the girl stood up and began walking out before suddenly a warm and rough hand took a hold of her wrist.
“I don’t think that would be a great idea…”
