We are pretending....right? - Chapter 10- Confrontation!
Sumire knew that it would be a hassle to introduce this flashy Sou to others since this version was a lot standing out character. Evidence was the number of gazes she received on the way she was walking to the school with this new add-on beside her.
Well, it was understandable that her best friends would be shocked to see this changed Sou being introduced as her boyfriend. But this…
“EHHHHHHH??”
“Calm down guys. It’s not that surprising to shout like this…”
Sumire covered her ears as she spoke those words in slight annoyance to see the huge agape of their mouth like they were brought face to face with some alien object.
Akari looked at Sou closely and tried to recall the face of the only student who interacts the least in the classroom despite being with the section for more than two months already. She pretty much talks with everyone in the class yet she has only a few encounters with Sou to count, however, it didn’t mean Akari was completely clueless about his face.
On a closure look, he…did seem like the Sanada Sou she has been classmates with since this year, however before Akari could have confessed her discovery, it was the short-haired guy who walked forward and stood just a couple feet apart from Sou with his gaze narrowed at the tall boy.
Kabura was by no means short since having a height of 5’9 cannot be considered so, but compared to Sou, he still had to tilt his head slightly to look at the guy in his eyes.
Sumire slightly panicked to see the distance between them and the current aura surrounding Kabura. The same goes for Akari as well. However, Sou seemed quite relaxed even though he was being glared at by Kabura who by no mean was a weak boy.
In contrast, Sou had a leaner physique to the point that a sporty guy like Kabura might hide Sou behind him if the latter crouches down.
The tension in the air rose as Sumire and Akari gulped and readied themselves to jump in if things goes downhill
“Just by looking at you, I can tell that you are not a person to take dating and stuff seriously, and as the best friend of Sumire-san, I don’t approve of your relationship with her.”
It was not a request. Far from it. What kabura just let out through his gritted teeth was an order which had no route of refusal Sou could walk upon. It was intended to be accepted by Sou right here and now.
At first glance, Kabura could tell that this flashy guy was not someone who would remain loyal to only one girl. True he is more handsome than Kabura, but that single factor tells the difference between a keeper from a playboy. And this guy in front…seemed one of those from whom Kabura would definitely try to protect Sumire from.
Akari had her eyes spread wide in astonishment and the courage she found in Kabura’s words to outrightly command Sou to break up with Sumire. And as for the girl in question, she had a mixed expression of shock and annoyance as she stared at Kabura in contempt to act like he owns her or something.
But the person who was directed with those words was still as nonchalant as ever like he was immune to all the intimidation Kabura was trying to enforce upon him.
With his neck leaning to the left Sou spoke in an uncaring voice surprising the other three, “And just because you are her friend, it gives you the authority to decide whom Sumire could date or not?”
“Yes, it does.”
Kabura, despite sounding shameless, didn’t give a mind what Sumire might think of him when he explicitly said those words. He knew how Sumire hates controlling people but if it saves her from someone like Sou, then that would be worthy enough as compensation.
Sumire’s anger had already risen up to her boiling point and she was about to give a piece of her mind to Kabura, but suddenly a warm hand enveloped hers as she saw Sou grabbing her hand and sending a meaningful glance at her, asking her to stay put for a moment.
“It’s true that you are Sumire’s best friend and as I can assume you don’t like me very much…but do you think I or Sumire give a single crap about your opinion? I am dating her and that’s something you can do nothing about. Now it’s your choice whether you live with that fact or not…but whatever you do, don’t try to cross the line next time, understood?”
It was time for Kabura to be taken aback as he heard the heavy tone in Sou direct his words with. He kept his stance firm but inwardly he was startled to see the sudden change of atmosphere around the boy which was not helping either. It made Akari gulp in fret for some reason seeing the gaze Sou currently had.
What she saw in them was pure…vexation.
Sumire was surprised as well, since the time she began talking with Sou on a regular basis, despite being short, he never talked in such a way nor she has seen him this pissed about anything before. He seemed a completely different person…and kind of hot as well.
‘No, no, no…what am I even thinking…get a hold of yourself Sumire!’
“Now if you will excuse me.”
Sou walked ahead of Kabura without making any physical contact with Kabura, with Sumire still being held by his hand. Kabura did see their joined hand, but at the moment he could do nothing about it since the homeroom was about to start and most of the students has already been seated when they were conversing.
Naturally, most of the gazes were on either Sumire and Sou or Kabura who was standing in front of the class like a sore loser.
“Ah, Kab-”
Before Akari could have called him, the short-haired guy walked out of the classroom with a grim expression that even the incoming teacher didn’t dare to interrupt the boy.
Reaching up to her seat, Sumire felt the warmth from her wrist fading as she saw Sou turning toward her, with his previous expression completely wiped off, like it never existed in the first place.
Leaning forward, under everyone’s curious gaze, Sou whispered intimately in Sumire’s ear before he walked away for his own seat, leaving a stunned Sumire behind.
“During lunch break…I will be waiting for you on the rooftop…”
