Today was exactly one month since the end of the regular test.
I had suffered a serious emotional trauma because of the incident with Minase-san, but thanks to Ellen, I was recovering quite well.
I can only thank her because I can say that without Ellen it would have been difficult to recover so quickly.
After that, nothing unusual happened, and I went about my daily life as usual.
“Well then, everyone, don’t forget to turn in your career choice survey forms before you leave.”
I had heard Himemiya-sensei talking about this in homeroom before I left, and I remembered that today was the day for submission.
Well, I had completed it long ago, so all I had to do was submit it to Himemiya-sensei.
After homeroom was over, I went to put the Career Prospectus on the teacher’s table.
Everyone started submitting them one after another on the teacher’s table, but there were a few classmates who did not get up from their desks.
“…I’m pretty sure those guys forgot to complete it.”
Apparently there were some people who hadn’t filled it despite today being the submission date.
Today, I was on day duty and had to take the Career Prospectus to Himemiya-sensei’s desk in the staff room, so the presence of some of my classmates who have not filled out the form was very annoying to me, as I wanted to go home early.
Anyway, I went to the shoebox and told Ellen, who was waiting for me, that I was going to be late today and that it was okay for her to head home first.
After about 20 minutes of waiting, everyone had turned in their forms, and I started to head to the staff room to turn them in.
“Himemiya-sensei, I have brought the forms.”
“I see, today’s day duty was Kaito-kun, right? Thank you. Leave them there for now.”
“Got it.”
I placed the bundle on the desk as instructed.
Then, as I was leaving the staff room, Himemiya-sensei called out to me.
“It looks like you were number one again in the regular test the other day. You also got a perfect score on my basic chemistry test, you’re really amazing.”
“Thank you very much. I’m studying hard, in case you’re wondering.”
I was a little embarrassed by the compliment, but I told her so.
I started studying because I wanted to win at least one thing from Alan, but now it has become my identity.
“There was a lot of talk in the staff room the other day about Kaito-kun. They said you are a really good student.”
“I’m extremely happy to hear that.”
“I’m really proud of you as a homeroom teacher and that you are my student.”
Hearing Himemiya-sensei, I replied while holding back a grin on my face.
She was as pleased as if I was her own student, which made me really happy.
“Oh, Also. Do you have any freetime after school next week, like any particular day?”
“I could make time for you any day of the week, but what’s up?”
“I need some advice for my class from Kaito-kun, who is ranked first in his grade. Actually, it’s a shameful thing, but I’ve received more than a few comments about my classes being hard to understand….”
Himemiya-sensei changed her happy expression from a moment ago and started talking about this with a serious face.
If you ask me, it is true that Himemiya-sensei’s classes may be more difficult to understand than those of other teachers.
However, it has only been six months since Himemiya-sensei graduated from university, so it was inevitable that she was inexperienced at teaching.
“If you are okay with me, of course I’ll cooperate. I don’t have any club activities or part-time jobs, so I’m basically free after school.”
“Kaito-kun, thank you. I’m really grateful because I’ve been having so much trouble with it.”
Hearing my words, Himemiya-sensei smiled and replied.
I couldn’t help but admire her beautiful smile.
Up close, Himemiya-sensei’s face is truly a beauty, so much so that one will almost blush.
“Then I’ll ask for next Monday for now. I’ll be waiting for you in the chemistry room on the third floor after school, so bring your basic chemistry textbook, workbooks, and notebooks.”
“Got it. I’ll be in your care moving forward.”
Next Monday after school I have to remember that I have an appointment with Himemiya-sensei.
With these thoughts in mind, I left the staff room and returned to the classroom.
Then, with my luggage in hand, I headed for the shoe box to leave, and I was quite surprised to see a familiar figure there.
“Oh, Kaito-kun, you finally came. I’ve been waiting for you.”
“Ellen, you didn’t go home yet?”
It had already been more than 30 minutes after school, and to my surprise, Ellen was still waiting for me.
I had told her it was okay to head home first, but she seemed to have waited for me because she really wanted to go home with me.
Then Ellen and I started to leave as usual, both of us side by side, and the first thing she did was to ask me why I was late.
Since there was no particular reason to hide it, I decided to answer.
“Today was the day to turn in the Career Prospectus, right? I was on day duty, so I had to collect them all and bring them to the staff room, but there were a couple of guys who didn’t fill it. That’s why it took so long.”
“I see, I think I saw someone in my class writing in a hurry.”
“I knew there are guys like that in every class.”
We were talking as we left, but I couldn’t seem to get the image of Ellen’s expressionless face out of my mind for just a moment when I told her that I might not be able to go home with her next Monday because I had an appointment with Himemiya-sensei.
