Seeing that Shion’s delicate brows were arched in utter indignation, I gently stepped in to smooth things over.

“It’s only natural the members would feel that way, you know? If some guy they don’t know suddenly tried to join, of course they’d hate it. Don’t worry about me.”
“B–but! I’ve told them over and over how incredibly strong you are and how amazing your instruction is! You were also one of the key figures in sealing away the evil god—how could they reject you like this? I absolutely cannot accept it…!”
“Come on, you don’t need to stick your neck out for me like that. I mean, as a favor to my cute disciple, I was totally willing to join, but… well, if everyone’s against it, forcing my way in just wouldn’t be right, you know?”

Putting on a little performance about how I’m not the bad guy here, but what can you do, I played it up just enough in front of my disciple, and in my good mood, I wound up making a suggestion I hadn’t really thought through.

“—Anyway, since we came all this way, how about I have a quick spar with the knight order today? Just for practice. We can ignore the whole joining-or-not issue.”
“T-that would no doubt be extremely educational for the members, but to trouble you like that right after they were so rude to you is…”
“Naturally, I want to fight you too, Shion.”
“Then let’s do it, Master, right away! As in, right this second!”

The response was instant.

Shion had always loved sparring with me back in the day, and it seemed that part of her hadn’t changed at all.

“So then, Master, what kind of sparring format did you have in mind?”
“Let’s see…”

If we were doing this anyway, I wanted to show off a bit here, make them think, “So that’s Shion’s Master—he’s no joke,” and raise Shion’s stock in their eyes. That was the whole point; all for my adorable disciple.

It was absolutely not because I wanted to be stared at in admiration by a bunch of gorgeous girls. Absolutely not.

Still, with over a hundred members, fighting them one at a time would take way too long.
A group battle seemed more practical.
Something like the entire order versus me alone.

…But then I’d run into the problem that every last one of them was a top-class succubus.

As I was wondering what to do, an idea suddenly popped into my head.

“…All right. In that case, I’ll take you all on at once. Blindfolded.”

The members stirred, a low murmur running through their ranks.

They probably thought I was looking down on them, but that was absolutely not my intention.
If anything, this was the result of treating the Succubus Knight Order’s potential as a maximum-level threat.

I couldn’t really explain the details, but this was the only way to protect my dignity as a Master.

While the members were buzzing, Shion alone looked at me with sparkling eyes.

“I see! A true strong one has no need to rely on something as crude as sight!”
“Well, you know, it’s, uh, that thing. The, uh… that.”
“As expected of you, Master!”

And so, I ended up tying a towel tightly over my eyes and taking them all on.

…However, once the spar actually started, it turned out to be way tougher than I’d imagined.

For one thing, as you’d expect from succubi, everyone smelled incredibly good.
It was like someone had taken that faint, fluttering scent you catch when a beautiful girl’s hair sways as she walks past, and cranked it up to the maximum.

It was as if each and every one of them had a natural body scent made entirely out of high-class perfume—sweet enough to make my head spin.
On top of that, with my vision cut off, my sense of smell was several times sharper than usual.

To make matters worse—well, I couldn’t speak for the other members, but Shion in particular had gotten seriously strong.
Compared to me before I was sealed away with the evil god, she might not even be comparable anymore.

Good thing I’d trained so much in subspace.

Even though the fight was far rougher than I’d expected, I managed to keep that fact hidden from everyone to the very end.

Without letting their attacks so much as graze me, I took on Shion and the others all at once and wiped them out.
