Traveling With a Beautiful Girl - Chapter 50: Limit
After lunch, Nanase and I strolled around the Garden Park. In the Flower Plaza, pink cosmos bloomed all over the place, breathtakingly beautiful.
“What’s the flower language of cosmos?”
“It varies by color.”
“Hmm, so what about pink?”
“Girls’ innocence.”
“Girls’ innocence…that’s not what I expected.”
Stumped by the unexpected answer, I anticipated Nanase to respond with something like, “What kind of fantasy are you spinning from cosmos, you pervert.”
It was different.
“…Indeed.”
That’s all she said.
Afterward, we visited the Flower Art Museum. The museum was a Western-style building that looked like something out of a fairy tale, covered in colorful flowers. The garden was filled with numerous flower beds centered around a large rose arch, offering a variety of colors to enjoy.
Something was written on the explanatory plate about this garden being modeled after the one created by Claude Monet, a French Impressionist painter.
I thought Nanase would be interested in such knowledge, but… Nanase didn’t even glance at the explanation. She had been engrossed in reading at the Hamamatsu Museum.
“Aren’t you going to read this? It’s quite interesting.”
I asked her, expecting her to respond with something like, “It’s unusual for you, Takahashi-kun, with zero desire to learn.”
It was different.
“I’m not in the mood.”
That’s all she said. Then we went on the Garden Cruise. Just as the name suggests, it’s an attraction where you can leisurely view the park’s nature from a sightseeing boat.
“It feels like a date.”
I casually mentioned that, hoping for her usual response. Something like, “What are you saying all of a sudden? Are you stupid?”
Yet again, it was different.
“It might be.”
That was all she said. Throughout, Nanase had been like this. I couldn’t help but be certain that something was indeed off. The Garden Park was vast, and as we visited each area one by one, the sun began to set. My mood fell proportionately.
When it was about evening… We climbed the last spot we left, the observation tower. The tower was located almost in the center of the park, and it was quite tall.
It might be about five stories of a building. Therefore, we could overlook not only the park but also Lake Hamamatsu.
However, it was a cloudy day. The view from the observation room was generally gloomy. It was just like the atmosphere between Nanase and me.
“We can’t see the sunset today because it’s cloudy…”
I deliberately tossed the words out. The sunset is Nanase’s favorite scenery.
Today, for the first time, Nanase showed clear emotions on her face.
“That’s…really disappointing…”
Nanase looked downcast. ; It was obvious that there was something else, besides the inability to see the sunset, that was bringing down Nanase’s mood.
When we descended the observation tower, the sky seemed ready to burst into tears.
Both in terms of time and weather, we decided to save the amusement park for the next opportunity and headed towards the bus stop.
I walked down the dimly lit promenade with Nanase, darker than usual for the time.
…I had reached my limit.
Near the entrance at the Flower Plaza, I broached the topic.
“Is something wrong?”
