Traveling With a Beautiful Girl - Chapter 48: Next Morning
The sky on the following day was covered in suspicious clouds for the first time since our journey began. According to the weather forecast, it seemed like the Tokai region was going to be hit by rain from the evening.
“Alright, let’s go!”
In front of the ticket gate at Hamamatsu Station. Contrary to my enthusiasm about heading towards a new world, Nanase seemed somewhat absent-minded.
“Nanase?”
“Ah, I’m sorry… I was just spacing out a bit.”
“Lack of sleep?”
“I had a full 7.5 hours of sleep today.”
“That’s the amount of sleep for a tired day. Well, considering the distance we traveled yesterday, it was quite something.”
In addition, we played at the beach and had various dramas with Kanade-san, there’s no doubt we burned some calories. She’s probably still tired.
… While I assumed that, I felt something was off with Nanase since yesterday. Even when we were eating dinner, or when we had checked out and were walking to the station, she seemed somewhat absent-minded. Since it wasn’t beyond the stage of ‘I feel like’, I didn’t ask anything specific and continued the conversation as usual.
“I chose Hamamatsu, so it’s Nanase’s turn next. Is there anywhere you want to go?”
“The underworld.”
“Is that so?”
We’ve had heaven, hell, the other world, and now the underworld.
“I’ll ask for a place in this world.”
When I responded as usual, Nanase muttered, “I see…” with a somewhat sad expression, and began to contemplate.
I suddenly felt a sense of discomfort at her appearance. It seemed like Nanase was hesitant to go anywhere rather than being troubled about where to go. It’s just my imagination, right? Ignoring my unnecessary worries, Nanase voiced her request after a few minutes of thinking time.
“I want to go to Lake Hamana, which we briefly mentioned the day before yesterday.”
“Oh, it’s the 10th largest lake in Japan.”
“……Seeing that you remember it that way, it seems I can’t expect much.”
“I’m sorry, I remember. Let’s go eat some eel.”
“You can’t seem to remember the scope of the test, but I’ll give you credit for remembering our promise.”
Nanase, as always, made her comments with a bit of poison, but there was a subtle color of joy on her face.
I was relieved, it’s the usual Nanase, and sighed in relief.
