The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Only after taking many pictures of the display did Daisy realize she unintentionally left Caspian. When she raised her head from the camera, she saw him capturing the majestic castle walls.
The castle walls were very far from here already, but a good photo can come out depending on the photographer. Besides, Caspian was the one taking a picture of that.
‘I’m sure the picture will come out just nice.’
Daisy stared at him before deciding to steal a shot of him. Click! Her camera shuttered. A fascinating picture of him came out of her shot. It was like a drug on its own.
She stared at it for a full five seconds before pulling out from her reverie.
“Very handsome….”
An involuntary comment came out from her pink lips. When Caspian heard it, Caspian automatically turned his head in her direction. But she was looking down at her camera.
‘She must have taken a picture of a handsome guy.’
Caspian smiled and approached her. He tried peeking at her camera, but Daisy suddenly hid her camera behind her back. She didn’t expect him to be walking silently over the stone floor.
Caspian became shy when he realized he was looking at someone else’s privacy. He scratched his head and apologized.
“Oh, sorry. I got curious, so I wanted to take a look.”
“Ah… yes.”
They became awkward again, just like the atmosphere between them earlier.
Caspian didn’t know what to say, knowing that it was his fault for peeking at something that wasn’t his.
In order to lighten the atmosphere, Caspian decided to talk about their assignment.
“What do you think about our assignment?”
“Ah, about the old times?”
“Hmm.”
“I was wondering how ancient people were all artistic themselves. Even without modern knowledge and materials, it was a wonder how they could make things like these on display.”
“People of the past were more intelligent than modern people. If they didn’t exist, we wouldn’t be here standing.”
Daisy nodded her head in agreement.
Humans have a long history. In that history, it was narrated how they overcame all the challenges and dangers they faced. It was more difficult to live then, yet they found a reason to continue living.
They created, innovated, developed, and invented things that are now instrumental to human civilization. Not only that, the knowledge they left was magnificent material to study. From there, one would learn about their past cultures and traditions.
The customs of the past were colorful and meaningful. They put importance on every aspect of their life. It would be hard to imagine a world where they didn’t exist.
Daisy pondered for a moment before showing her camera to Caspian.
Caspian was confused about why she was suddenly showing her camera to him. He looked at it and wondered what he had to do with it.
Daisy picked a picture of the castle wall she had taken earlier and showed it to him.
“I’ve read in a book that it was where the famous Quiet Noises took place during the end of the last dynasty. Amazing, isn’t it?”
“It is.”
“Many people died during that time. History said that it was one of the most tumultuous times in human history.”
“Indeed. People were looking for something new, and the last empire simply couldn’t give what the subjects wanted.”
The two of them engaged in a conversation they didn’t know interested them the most.
Besides painting, Daisy loved to flip through the history book and read about the Qing Empire. She was eager to know why it was called Quiet Noises. It required her further in-depth study, but she was more set on learning all about the Qing Empire.
Caspian was the same. Not only was it interest that made him study about it, but he was searching for answers to his questions. Though his wish might be far-fetched, he still hoped it wasn’t the worst.
While they were in the middle of talking about the Qing Empire, Daisy’s phone rang. It was Camille.
“Sorry, I will answer this first.”
“Go ahead.”
“Thank you.”
Daisy walked a few steps away from Caspian and answered Camille’s call.
As she walked away, Caspian looked down on his watch and saw the time was already one in the afternoon. Time really passed quickly.
He fixed all his things and prepared to go eat lunch.
‘Daisy must have been starving.’
He thought of how long they were staying here at the park and didn’t eat anything. Caspian recalled all the restaurants selling delicious foods here. He was thinking of taking her out for a meal.
After a while, Daisy came back.
“It was my friend, Camille.”
“Yes. Your bag.”
“Ah, thank you.”
Daisy shyly reached out for her bag. She didn’t know she put it down earlier while talking to Caspian. Fortunately, Caspian noticed it and reminded her of it.
She smiled at him. After putting her camera inside the bag, her stomach growled, and she felt embarrassed.
“Oh, I have yet to eat lunch.”
Daisy glanced at her watch; it was indeed late in the afternoon.
She didn’t feel hungry earlier while having a good conversation with Caspian. She was also enjoying talking about the things she was interested in. Moreover, their conversation wasn’t that boring. It was more on the informative side.
Caspian smiled at her and pointed to a nearby restaurant.
“Let’s go over there. They sell pretty delicious food.”
“Uh, no, I will just go back to the campus and eat something. I’m sure there’s still food in the cafeteria.”
“By this time, the cafeteria would have no food. Let’s just go there.”
“Uhm… is it alright?”
“Ah, what is?”
“I mean… this is the first day of class, and we know very little of each other.”
“Oh….”
Caspian suddenly felt embarrassed.
‘Is it too early to ask her out to have a meal? She’s also starving, though.’
Caspian thinks for a moment before opening his mouth again.
“We’re classmates. We also came from the same high school. There’s nothing wrong… eating with classmates, right?”
“…”
Daisy had nothing to say when her stomach growled once again. She was embarrassed enough, so she nodded her head and agreed. Caspian smiled at her and led her to the restaurant.
Few people were inside the restaurant, so they found a seat in no time. Caspian seemed to know everything about it as he quickly asked for the menu and asked her what she would like to eat.
“I’ll just have a simple pork stew and rice.”
“Do you want some side dishes?”
“A salad will do.”
“Alright. I will have the same.”
“Do you also like pork stew?”
“No, it’s just I am also starving.”
“Ah.”
Caspian put down the menu, called for the waiter, and then put their order. On the other side of the table, Daisy felt her heart very warm at this moment.
She first saw him on their graduation day, and he’s even her classmate now. What kind of fate is this?
Her heart thumped against her chest as it did on their graduation day as he watched him place the order and subtly take care of her. What is this feeling?
Soon after, their order arrived, and they quickly started eating. Even though they didn’t show it, they were both famished. In no time, they finished their meal at the same time.
Daisy downed the water and felt full from the meal. What made her fuller was the handsome food – no, the good-looking guy in front of her.
In her eyes, Caspian looked handsome even when simply wiping his hands with the table napkin.
While he was staring at him, Caspian turned his head to her. Daisy was startled and quickly looked away.
“Did you enjoy your meal?”
“Ah, yes. It was very delicious. I think I can answer ten math questions now.”
“Good then.”
Caspian nodded and prepared to go back to the campus.
“Are you going anywhere after this?”
Daisy thought for a moment when he suddenly asked her that question.
“No, I will be going back to our dormitory now.”
Caspian nodded his head in understanding and picked up his bag. Daisy went after him.
They paid for their food as they left the restaurant. As they walked outside the restaurant, Caspian turned his body and opened the door for her. Daisy said her thanks and lightly smiled.
Since the campus was near the park and the restaurant they ate at, they stood side by side as they walked back. It was very natural, and there was no awkwardness. It was as if they knew each other even before.
As the sun shone from the west, the two figures walked under the shade of the trees.
They finally arrived inside the campus. Daisy turned her head and looked at Caspian.
“Uhm… here we are. I will go first now, then.”
“Okay, take care.”
“Hmm.”
Daisy nodded and walked away. She patted her chest when she felt the same sensation as earlier. She paused in her tracks and looked back at Caspian. He was already walking in the opposite direction.
‘Girl’s and boy’s dormitory are in the same direction.’
She sighed as if it was a pity and continued walking.
“Today is wonderful,” she said with a faint smile on her face.
