The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
In the library, Daisy looked for Caspian. As usual, he was sitting in front of the computer. It was as if he had already reserved this seat just for him.
Daisy coughed to make her presence known, but Caspian didn’t even look at her. He just continued on flipping through the pages of the book he was holding.
Daisy sat down and pursed her lips.
‘It seems like he was angry for some reason.’
Daisy put out her paper and pen, intending to write to shake off the feeling that Caspian was somehow mad at something. As she holds the pen in her hand, it was at that moment when Gabriel sat down beside her, with a loud creak from his chair.
He looked at the two of them, thinking that something was definitely wrong. Seeing Caspian’s serious look on his face, Gabriel couldn’t help but sneer to himself.
‘Is this something to be mad for? You don’t even make a move at her and get angry like that. You’re confusing her, you ice-cold man!’
From the very beginning, Gabriel knew that he wasn’t entitled to have a special relationship with Daisy. It wasn’t because of he was afraid of Caspian. It was because he was afraid that aiming for her heart was nothing but his own wishful thinking.
《– FLASHBACK –》
[My Lady, you can go out now.]
A white and slender hand stretched from inside the carriage. Soon, a very beautiful woman alighted from the carriage. It was none other than the Minister of War’s second daughter, Zhou MeiHua.
On the second floor of a certain restaurant in the middle of the capital, a man wearing inconspicuous black clothes was resting with his subordinates. He inadvertently saw the scene and that quickly caught his attention.
[Is that the famous silent lady of the Empire, Zhou MeiHua?]
His subordinate nodded his head. A smile formed in his lips. He intended to go down and greet her.
‘That lady is totally my type.’
But before he could get to the entrance, one of his aides suddenly stopped him. He glared at his aide, but he saw the Royal Guards Captain who was currently patrolling the capital. He immediately hid himself.
As the group of the royal guards passed by, he heard rumors that he was to marry Zhou MeiHua. It hasn’t been that long since he laid his eyes on the lady and she was already set to marry someone. As the leader of a famous assassination guild, he can’t accept it.
A month before the wedding, someone contacted his group and ordered to kill the captain of the royal guards and his bride. Upon hearing this, he didn’t hesitate to accept the offer, but he was also thinking of something else.
‘If I kill that captain, then Zhou MeiHua will be mine.’
He smiled to himself, not knowing the fate waiting for him.
The day of the wedding came, and they had long been waiting for the signal to attack. An hour passed and they received the signal. He had been very confident about his skill and certain that he could kill Li BaoHe. But he was convinced that he was wrong.
Just as he was to land his strike to kill Li BaoHe, the man he thought robbed of his woman, an arrow pierced right through his heart. Unable to accept his defeat, he ordered one of his men to quickly go and kill Zhou MeiHua.
‘If I can’t have her, you can’t have her as well. I swear on my life!’
Then he took his last breath.
《– END OF FLASHBACK –》
And so, he decided to be a friend. But Daisy doesn’t want him, and Caspian, that hateful man, was looking at him as if he was an enemy.
‘I mean technically, we were enemy back then, but not now. I have changed.’
Gabriel pouted and sulked on his chair.
Daisy felt that the air today was strange. On her right, a man was acting as if he was angry. On her left, this strange guy who kept clinging to her was pouting his lips in an ugly way. It was as if he was sulking.
‘Why is the two of them being like this?’
Not long after, the other journalism club members arrived one by on. They greeted each other politely and they started their meeting right away.
Throughout the whole time of the meeting, Caspian never opened his mouth. He merely nodded his head. Gabriel was happy to meet new people and was enthusiastic about the whole thing. The only awkward one was Daisy.
Even though it hasn’t been that long since she had been close (?) with Caspian, Daisy felt that he was more silent than usual.
It was already night when their meeting ended. The president of the club was kind enough to treat them to dinner. It was also a lowkey welcome party for the new members of their club. Everyone was happy.
As their dinner ended, the president bid them goodbye and the other members as well. When the three was left behind, Gabriel was the first one to go. Eventually, only Caspian and Daisy were left behind.
The night air was quite chilly, so Daisy hugged her shoulders. Caspian noticed this and he was about to give her his jacket, but she suddenly moved away as if she knew what he was about to do.
“You’re cold.”
“It’s fine. By the way, thank you again for the chocolates.”
Daisy flashed him a smile. It was very radiant that it seems to light up the dark night.
Caspian felt that something was wrong with his heart. It was beating erratically behind his ribcage. It was as if it would jump out at any moment. He had a hard time suppressing the emotions that was starting to overwhelm his mind.
He turned his head to her again and she was still smiling. Her eyes were as clear as ever. It draws him in deeper and deeper. A question suddenly popped in his mind.
“Do you believe in rebirth?”
“Huh?”
For a moment, Daisy was speechless at his sudden question. But this was also something he had asked her some time ago, though she couldn’t exactly remember what she gave to him as an answer.
Daisy pondered for a moment before opening her mouth to answer.
“I think… that is possible. I’ve read in a book that to be able for two people to meet each other again in their new life… something is needed to tie the two of them. For example… a red tassel.”
“A red tassel…?”
Daisy nodded.
Thinking about it now, it was a mystery how she was able to meet Caspian in the first place. This world is huge and there are more than eight billion people living in it. So how was she able to meet Caspian?
It couldn’t be a mere coincidence. As that book had mentioned, for you to meet someone from your previous life, something should tie the both of you together.
‘Come to think of it, I made a red tassel for my wedding with him. Was that why I was able to meet him?’
Daisy was in confusion, and Caspian as well.
‘A red tassel…?’
He vaguely remembers that before his marriage with Zhou MeiHua, his father had given him a box. He had opened it once and there was a red tassel inside it. Upon closer inspection, the red tassel was made with utmost care. His father had told him that it was Zhou MeiHua who had made it.
He took fancy in it and made it an accessory on his sword. He remembered Daisy’s drawing earlier. Though it was only the sword, he clearly remembers how his own sword looked like. That was why he was sure that was his. Though it lacks the red tassel.
‘Maybe she didn’t see me put it on my sword as an accessory.’
Now that she mentioned it, he can be a hundred percent sure that she was also reborn, or reborn. As for why, he could also think of that red tassel.
A surge of emotion inexplicably rose from the bottom of his heart.
“If you were to be reborn… what do you want to do?”
Caspian became curious suddenly. At first, he wants to know if she was reincarnated. Now, he wants to know if she also wants to meet him just as how much he wanted to meet her before rebirth.
“I… would want to meet someone.”
As she opened her mouth to answer, Daisy suddenly felt nervous. It felt as if she was in an interview and the interviewer asked her a difficult question.
“Only if I can meet that person. How about you?”
Daisy sucked in air and asked him back.
“I also… would want to meet someone.”
And that someone was you. I wish you know about it.
The hardest thing about being reborn is that no matter how much you wanted to meet someone, it wasn’t as easy as 1 2 3. The next thing is for that person to know nothing about that past. Sometimes, you want them to know what’s in your heart, but in the next second, you are afraid they would scorn at you.
Caspian was only wishing to meet his wife again and repay her with the life his father had stolen from her. He wanted to uphold that oath he said to himself.
He initially thought that it was merely responsibility that he keeps on thinking about it. But now, his feelings had change to something he was unable to name.
‘What is this feeling?’
But then he had a sudden realization.
‘Do I like her?’
This is a question that could be answered only once the law of fate applies to both of them.
