The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
“Once again, congratulations to all of you!”
The graduation ceremony finished after the closing remarks from the principal. There was a clamor inside the hall as the students grouped themselves and chatted with each other. Excitement was drawn to their faces.
On one side of the hall, Daisy roamed her eyes to search for the so-called ‘Class A’ top 1’. His face – no, his speech awakened her innermost curiosity.
‘Oh?’
She saw him walking down the stage and greeting what looked like his parents.
‘So he’s Caspian Nixon. How come I never heard of him before?’
Caspian took off his cap and gown and held them with one hand. His movement was smooth and quick.
Due to the distance between them, Daisy couldn’t make out what expression he was making. But still, it made her happy that she could look at him from afar.
While she was mesmerized looking at him, a hand tapped her shoulder. She jumped in fright and turned her head towards the owner of the hand.
“You startled me!”
“Where are you looking at? There’s nothing over there.”
“Huh?”
Daisy looked back to where Caspian was standing just now; indeed, he wasn’t there anymore.
‘Where did he go?’
Camille waved her hand in front of her face.
“Daisy, Daisy! Earth to Daisy!”
“Oh… sorry.”
Daisy awkwardly laughed and turned her attention to Camille, who was busy fixing herself. Camille rolled her eyes at Daisy and asked her to take a picture of her.
Daisy nodded her head and took a picture of Camille. Her best friend told her she would take a photo of her and quickly posed with her diploma.
Daisy’s parents were crying not far from them. Their lovely daughter has finally graduated.
“Mom, Dad.”
“Daisy! You did well!”
“Thank you, Mom. Thank you, Dad.”
Daisy’s father nodded his head and silently hugged her.
“How about we go to that restaurant you love? We had a reservation for your special day.”
“Aww, Dad!”
Daisy hugged and felt warm in her heart. Nothing can compare to her parents, who provide her with what she needs and give her what she wants, as long as they can.
Camille shamelessly hugged Daisy and asked her if she could go with them. Daisy’s mother looked at Camille with pity in her eyes.
“Have your parents not contacted you yet?”
“Well… they did, but they said they would be late.”
“What kind of parent does not attend their daughter’s graduation?”
“That’s why Auntie, why don’t you just adopt me as your second daughter?”
Camille smiled with crescent eyes. Daisy’s mother couldn’t do anything but laugh at her.
Since they were five, Camille Starks, Daisy’s best friend, was the daughter of two busy office personnel. They often left her alone in their house. Luckily, Daisy’s family was their neighbor, and their parents were quite close.
When Camille was little, her parents would leave her with Daisy’s parents on days they would be away. Over time, Camille and Daisy’s parents got used to it and treated Camille as if she was their own daughter.
Camille and Daisy grew up together, so they were naturally close.
“You’re always counted, ahaha!”
Daisy’s father chimed in and tapped Camille’s shoulder. Camille smiled even wider than before and thanked them again.
First, they went back to their house to change clothes before going to the restaurant they had a reservation with.
In the afternoon, their group arrived at Heaven’s Taste Restaurant while the sun was shining brightly in the sky. There were many people on the first floor. An attendant guided them to their reservation on the second floor.
Their seat was by the window, where you can see the view below. Even though this place is far from the city, the number of people living in their area was also considerably high. There were also many tourists here.
The restaurant they are in now is one of the most famous restaurants in their place. Though it can hardly compare to any high-rise five-star hotel.
Camille marveled at the scene outside the window as they sat down in their seats. The highest tower in the city can be seen from here.
“Wow! This is beautiful!”
“Can you see that tower over there? I heard that was one of the hot spots to confess your love?”
“Really? Wow, I should get my man to confess his love for me there!”
Daisy looked incredulously toward Camille. She squinted her eyes.
“Do you have a man?”
“I will have one! In the future!”
Camille pouted her lips and pouted her lips.
Not too long after, their order arrived in time. It was a three-course meal. It consisted of eggplant parmigiana for the appetizer, chicken florentine breast for the main course, and lemon meringue for dessert.
Camille and Daisy didn’t hold back and ate their fill. They ate until the last bite of the dessert.
After eating, Daisy felt her tummy bulge inside her clothes. She took a deep breath and drank a glass of water. She wiped her lips with the table napkin after that.
When her parents also finished eating, they went back home. The two girls were permitted to go around on one condition: to be back before eight in the evening. Daisy and Camille were more than happy and rushed to play.
They went to the nearby park. Trees were planted on each side of the road, making the illusion of a silent forest. There were also countless people here.
They first bought tickets for an outdoor movie showing that night and went to see magic tricks afterward. They played in the booths, winning many stuffed toys. Lastly, they visited the shooting booth, where they were to shoot the numbers above the stuffed toys’ heads.
“Aim with your eyes, Daisy. Get that panda for me!”
“You want that panda? I’ll get that for you! Boss, give me 20 bullets!”
The storekeeper generously gave them 20 plastic bullets and a long plastic rifle gun.
Daisy held the gun in her hand and positioned herself, with her body slightly bent forward and her left foot in front of her right foot. After the count of three, bang! Bang! Bang! Three consecutive shots echoed from Daisy’s rifle and hit the three panda stuffed toys on the wall.
Camille jumped in happiness and hugged Daisy. The shopkeeper was at a loss when he saw how precisely Daisy hit the target.
Daisy used her remaining bullets and effortlessly got the biggest prizes in the shop. The shopkeeper didn’t know what to say. As she hugged the giant teddy bear she had won, Daisy had a triumphant smile.
“Daisy, you’re the best!”
Camille gave her a thumbs up with a satisfied smile on her face.
After playing other arcade games, they grew tired. Daisy bought a big popcorn for each of them with cold cola. Camille thanked her and sat down on the grass. The outdoor movie viewing will start in a few minutes anyway.
Daisy sat down beside her and put the giant teddy bear beside her. She opened the canned cola and took a sip.
“Have you thought of what course you will apply to?”
“Me?” Camille pointed to herself, and Daisy nodded.
“You’re good at numbers. Why don’t you take accountancy?”
“Don’t wanna.”
“Then what do you want to take?”
Camille took a deep breath and pondered.
Daisy was also quite worried about her best friend. This time must be hard for Camille as she had no one to guide her on what course to take. Her parents were always busy and barely had time for her. On important occasions, they would only send Camille a large amount of money.
Daisy looked at her best friend. Even though she is good at numbers, Camille probably won’t take accountancy – because her mother was already an accountant at a big bank. At the same time, her father was busy with his office work in the city.
“I think I want to take the same as you so we can always be together.”
Camille hugged Daisy’s arm and said with sparkling eyes.
‘You looked the same as her.’
Daisy smiled at her and patted her head.
“But you said you don’t have any background in Fine Arts.”
“Well, then I will have to study about it.”
Camille just shrugged her shoulders and sipped on her cola as her hand was busy stuffing her mouth with popcorn.
Daisy was reminded of that someone that flashed in her mind earlier. She had the same determined eyes as that child back then. She could remember how her bright eyes looked as she held her hands and told her not to worry.
Daisy quickly shook her head and reminded herself.
‘Bygones are bygones.’
They stayed silent for a while before Daisy decided to open her mouth. She had been curious about it since morning.
“Hey, tell me more about that Caspian Nixon.”
“Cough, cough! Hey, you really talked out of topic!”
Camille choked on her drink, grumbling about how Daisy was always so out of topic. Cola splattered on her shirt, and she quickly patted it with some tissues. Daisy also helped her, quietly apologizing to her.
Camille cleared her throat and told her about Caspian Nixon, the famous Class A’s top 1. His name caught her attention, and now, her mind couldn’t stop thinking about him.
‘I wonder why,’ she asked herself.
