The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
After studying in the library, Caspian and Daisy returned to their respective dormitories. They said goodbye to each other, minds swirling with different thoughts.
Daisy intended to study for an hour but lost track of time – again – and studied for more than three hours. When she looked at her phone, it was already seven in the evening. She hurriedly grabbed her things and returned.
As Daisy opened the door to their room with a creak, Camille’s face suddenly popped up, that startled Daisy.
“You startled me!”
“It’s very late. I texted you around four in the afternoon, and look, what’s the time now.”
Camille couldn’t stop complaining to Daisy like a child throwing a tantrum. Daisy apologized to her several times until Camille said she forgave her. Camille then gave her a box of cookies she brought back from playing outside.
It was a box of delicious chocolate cookies. Of course, Camille didn’t forget to give her another box. At first, Daisy had no idea what it was, but thinking of Camille’s love for chicken, it must be chicken. The content was precisely as she had thought of as she opened it.
Even though it was a box of spicy chicken and Daisy doesn’t like it that much, she was still thankful to Camille. After she and Caspian finished studying, he asked her to eat at the cafeteria. However, she refused when she thought of the waiting Camille.
It was a pity that she didn’t get to eat with Caspian, but she’s sure there will be other opportunities. And so, after going back to their dorm, she was starving. To be more exact, she was craving some noodles and rice.
“Do you want me to get you cupped rice?”
“Can you?”
“I was also going down because I forgot to take the book for my assignment.”
“Then, thank you. I am starving.”
“You should have eaten at least something before returning here.”
“What you said is right. I will do that next time.”
“You should. What would Auntie tell me if we went back there and you became thinner than now?”
“That won’t happen.”
Camille suggested that she get cupped rice for her, which Daisy didn’t refuse. Although Camille might look naive on the outside, she was a very warm person inside. She was also thoughtful, though she might not look like it.
Caille grabbed her jacket and went down. After a while, she returned with two cupped rice in case Daisy wanted more. She was also probably starving from studying. She also already heated them with the oven on the first floor.
Receiving the food, Daisy happily ate her food and slurped her noodles. Camille asked for one bite, so she gave her one.
“Wow! Noodles really taste the best while hot!”
“I know, right.”
Daisy blew on the hot noodles before shoving them inside her mouth. Her gaze turned to the two beds on the right side of the room. The left side was occupied by her and Camille.
Daisy and Camille were told they had other roommates and would arrive later. It had already been a week, and they didn’t arrive. She was wondering when they would come.
Camille saw where she was looking and snorted.
“Do you know what my classmates said about our two roommates?”
“What is it?”
“They said they were both young ladies of rich families but were forced to study here by their parents. They also said that those two young ladies can do what they want, like going to school whenever they feel like it.”
“Really? Is that true?”
“Of course! My classmates said that they went to the same high school!”
“Are you sure what they said was true?”
Daisy asked Camille while deboning another chicken leg and shoving the meat into her mouth. Camille was taken aback by her question and stopped munching on the cookies she gave Daisy.
“That… that should be… true….”
“Camille, how many times should I tell you that you should not easily trust what others say? You remember how you got in a fight with that when we were in high school?”
“I… I know! I won’t do it anymore….”
“Good. We have yet to meet them, so don’t believe what they say. To see is to believe.”
Daisy finally finished all her noodles and drank the leftover soup as she said those words.
“I… understand. I won’t do it anymore….”
Camille pouted and lowered her head. She put back the cookie on the box she was eating and didn’t speak for some time.
Camille was this kind of person. She was easily led to the nose by what other people were saying. She can easily believe in what they say, so as a result, she always gets in trouble for not knowing the whole story.
Daisy washed her hands on the sink, cleared the things she ate, and finally wiped her hands with the wipes on the table. Camille was still saying nothing. When Daisy finished cleaning, she sat down in front of Camille.
Truthfully speaking, Camille had done nothing wrong. Daisy only wants her to learn something so that when they are away from each other, Camille wouldn’t be so lost like this.
Daisy held Camille’s shoulders and hugged her.
“Don’t be sad. Time will come, and we will naturally be apart from each other. During that time, I want you to be safe; that’s why I am doing this.”
Camille hugged her back tighter. She was even sobbing.
“… Why are you always talking as if you will go away?”
This time, Camille was already crying.
‘Such a crybaby.’
Daisy stroked Camille’s back and patted her head like a baby. In no time, Camille was already fast asleep.
‘I’m sure she will get crazy in the morning when she sees her puffy eyes.’
Daisy shook her head and put Camille on her bed. Thankfully, she was still light, so she could get her on the bed.
After putting Camille on the bed, Daisy stretched before deciding to go back on what she had studied earlier. It was still early, and she had eaten too much. It wouldn’t be too good to sleep with a full stomach.
“Hmm, conduction is the transfer of energy from the more energetic particles of a substance to the adjacent less energetic ones as a result of interactions between the particles. In gasses and liquids, conduction is due to the collisions and diffusion of the molecules during their random motion. In solids, it is due to the combination of vibrations of the molecules in a lattice and the energy transport by free electrons. The rate of heat conduction through a medium depends on the geometry of the medium, its thickness, and the material of the medium, as well as the temperature difference across the medium….” 1Reference: Heat Transfer Summary: Fluid Mechanics. The next day, it was Saturday and their first week in college.
Camille was very excited but was also embarrassed. As she woke up, she saw how puffy her eyes were and complained to Daisy. The latter only shook her head and told her to put some ice on it.
Early in the morning, Daisy was studying – again. Camille turned her head to Daisy and snorted.
“My lady, are you not tired of studying? Last night, you went to bed very late because you were studying. Today, as soon as you woke up, you’re still studying?”
“It’s better to know more than to look stupid.”
“My lady, there’s something better than studying the whole day today.”
“What is it?”
Camille sat down on the chair beside Daisy and excitedly shook her hand.
“You know, it is Saturday today. Why don’t we go out and have fun? Commemorate our first week in college?”
Daisy thought of refusing, but when she recalled how she scolded Camille the other night and how hard she cried, she had no heart to refuse. Her conscience is still working as fine as ever.
Daisy put down her pen and looked at Camille. She looked very excited and was waiting for her to say yes. Daisy finally nodded, and Camille jumped up in excitement.
“You go and change your clothes! It should be something pretty!”
Camille quickly rummages in her closet and puts out a cute dress for her to wear. She didn’t forget to tell Daisy that what she should wear must be something pretty. She knew her best friend had no sense of what you called ‘fashion’. Her style is very… 90’s, in her opinion.
After Camille was done with herself, she pushed Daisy inside the bathroom and let her change into her clothes. When Daisy was done, Camille hurriedly dragged her outside their dormitory.
As today was Saturday, many students were also going out to play. The best time to do that is on weekends. On weekends, they can play and temporarily forget about school.
As Camille and Daisy were walking down the hallway, they met those students who were also going out to play. When they passed by the faculty, Daisy was suddenly called back by her drawing professor.
They stopped walking and entered the faculty. As they entered, they saw another two people inside.
Daisy looked at them and was confused as to why they were also there.
