Worst Day of My Life… Part 3
Both Natsumi and her roommate looked surprised at my suggestion.
“I don’t really have the right to say anything about it.”
Natsumi agrees so.
Natsumi’s roommate also agrees.
While we are on the train going back to my place, the roommate says,
“I’m just an intruder here, so feel free to go on dates and spend your holidays together. I’m fine with it.”
Then, we arrive at our place. Natsumi’s roommate seems a bit uneasy, looking around the house for a while.
I don’t really care about him, so I decided to go to our room and take a rest.
After about 30 minutes, I can hear Natsumi’s conversation with her roommate coming from the kitchen.
“What are you talking about? It’s only been an hour since we got here. Even Ma-kun is compromising about the situation.”
“I can’t take it anymore!”
I go to the kitchen and ask.
“What’s going on?”
Natsumi has an apologetic look on her face.
“I’m sorry Ma-kun. Ka-kun said that he can’t live here…”
“I’m really sorry…”
Natsumi’s roommate said so.
Then, he leaves with his luggage.
“I’ll drive him to the station.”
Natsumi told me so and left.
I’m no longer in the mood to stop her, I’m really frustrated.
After a while, Natsumi finally returns.
“Ma-kun, I’m really sorry. While I was driving him to the station, I talked with with Ka-kun. I’ll stay here until your winter break is over. But once the winter break ends, I’ll move out and stay with Ka-kun until he finds a proper job!”
“Why do you have to do it? I told you that I will compromise about the situation, right? It’s him who can’t endure it and left. I actually don’t want to have him in our place either.”
I said so, frustrated.
“I know he is being selfish…but if I don’t do this…he really won’t be able to find a job.”
Natsumi said so, looking distressed.
“None of that matter anymore, does it? Besides, even if you go there and live with him, can he really find a proper job? There is no guarantee, right? He was supposed to be prepared for all of this when he decided to come here and live with us, but he just gave up so quickly. He’s all talk. Who is going to hire someone like that?”
“That might be true, but…”
Neither Natsumi nor I back down.
However, I absolutely cannot accept Natsumi living with him.
As we are arguing with each other every day, winter break is about to end before I knew it.
Despite it is winter break, I receive an email from an overseas affiliate company.
It’s a customer complaint case right at the beginning of the year.
It is not my fault, but I have to handle it.
With the situation involving Natsumi and everything else, I feel overwhelmed.
Noticing my condition, Natsumi calls out to me.
“Come here…Ma-kun ♪”
I don’t say anything back because of the tense atmosphere between us.
However, tears start to well up on their own.
Unable to see my condition any longer, Natsumi gently presses my head against her chest, just as she has done in the past.
“Did something bad happened at work? You’ve worked really hard, Ma-kun…you can do this! I’ll support you no matter what. I’ll hold you while you work, so let me sit on your lap!”
Natsumi whispers so gently to me as if consoling a small child.
I’m an adult…I’m even older than her, but yet I let Natsumi hold me, just like a child seeking comfort from its mother.
I never knew I have such a childish side…
I feel comforted…
She is truly the love of my life…
Because of that incident, I even thought about trying to hate her…but I just can’t bring myself to do it.
I just want to be comforted by Natsumi…
That’s all I can think about…
I’m entangled in her web, unable to escape…
Finally, the winter break comes to an end.
Due to the issue with handling the complaint, I can’t take a day off.
So before going to work, I say to Natsumi one last time.
“I won’t allow you to leave!”
“Yeah, I understand…have a good day at work.”
Natsumi replies so and sees me off.
I try to finish my work as soon as possible and head home.
However, when I arrive home, there is no sign of Natsumi.
All I can find is a single letter and the apron she used to wear
