The youthful romantic comedy between my “commuting wife” and me is too sweet!! - Chapter 10
Episode 10
The night had grown late.
Moonlight peeked through a gap in the curtains, casting a faint glow, but the room’s only light came from that sliver.
I wasn’t sure of the exact time, but it was clear that several hours had passed since we returned from the public bath.
I was holding Miu in my arms from behind, fighting off sleep.
Burying my face in her hair, I took in her scent.
It was probably the travel-sized shampoo she had picked up at the convenience store earlier, but it still smelled wonderful.
I tightened my arms slightly around her waist, pulling her closer.
Through her T-shirt, I could feel the softness that only a girl possesses.
Sharing a single bed meant we had no choice but to lie close together.
Of course, there was enough space that I didn’t have to wrap my arms around her, but I couldn’t resist the urge to hold her.
Her body is so soft.
Even though Miu was petite compared to most girls, her softness felt overwhelming.
It made me want to protect her.
Her scent, her touch—they were all so precious to me.
Girlfriends are amazing.
Or maybe Miu’s just special.
Everything about her felt like a treasure I wanted to hold onto.
The comfort of having her in my arms seemed to amplify my drowsiness.
If I gave in to sleep, it would claim me instantly.
But part of me resisted, unwilling to surrender these precious moments to slumber.
Opportunities for Miu to stay over like this were rare.
While I was always happy to have her here, I understood that her parents likely had their reservations.
Who knew when she’d be able to come over again?
That thought alone made me determined to stay awake, savoring every second.
Breathing in her scent again, I heard her chuckle softly.
“Mou, Souma-san, stop sniffing me so much. It’s embarrassing.”
She spoke with her back still turned to me.
“Oh… Miu, you’re awake?”
“With how much you’re sniffing back there, of course I am.”
“Ah… sorry.”
Feeling guilty, I quickly apologized.
“That’s a lie. I’ve actually been awake this whole time.”
As she said this, Miu wiggled around to face me.
Looking at her head-on felt oddly embarrassing.
“I’m just… really happy. But at the same time, my heart keeps racing, and I don’t want to sleep.”
She admitted that the happiness of the moment made her reluctant to close her eyes.
Knowing she felt the same way I did made my heart feel even fuller.
“Wait, so…”
“Yes, I knew you were sniffing my hair the entire time.”
Her mischievous tone made my face burn with embarrassment.
The faint moonlight revealed her playful smirk.
“Do I really smell that good?”
“You do. It’s the best scent in the world.”
“Come on, it’s just store-bought shampoo.”
“I don’t think that matters.”
It wasn’t the shampoo—it was her.
Miu herself had the best scent in the world.
“If we’re talking about scents, you smell really good too, Souma-san.”
“What?”
She pressed her face against my chest and inhaled deeply, making me squirm.
“I mean it. You have a scent I love.”
Miu took another exaggerated sniff, and I felt a ticklish warmth spread through my chest.
“Hey, that tickles.”
“Well, you made me feel ticklish earlier, so this is payback.”
She was right.
I’d buried my face in her hair earlier, shamelessly enjoying her scent.
We shared a quiet laugh, the kind that bubbles up naturally in moments of happiness.
“If we keep this up, it’ll be morning before we know it.”
Miu said softly.
“No kidding. It wouldn’t look great if you stayed over and ended up late for school.”
“That’s true… So, should we sleep now?”
I didn’t answer her question right away. Instead, I gazed into her face.
She looked back at me with the same intensity.
Slowly, we leaned in closer to each other.
Under the deepening night, we shared another kiss.
Then another, and another, repeating the gentle act over and over until the night stretched on and sleep finally claimed us.
