Chapter 6: Small Comeuppance Saga ①: The Lazy Introvert Just Wants to Live an Ordinary Life

“Wha-What’s going on now…”

I was on my way to school and I could feel a lot of people staring at me. It seemed like most of the students at Gotsukiin High School were keeping their eyes on me, but I couldn’t figure out the reason why. The news article I saw did mention the school name, but I didn’t see my name on it. Or maybe… I missed it? Maybe there was a forum that had revealed my name?

As an introvert, I definitely had experienced getting cold stares from my peers, but right now… It was different. The stares weren’t laced with disdain like usual.

“Hey, hey, isn’t that the guy who saved Yuria-chan….?”

“Yeah. He’s the one that took down that huge monster with just one kick, right?”

“He looks like he doesn’t have any motivation, but I guess he can really do it when it counts, huh?”

The whispers of the people were almost palpable, making my back itch with discomfort.

Arrghhh… This is so annoying.  

I’d rather be holed up in a dungeon, taking down S-rank monsters than getting caught up in this unnecessary mess. I just wanted to spend my days surrounded by big monsters, fighting all day long. I clearly underestimated how fast information spread on the internet. 

Sighing to myself, I quickened my pace to my class.

However, even though information had been circulating faster than my expectation, there was one person who was still acting the same toward me.

“Oi! Oomomo! Man, you’re still the same creepy bastard as always, huh?!”

After school, Aoi Onizuka, the school’s biggest bully, came to me just like he always did. 

“I’ve heard about it, you know? There’s a rumor going around that you… That you’ve saved my… My Yuria-chan.”

Ignoring him, I sighed inwardly. So it was true. My personal identity had been leaked. I just hadn’t been able to find it myself, but it seemed someone had posted my information somewhere on the internet. But still, “my Yuria-chan’, huh…? Seriously?

Sure, she was beautiful and I could understand why guys would be attracted to her, but I didn’t expect this jerk would be her fan too. The situation was becoming more troublesome than I expected. According to some news articles, Yuria was searching for me too. If Onizuka really idolized her, then this situation was definitely not in his favor. 

“But… There’s no way that’s true, right?”

Onizuka said as he suddenly yanked my hair harder than usual. 

“I mean, you’re just worthless trash. A genuine introvert loser. There’s no way scum like you could have taken down a Death Devil Ogre, right?”

“Yeah, that’s right. It wasn’t me.”

“Hehehehe!!! I knew it!”

WHAM!!

While letting out a creepy laugh, Onizuka suddenly pulled my face close to him. 

“But you see, it still pisses me off that a worthless loser like you is getting all the spotlight at school. It really grinds my gears, you see? I mean, the one who should be getting all the attention should be me. After all, I’m already level 30! Don’t you think so, Oomomo?”

“…”

“That’s why… You better come to the schoolyard now. I’m going to beat you up in front of everyone and prove that you weren’t the one who saved Yuria-chan.”

“What?! Really?!”

I immediately stood up and looked at Onizuka in the eyes. 

“(As long as I can make everyone lose their interest in me) I’m all for it! Come on! Let’s go now!! Hurry up!”

“Heh. You’re getting pretty excited, huh? Alright. Let’s have a one-on-one fight to put an end to this stupid charade.”

“Hyahyahyahyahya!! What’s wrong with you? Is this all you’ve got?!”

“He’s not even fighting back? Man, I guess he’s just a shitty weakling!”

I was in the schoolyard, getting beaten up by Onizuka happily. This kind of a fight would never be allowed by the school. The teacher would surely come to put a stop to this. Hence why I needed to make sure everyone could see just how useless I was before the teachers came. This was the reason why I didn’t resist at all since the start of the fight. I just let Onizuka beat me to his heart’s content. 

“Huh? Why isn’t he fighting back…?”

“Even if the power in the dungeon doesn’t affect his power in this world, he should at least know how to move his body, right…?”

“I guess the rumors were fake?”

“But still… It’s strange. Why does Oomomo look so happy when he’s getting beaten up by Onizuka?”

…Alright. Things are going well. 

People were starting to doubt the rumors. At this rate, I should be able to return to my old daily life soon. I would be free from the hassle of getting involved with a famous streamer.
