Chapter 20: The Lazy Introvert Deals With the Chimpanzee
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
The next day, at 10 PM. Just as promised, I headed to the Void Dungeon. There, I met Aoi Onizuka for the first time in about a month. There were no other people around. It seemed Onizuka had driven the other explorer away. He truly wanted to have a one-on-one match against me.
“Heh. Can’t believe you actually showed up. I guess you’re still as dumb as ever, huh?”
Onizuka was standing a few meters away from him. His presence almost felt nostalgic to me. With the usual irritating smirk still plastered on his face, he swung his arm back and forth. Right. The same arm that I had dislocated before.
“…Your arm is already healed?”
“Well, duh. Don’t put me on the same level as you. I’m not just some ordinary person. I’ve got a doctor at my beck and call that can heal me up. You wouldn’t even be able to find my doctor in a regular hospital.”
I see. A back-alley doctor, huh? A back-alley doctor wouldn’t hesitate to use illegal methods to heal you. Of course, a back-alley doctor could be prosecuted if exposed to the law. In the past few years, there had been rumors that these quack doctors were using resources obtained from the dungeon to treat their patients. Many of their methods were said to go against the conventional modern world medical techniques.
Onizuka probably had gone through those illegal treatments to heal his dislocated arm. This cemented my assumption that he had the yakuza on his back.
“Yuria… How’s the streaming preparations? Are you ready?”
“Yeah. I think we’re good to go.”
Yuria, or known as Shiori to me, had been setting up the equipment for the stream while I was talking with Onizuka. She had prepared a smartphone tripod and mounted her smartphone on it. Furthermore, she had used earth magic to secure the tripod’s legs to the ground, making sure the tripod wouldn’t easily topple over. She placed several tripods around the area and now, the preparations for the stream were complete.
“..Tch.”
Onizuka scoffed, clearly upset at how I interacted with Yuria.
“Yuria-chan, watch closely. Just you wait, I will show you that I’m way stronger than this trash.”
“Yes, yes…”
Shiori responded with an exasperated sigh before continuing.
“So? Are you both ready? If you are, I will start the stream now.”
We both nodded and Shiori fiddled with her smartphone for a bit and raised her right hand. That was her signal that the stream had begun.
“Hehehe… You Shitty Momo… I will show you something good to celebrate our little reunion.”
“Huh…?”
“Tremble at the sight of how strong I’ve become! UWAHHHHHHHH!!!”
Onizuka strained all the strength in her body and the floor around him seemed to vibrate a bit. Last time he boasted to me, he was at level 30. But this level of power was not something a mere level 30 could achieve.
“Hehehehe!! How’s that, Shitty Momo?! Even when I was still recovering from my injuries, I’ve been training as hard as I could! Thanks to that, I’m now a level 50!!”
“Training…?”
That was a lie. Unless he knew an exceptionally good hunting ground, it was impossible for someone like him to raise his level to 50 in such a short amount of time. Not to mention, his right shoulder was injured. He shouldn’t be able to fight monsters given his condition. Which meant… There was only one possibility left.
“You used experience juice, didn’t you? And… You must’ve used a lot of them.”
“Ha! You idiot! Of course notttt!~”
Experience Juice. Just like the name suggested, it was a juice that could increase your experience points just by drinking it. One bottle could help a low-level explorer level up and it seemed Onizuka had consumed a lot of it to boost his level. The main problem of experience juice was how scarce it was. It was extremely rare and hard to get. But, if Onizuka truly had the support of the yakuza…
“Heh. Are you scared now, Oomomo?”
With a disgusting grin on his face, Onizuka fiddled with his status screen and summoned a sword. His eyes were gleaming with joy, seemingly happy he could finally have a chance to beat me senseless.
“Now, come on. Bring it on, you Shitty Momo. Or what? You’re too scared to fight me now? Is that it? Hmm??”
“…”
“Hahahaha! Well, not like I’m surprised by your reactions! There aren’t many high school students who are level 50 after all!”
“Haaah… You’re full of shit, just like always.”
Smiling, I pointed at Onizuka with the index finger of my right hand.
“For Yuria’s sake, I will be sure to make things interesting for the video. This time, I will fight you with just this one finger. If I break this rule, you win. How about it?”
“What?!”
Onizuka, who had been grinning at me, was taken aback by my provocation. The grin had disappeared from his face, replaced by a deep scowl. He looked furious.
“Are you stupid?! Didn’t you hear what I said?! I’m a level—”
“Yeah, yeah. I heard you just fine.”
I interrupted Onizuka mid-sentence and flashed a provocative grin to him.
“You’re ONLY a level 50. A weak small fry that doesn’t even worth my time. I can see you’ve healed your right arm, but I guess you haven’t replaced your chimpanzee brain yet. What a shame. After all that effort to go to a quack doctor. But it’s okay, I understand. I get it, really.”
“Yo-You bastard…!!”
“Oooh~ So scarrryyyy~”
Onizuka’s cocky grin was replaced with a malicious one. He was absolutely fuming with anger.
“Fine! I see you’re that eager to die! I will grant your wish and end this match quickly! Die, Shitty Momo!!!”
With a pathetic yell that one would expect from a small fry like him, Onizuka charged at me. His level increase wasn’t a lie though. He was moving much faster than before. Without any hesitation, Onizuka swung his sword straight for my neck. However…
Ping.
I caught his sword with just the tip of my finger.
“It’s nothing complicated, really. With your attack power, you won’t be able to so much as to scratch me. That’s just how big the level gap is between you and me.”
“Don’t mess with me! I’m already level 50! I’m as strong as a B-rank explorer!!”
He continued to swing his sword relentlessly, but his swordplay was far too slow for me to take seriously. There was no way he would be able to hit me, someone who had maxed the level cap. And true to my bold declaration, I only caught all of his attack with a single finger. Of course, I also kept an eye on Shiori. While Onizuka himself wasn’t a real threat to us, but we couldn’t afford to ignore the yakuza.
I had agreed to let Shiori come to watch my match with Onizuka, so I was responsible for her safety. I mustn’t let her get hurt. I kept glancing over at her, but she seemed fine. She gave me a bright smile and flashed me a thumbs-up.
“Haa.. Haa… Haa…”
Meanwhile, Onizuka was already out of breath. I had done nothing but defend against his attack while keeping an eye on Shiori. But even with that, Onizuka couldn’t manage to land a single hit on me. Even if his level had increased from level 30 to level 50, a mere 20 levels were just a minor change from my perspective. I could deal with someone like him with a flick of my finger. What kept bugging me was the source of his experience juice. It was hard to find even one experience juice, no matter how long you farmed in a dungeon. Since he managed to raise 20 levels just by consuming experience juice, that meant the yakuza backing him must be quite powerful. A group of yakuza at that level must have prepared something else. There must be something hiding behind Onizuka’s grand bravado.
“No-No way… Yo-You’ve got to be kidding me… You…”
And it seemed Onizuka had reached the limit of his stamina. He was staggering on his feet, barely able to lift his sword and yet, he still managed to swing it down with all of his remaining strength. Of course, I blocked his pathetic attack effortlessly with a single finger.
“Hah. Is that all you’ve got after all that big talk? There’s no way you can defeat me with just… This.”
“Haa… Haa…. Haa… Too bad for you! You let your guard down…!”
While shouting loudly in between panting, Onizuka suddenly jumped back. He held his left hand out toward me and bore a triumphant smile on his face as he boldly exclaimed.
“I’ve learned a new spell thanks to increasing my level! Take this! Beginner Magic-Fireball!!”
As I watched Onizuka, who was casting fireball spells with that stupid face of his, I remembered that I had also learned a new skill recently.

★ Magic Damage Reflect (NEW!)

Oh, here it is. Magic Damage Reflect.
Onizuka had been kind enough to give me a good opportunity to use it. Might as well try it out.
“Don’t be surprised when I tell you I’m actually incredibly gifted in magic! I can create 50 of these fireballs!”
“Ooh. I see. How impressive. Alright. Magic Damage Reflect.”
“Hahahaha!! Stop with that useless resistance! You won’t be able to take this many fireballs in one piece! Wait…? Huh?! My magic got reflected?!”
Boom!
Boom! Boom!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
And then…
“GY-GYAAAAAAHHHH!!”
Onizuka let out a loud scream as he was directly hit by the 50 fireballs he had just unleashed.
