Chapter 21 – Seconds Before Meeting the Kotobuki Father
I had somehow imagined that their house was a mansion, but when I actually saw it, it was just a normal house.
Well, it was a high-rise apartment, so they must belong to the wealthy class, but in my mind, I pictured something like a huge mansion with a sprawling garden.
“It’s on the twenty-fifth floor. Let’s go.”
Yuzuki, in high spirits, opened the auto-lock entrance gate and invited me inside.
As I followed behind her, Hikari was pursing her lips. Curious about what she was saying, I strained my ears.
“Ao, you idiot. Pervert.”
She was sulking.
I didn’t think it would be right to leave her like this, so I tried to do something to cheer her up.
“Umm, Hikari.”
“What is it?”
With her sulky expression still intact, Hikari replied in a tone of displeasure.
“Next time I’ll ride with you, so don’t be too upset, okay?”
“You don’t have to worry about me. After all, my chest isn’t enough to satisfy you.”
She continued to act pouty.
So I decided to say exactly what I was thinking.
“It’s true that I gave in to Yuzuki’s temptation this time. I can’t deny that. But regardless of whether Hikari has small breasts or not, I still want to ride a bike with her.”
When I said that, Hikari asked me, “Why?”
“Because I enjoy talking to Hikari. I want to talk about trivial things while watching the scenery go by together.”
“……”
Hikari had a sulky look on her face, but gradually, her expression started to lighten.
“…Ehehe.”
She let out a weird laugh, but it seemed like her mood had improved.
“Trying to flirt with Hikari when I wasn’t looking, you’re really sneaky.”
It’s incredibly tough to deal with two people at the same time.
Hibino had said that boys tend to yearn for harem situations, but now that I’m in a similar situation, I can’t say I feel the same way.

I’ve never liked visiting a friend’s place.
I didn’t have that many opportunities to do so in the first place, but I played with people more in elementary school than I do now, so I had come over to my friends’ houses.
I just feel uncomfortable being at their home. It’s so awkward to meet their parents.
And now, here I am, voluntarily going to meet a classmate’s parents. You really never know what life has to offer.
The elevator rose to the 25th floor one by one. As I watched the electronic display showing us getting closer to our destination floor, I tried to calm my nervous heart.
But of course, the closer we got to our destination, the more nervous I got.
“You’re nervous, aren’t you?”
“Of course I am.”
Beside me, Yuzuki looked up at me and said in a light tone. I was feeling completely different from the girls who are just going home normally.
“What’s your father like?”
From past memories, I had an image of my friends’ fathers as scary. Even if they weren’t, I just thought they were scary because they were grown up men.
“He’s kind, you know?”
“To his daughters’ friends, too?”
“I wonder about that…”
Hikari had a difficult look on her face.
I guess she doesn’t often have her father meet her friends.
Especially when it’s a guy friend. I’m sure fathers are more wary of boys than they are of girls.
“What do you think?”
While I was thinking about it, Hikari asked Yuzuki, who was standing opposite me.
Yuzuki muttered, “Hmm,” and put her hand to her chin.
“One thing I can say is that our father dotes on us.”
“Really?”
But still, I was invited today, after all. Not to brag, but I was invited as thanks for saving his wife’s life.
There’s no way he’d be harsh on me, right? No, it’s gonna be fine. There will be no problem.
“Oh, I know, Ao-kun. How about we take this chance to introduce you as my boyfriend, too? Once our relationship is approved by our parents, things would be a lot easier, wouldn’t they?”
Yuzuki clasped her hands together and suggested it as if it was a great idea. Hikari was the first to react to her words before I did.
“That’s a great idea. I want Mom and Dad to support my relationship with Ao.”
“What are you talking about? Ao-kun is obviously my boyfriend.”
“……”
“……”
“Stop glaring at each other with me in between.”
As I calmed them down, the elevator finally reached the twenty-fifth floor.
Before I knew it, the tension that had been dominating my body had disappeared somewhere. It would be more accurate to say that I had forgotten about it by talking to the two of them.
“Hey, does your father know how you two feel about me?”
“What feelings? I’m so dense and clueless that unless you say it clearly, I won’t understand.”
That’s definitely the kind of response someone who knows their own feelings is saying.
“No, well…”
It’s really embarrassing to say it myself.
I hesitated to speak, but Yuzuki just waited for me to speak, and Hikari had a confused look on her face.
“…That the two of you have feelings for me.”
“What kind of feelings?”
Yuzuki pressed in even closer.
Her eyes were full of expectation, and there was something sadistic about them. it’s clear that she’s enjoying herself.
“That you two like…me.”
When I finally said it, Yuzuki, satisfied, nodded with a pleased look on her face.
“As for that, he doesn’t know. High school girls don’t usually talk about their love lives with their father, you know.”
“Well, you can’t be sure of that.”
“I haven’t told Dad either. It’s kind of embarrassing.”
If they do have such feelings, it’s natural they wouldn’t reveal them in front of their father. And if he doesn’t know about it, then I can approach this as just an invited guest.
It’s okay.
Let’s just get this over with without any problems.
Just give my greetings, chat, and then when the time is right, leave.
“Here it is.”
After getting off the elevator and walking a little, we arrived in front of a door. I took a quick look outside, and the cars driving on the road looked like toys.
Not only that, but everything, even the buildings, looked like toys.
We’re really high up.
“Come on, let’s go.”
Yuzuki opened the door and went in first, and Hikari pushed me forward as I hesitated.
