Clap. Clap. Clap
It was something that froze my punch, which was half an inch away from hitting ryuji.
Not loud. Not angry.
But a chill went down my back. Not from the sound—from the vibe behind it. I couldn’t see it, but I felt it.
*If I try to fight this person, I will clearly lose.*
The realization hit me like a gut-check. No logic. Just instinct. Because it’s been a day coming from isekai but it seems like I can sense the strength that includes experience.
I turned my head to see on my left.
There she is.
A girl in a school uniform, leaning against the gate. Black mask covering her face. It looks like she has been bored until now.
The air got heavier around her.
She wasn’t even trying. But my environmental sensory saying that she is trying.
I just lowered my fist because I took the revenge.
I let Ryuji’s collar slipped from my grip. The second it did, the girl spoke—voice calm, but sharp enough to draw blood.
“So. You can fight, huh?”
I stood up and faced her fully. It is clear that she wants to test me. “What’s it to you?”
Her mask hid her face, but her tone? All teeth.
“You’ve caught attention from every district. The way you fight—it’s reckless. Bold. If you had fought differently, maybe you would get a little warning before things get worse.”
This wasn’t some rando. She knew things.
“And?” I pushed.
She tilted her head, just a little. Like a cat sizing up a mouse.
“Let me give you a clear warning… you’re going to get targeted. Anytime. Be ready for it.”
The silence between us stretched. But it was clear that our conversation is already ended. I picked my bag and sling over my shoulder and leave the place.
(Narrative changed)
As he walked away, her voice trailed after him—soft, almost laughing.
“Aah, no wonder Joō loves him… even when he was weak. He’ll experience many fights—one by one. Hehehe.”
Hikaru’s steps didn’t falter, but his skin prickled. Eyes on his back. Danger. Something else, worse.
Behind him, the girl dropped into a crouch in front of Ryuji and Daiki. All the playfulness drained from her voice.
“Pathetic,” she said, like she was bored. “Couldn’t even touch him. And you thought you won?”
Ryuji tries to talk back, “Shut the hell up, bit—”
Next thing he knew, her fingers were knotted in his hair, wrenching his head back. “You think you have the right to ‘talk back’?” Her voice sweet, like poisoned honey.“If he can beat you like this… then I can fold you like origami.”
Ryuji thrashed. Didn’t matter. Her grip didn’t budge.
“You’re nothing,”she murmured, right in his ear. “But hey—I’ll love seeing you get crushed by my own hands.”
She shoved him to the ground, then stood, brushing off her skirt like he was the dirt.
By the time her footsteps faded, Ryuji and Daiki were still sitting there.
Beaten before any of them strikes first.
