The Whispers of a Yandere - Chapter 49, Human!
The air was quiet save for the faint rustle of fabric as Ayame shifted her position beside Sora.
Her fingers, still gently combing through his hair, stilled when she felt a subtle movement beneath her touch.
Sora stirred, his breath hitching softly.
A faint tremor ran through his body as his eyelids fluttered open, revealing eyes clouded with uncertainty.
“….Sora,” Ayame let out softly, her voice barely audible.
She gave off an unnatural calmness, anyone conscious could tell she was holding back from hugging Sora tightly.
“How are you feeling?”
Sora stared at Ayame, his gaze unfocused at first as he blinked slowly. His lips parted slightly as if trying to answer, but no words came out.
His breaths were shallow and uneven, it was clear his brain was still trying to process a lot of information.
When no answer came, Ayame spoke again, her voice soft yet steady. “…It’s okay,” she murmured, her hand resuming its soothing motion. “You’re safe.”
Her words seemed to ground him. Sora’s wide, uncertain eyes softened every so slightly.
But the trembling didn’t cease. He reached up, gripping Ayame’s other hand, gripping it as if it was his only lifeline.
Ayame’s lips trembled, her heart ached at the sight of his vulnerability.
Though… Deep down… She felt a weird sense of happiness. Seeing Sora helpless, almost begging for her presence… It seemed so beautiful… So addicting… So intoxicating… She wanted him to be-
‘Wait, shit, no. What am I even thinking?’
Ayame pushed those thoughts away as she took a deep breath.
Even though she managed to control herself now, would she be able to do it in the future?
Her hand tightened around his, grounding herself as much as him,
“Sora,” Her voice steadier this time, “I am here, I always will be,”
The words seemed to break something inside him. His eyes glistened, and his lips trembled as a small, choked sound finally escaped his throat.
“Aya…” His voice cracked, barely above a whisper, but it was more than enough to ring in Ayame’s mind.
“Shh” She soothed, leaning closer, “I’ve got you, my love,”
Sora’s grip tightened further as tears started streaming down his face.
A dam had broken, and it flooded the entire room with the full weight of his emotions—fear, confusion, understanding, grief—all spilling out in quiet, broken sobs.
Ayame’s eyes trembled as she watched him cry, his small, gasping breaths tugging at her soul. She couldn’t hold back any longer, she needed to be closer to him.
Slowly, she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him against her bosom.
She planted his head with constant kisses as she kept murmuring, “It’s okay”
her hands caressed his back, “Don’t hold back the tears, dear. Cry as much as you need to,”
Sora clung to her as if she were his lifeline, his tears soaking into her pure black shirt.
His cries grew louder, unrestrained, as years of buried pain resurfaced all at once.
Minutes passed as Sora’s cries started to subside, his body trembling with the effort of releasing so much at once. He rested his forehead on Ayame’s collarbone.
“I am sorry….” he rasped, his voice hoarse and broken.
Ayame pulled his head back slightly, cupping his cheeks, their gaze directly meeting each other, faces so close their nose touched.
“You don’t have to apologize for anything, Sora” She said, her voice tender yet firm,
“You’ve been through…. Too much. Expressing it doesn’t make you weak… No! Rather it makes you human,”
Sora didn’t say anything, but the tension in his body had significantly lessened.
The room fell silent again, except for the sound of slow breathing.
