The Whispers of a Yandere - Chapter 48, Familial Warmth!
The morning sun barely peeked through the heavy curtains, casting faint shadows on the walls
Ayame sat by the edge of the bed, her hands gently combing through Sora’s hair. He had fallen asleep while Ayame was comforting him, his body twitched every now and then.
Ayame’s gaze remained soft as she gazed at him, her expression a mixture of fear and confusion.

(Moments After Sora Had Fallen Asleep)
Once Sora’s breathing evened out and his trembling eased, Ayame quietly reached for her phone.
With hesitant fingers, she dialed Dr. Sato.
The line rang twice before Dr. Sato’s familiar, calm voice answered,
“Miss Ayame, is everything alright?”
“Doctor,” Ayame began, her voice low to avoid disturbing Sora.
“I need your advice. Something… happened.”
“What’s wrong? It’s about Sora-kun, right?”
Dr. Sato’s tone shifted instantly, laced with concern.
“…Yes,” She replied, glancing at the boy beside her,
“It seems like he remembered something, it was like he woke up from a nightmare. He kept mentioning someone—someone who took everything from him…”
There was a sharp huff of breath on the other end of the line, followed by a rare, uncharacteristic curse from Dr. Sato.
“…Shit,” he muttered under his breath, his professionalism cracking for a moment. “I am certain you know what’s going on….”
Ayame stiffened and stuttered, “His parents…”
“Yes,” Dr. Sato replied grimly. “That’s most likely the case. If he’s mentioning someone who ‘took everything from him,’ it’s highly probable that most of his memories are beginning to resurface. The trauma surrounding their deaths would be at the forefront.”
Ayame’s hands clenched around her phone. The thought of her love living through such a horrible past made her heart ache in agony, “Wait, if he’s remembering it all at once…. Isn’t that really bad? Wouldn’t it overwhelm him?”
“Certainly,” Dr. Sato confirmed, his tone serious, “That’s why it’s crucial to monitor his mental state closely. The sudden flood of memories can trigger severe emotional distress, and if not addressed properly…”
Ayame gulped, her gaze returned to Sora. His face, though peaceful, still bore the signs of agony from earlier, “Should I bring him to the hospital?”
“I’d suggest not,”
“Huh?”
“Yes, you’re still considerably calm, so I am guessing he is relatively okay,” Dr. Sato paused for a moment.
“Also, it’s best not to move too much at this moment, he needs rest and familial warmth, which only you can give as of now. More than anything else, he needs you,”
Ayame’s cheeks flushed softly at Dr. Sato’s words, though her grip on the phone tightened. The weight of the situation outweighed any embarrassment she might have felt.
“I understand,” she said, her voice steady despite the turmoil in her chest. “I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him safe.”
“Very well,” Dr. Sato replied, his tone reassuring, “Right now, your very presence is the most effective treatment. Be patient with him. I know your feelings for him are unhealthily obsessive, but try not to overwhelm,”
Dr. Sato paused for a moment,
“This will be one of the most delicate times of his life, don’t push to talk about what he remembered, and if he does it himself, just listen. That alone can help him process what he is going through.”
Ayame nodded, even though the doctor couldn’t see her.
“Call me immediately if his condition worsens or anything unusual happens,” Dr. Sato instructed, “I’ll make sure to visit him personally if necessary,”
“Thank you,” Ayame murmured.
As the call ended, she set the phone aside with a sigh, her fingers still gently combing Sora’s hair. Her touch tender and reassuring.
Familial warmth… More than anything, he needs me.
The thought sent a mix of emotion running through her—pride, happiness and an overwhelming sense of protectiveness.
