The Whispers of a Yandere - Chapter 39, Pleasantly Surprised?
(Present Day)
Today was a school day, so Ayame and Sora had to wake up early, but there was a sense of ease in the air knowing that they didn’t have to rush, thanks to Ayame’s car. Initially, Sora had been reluctant to use it, not wanting everyone to find out about their relationship.
“Sora-kun, we already walked together back from school, and for the whole time I’ve been in this school, I‘ve only interacted with you, if it’s about finding out, they already suspect it,” Ayame pointed out, her tone a mix of reassurance and teasing.
Before Sora could say anything, Ayame continued, “And besides, why does it even matter? In this world, only your opinion matters; otherwise, I don’t give a rat’s ass,” Sora was caught off guard by her use of bad words, he wasn’t used to it, though not like he minded.
“Mhm, I understand, sorry for being hesitant, just that I don’t want my Uncle to find out,” Sora responded, his voice tinged with concern.
“You don’t have to worry about that at all! I swear, he won’t even be able to look at you, and even if he does, the consequences won’t be pretty,” Ayame’s voice took a dark turn with her last words, her crimson eyes gleaming with dangerous resolve.
—
“I will keep your lunch, come to our last spot during lunchtime,” Ayame said with a gentle smile,
‘This almost feels like we are husband and wife!! Uuu!!!’ Her mind was a complete mess compared to her outer calm atmosphere.
“Mhm, and it seems like we are here,” Sora replied with a hum and looked at the approaching gate of the school.
“Where do you park this car? I have never seen it before, and why didn’t you use it while going back home?” Sora asked, these questions had been killing him from curiosity.
“Well, uhm, uhh, you see, I–I, I didn’t use the car for school until now….” Ayame’s cheeks developed a warm redness, spreading into her neck. She couldn’t look at him directly, staring outside.
An amused smirk was visible on Sora’s face, “Is that so~” He teased.
“*Hmph*! Don’t tease me!” Ayame’s delicate cheeks puffed up.
“Haha, but you do it all the time, take this as payback,” Sora chuckled.
“Well…. Fine!”
“Hahahaha” Sora’s smile echoed in the car, “Sorry for the sudden sound, *cough*” Sora apologised, directing his words to the driver.
The driver’s eyes widened slightly, but soon returned to his former stoic form, “It’s of no concern, young lord,” His words were professional yet there was a hint of warmth in them.
As the car smoothly came to a stop in front of the school, Ayame turned to Sora, her usual confident smile plastered on her face, “Let’s go!”
Sora nodded, a trace of apprehension apparent on his face, “Mhm,”
They exited the car together, as soon as they got out, Sora and Ayame sensed several gazes directed at them, whispers started spreading around, some barely audible.
“What is that guy doing with Tsubasa Senpai?” one student murmured, confusion evident in their tone.
“They always hang out together, you don’t know?” Another replied with his mouth wide.
“No?” The first one said, clearly puzzled.
“Which rock have you been living under? Tsubasa Senpai doesn’t talk to anyone other than him! They always hang out in the library during recess time, also recently people have seen them walking home together” The second student explained.
“So… They are dating?” That was the conclusion most would come to.
“I am like 99% sure they are,”
“Kinda cute,”
“Yeah, I agree… But wait, Aren’t we supposed to be jealous? Like all the other novels?”
“The fuck, why? I may be dumb, but I’m not ret–”
(A/N: Cough, cough, let’s not use that word publicly, *cough*)
“Oh, my bad, wait, who the fuck was that? The maidenless Author???”
(A/N: Bruh…. I want a Yandere, okay? Those are rare, smh, hit me up if you find any)
“A person of culture, I see!” The first student started speaking to the sky.
“Are you okay?” The second said with concern.

Ayame was pleasantly surprised by the reactions around her. She had anticipated some negative whispers or judgmental looks aimed at Sora, but instead, most of the comments were complimentary.
‘I suppose that keeps my kill count lower than anticipated, and beating up that one person in the cafeteria really worked wonders! No one bullies my husband! Well, I got wind of it before that bastard could actually do it.’ Ayame thought proudly, a small smirk playing on her lips.
Truth be told, most of the students at the school didn’t care enough to bully anyone—they were focused on their studies and ambitions.
But, as with any group, there were always exceptions. Those who dared to step out of line had been swiftly and brutally dealt with by a certain someone.
Ayame’s reputation as someone not to be messed with was solid, especially after she had beaten that person publicly without any consequences. She didn’t back down from abusing her family’s power; there was no such thing as a moral compass for her.
