Volume 02 Chapter 20: Training Consulation
Side: Yuki
“Everyone, listen carefully. Regarding the four-person rooms I’m about to show you…”
Right now, Eris is explaining things to all 57 members of the Fairy Tribe.
“Wow, this place is amazing. How does Yuki-san have such tools and knowledge?”
The Elder, Naruja, is reading the handmade pamphlet for the explanation with admiration.
“That’s not something I can answer here. Can we discuss it after guiding everyone from your village?”
“Oh, sorry. It’s all so fascinating, I couldn’t help myself. But it seems quite challenging. Are you deliberately switching between two speech styles?”
“You noticed?”
“Yes. When you use ‘I’ as ‘ore,’ you’re acting as the Dungeon Master. Now, using ‘I’ as ‘watashi,’ you’re just one of the dungeon operators. Am I wrong?”
“Spot on.”
The Elder’s pretty sharp.
Noticing my deliberate speech switch… I figured unfamiliar residents would see me as a rookie operator, so I did it on purpose.
“No need to worry. People unaware of your Master side will just think you’re brash or inexperienced.”
“Was it that obvious?”
“No, just a hunch.”
While we’re talking at the back of the room, Eris finishes her explanation.
“Alright, everyone. That’s all for the room briefing. It might be inconvenient, but please form groups of four. If your family has more than four, let us know, and we’ll add extra bedding.”
Nice, she’s following the manual perfectly.
Manuals are key, right?
There’ll probably be issues, so we’ll need adjustments, but still.
“Elder, what about your room? We can arrange a private one if you prefer.”
“Normally, I’d insist on staying with my village, but since I’ll need to talk with you often, a private room would be best. Preferably close to everyone else’s rooms, though…”
“Of course. We’ve reserved two private rooms for the four-person room managers. Let’s head there.”
We’re currently in the group training facility on the third floor’s residential area. The facility’s split—living spaces on the right, training spaces on the left.
I wanted to make the training facility three stories tall, but…
“Hey! Onii-san, even concrete has load limits!! Don’t just build a three-story one!! It’d be a nightmare to explain!!”
Ratsu and Eris fiercely opposed it.
Apparently, on this continent, only the super-rich or nobles have two- or three-story buildings.
No point building one just for immigrants, and showing off tech would complicate explanations, so I reluctantly settled for a single-story concrete facility.
The four-person living spaces have two bunk beds on either side.
Plus a small living area and kitchen. Naturally, a mini-fridge too.
Toilet and bath are separate.
Hmm, how to describe it? Like a remodeled school building?
One building can house about 300 people. That’s 75 four-person rooms.
There are also private rooms for trainers, among other things.
While I’m thinking about this, Eris, the guide, stops.
“Here’s the right-hand section for your use. The rooms are all the same, so pick any you like. It’s first-come, first-served, but if fights get too bad, we’ll ban the room’s use. Please choose.”
Eris finishes, and the fairies rush to form groups of four and pick rooms.
“Once you’ve chosen a room, your luggage is still at the gate exit, so please bring it in.”
Guess I’ll guide too.
“Elder, your room’s over here.”
“Thank you kindly.”
With limited private rooms, the only option near the Fairy Tribe is fixed.
“Here we are. As you heard, it’s designed for humans, so it might be a bit inconvenient…”
“No, it’s fine. Look.”
The Elder floats up with magic, easily reaching the kitchen or levitating a cup.
Wow, that’s handy.
“You can use this closet for clothes or small items.”
“Really convenient. You’ve prepared this for every room?”
“Yes. Immigrants stay here temporarily to get used to dungeon life.”
“I see. Temporary means you’ve got other places to live too?”
“Yes, we’ve got workplaces, entertainment facilities, all sorts.”
“Wow, impressive. Oh, sorry, I need to unpack…”
“My apologies. I’ll wait outside.”
I step out.
The hallway’s bustling with fairies carrying luggage.
My eyes catch Eris watching the scene.
“Hey, Eris. How’s it going? Any issues?”
“No, nothing major. Your manual’s working perfectly. Without it, we’d have missed steps or gotten things out of order.”
The manual Eris holds has a checklist to catch any mix-ups in order.
“If I had to nitpick, the toilet size doesn’t suit the Fairy Tribe.”
“Yeah, rebuilding just for that’s a bit…”
“Right. If they were staying permanently, we’d adjust, but…”
“It’s just a training facility for now. They might move elsewhere, so let’s hold off.”
“Yes. For today, we’ll stick to the manual’s schedule.”
“No point cramming too much. Tomorrow’s the dungeon’s purpose, training facility tour, bath instructions, and a brief work explanation, right?”
“Yes. The dungeon’s purpose and bath instructions are the priorities. Work will just be touched on.”
The manual’s training program is split into seven stages:
Stage 1: Headcount, ID issuance, guiding to living spaces, explaining room tools.
Stage 2: Explaining dungeon purpose, training facility tour, bath instructions, brief work overview.
Stage 3: Entertainment facility tour and usage, detailed work explanation.
Stage 4: Dungeon facility tour, workplace visits.
Stage 5: Assigning jobs based on preferences, starting full training.
These are planned at one stage per day.
Stage 6: Training period.
Stage 7: Training ends, move to residential area, begin life as full residents.
The time for stages 6 and 7 is TBD.
Future slaves will need time to buy themselves back, so training might take longer.
“Oh, right. These aren’t slaves…”
“Yeah, that’ll shift the schedule a bit.”
As we discuss, the Elder steps out.
“Sorry for the wait.”
“No, it’s fine. Sorry to jump right in, but can we discuss what’s next?”
“Of course. Nana, a moment?”
“Yes, what is it?”
By chance, the Elder stops Nana, the fairy Kovil and I rescued.
“I’m going to discuss the future with Yuki-san and the others. Tell everyone to behave.”
“Got it!! …Um, you’re Yuki-san, right?”
“…Huh? How’d you know? I thought you were unconscious when I carried you.”
“W-Well, I can sense people by their magic!! Th-Thank you for saving me!! Your healing magic was so warm!!”
Her face turns red as she thanks me.
“Wait, hold on. Lulua did most of the healing.”
“Yes, Lulua-sama healed most of my injuries, but you kept [Regeneration] on me, right?”
“Oh, busted.”
“I knew it! Thank you so much!!”
“Nana, if you’re done thanking him, can you handle my request?”
“Oh, sorry!! I’ll go tell everyone!!”
Nana rushes off to inform the Fairy Tribe.
“Eris, where’s everyone else?”
“They’re in Training Room A, holding a debrief.”
“Then let’s have the meeting there. Elder, is that okay?”
“Yes.”
We head to Training Room A with the Elder, and…
“Ughhh!! We didn’t have time to take photos!! Push it to tomorrow!!”
“Calm down, Ratsu. Tomorrow’s schedule is lighter to account for stuff like that. Tori, any issues?”
Milly’s leading the debrief.
“No, the Fairy Tribe was cooperative, so guiding them went smoothly.”
“They’re amazing, right? Flying with magic all the time. I’ve seen them in towns, but never got to talk.”
“I was confident in my magic, but… my identity’s crumbling.”
Tori, Riel, and Kaya give their reports (?).
The adults are discussing, while the kids…
“They ate the onigiri so eagerly!”
“Yeah, the egg furikake was a hit.”
“It’s delicious, after all.”
Such wholesome chatter.
Oh, Elju and Oriel are on standby, so they’re not here.
“Hey, good work, everyone. This was a solid rehearsal, right?”
“…Onii-san, I’m done for unless you sleep beside me tonight.”
“Everything’s going smoothly.”
Ratsu and Milly respond on behalf of the group.
Well, Ratsu’s off, but whatever.
“I brought the Fairy Tribe’s Elder to discuss what’s next and ensure there are no issues for them. Cool?”
“Sounds great.”
Ratsu answers, and everyone nods.
“I’m Naruja, the Fairy Tribe Elder. Thank you for taking us in. I’m deeply grateful. If there’s anything we can help with, please let us know. We’ll do our best. I also have things to confirm, so thank you.”
“Alright, everyone, take a seat. I’ll explain to the Elder.”
It takes about three hours to cover the current situation and future plans.
“…I see. This manual, and the training textbook? Impressive. Even granting DP usage rights… This place really isn’t aiming for a Yuki-san-centered monarchy.”
The Elder grasps most of it.
This fairy’s no pushover.
Ratsu, representing everyone, engages with her.
“Yes. So, Onii-san participates as one of the operators. Elder, would you consider joining us as the Fairy Tribe representative?”
“I’d like to request that myself. Choosing someone else from the Fairy Tribe could cause issues. Until the next election—whenever that is—I’d like to represent.”
“Thank you. Next issue: the dungeon’s low on funds. Even if you work, we can’t pay wages right now…”
“We’re under your protection, so unpaid work is fine for now. In five days, Rocheur’s aid should arrive, right?”
“Yes, that’s the plan, but since it’s not here yet, we can’t promise…”
“I see. In that case, let us use the forge. We’ll produce items to contribute. Selling them should generate some funds.”
“Hmm, okay, next…”
We hammer out the details.
It’s 10:00 PM now.
Ugh, this might go past midnight.
“Onii-san, quit spacing out! I’ll tackle you!!”
Ratsu snaps at me.
Am I the bad guy here?
