Volume 02 Chapter 09: The Wolf Girl Shines Too
Side: Tori
Nice to meet you, I’m Tori.
This time, I’ll be sharing the dungeon management story from my perspective.
That said, the current discussion about the residents’ rooms, led by Yuki-san, is mostly handled by Ratsu-san, Eris-san, and Milly-san. We beastman tribes and the kids haven’t been able to contribute much.
I’m grateful to Yuki-san and want to help somehow, but… I’m not very good with my head, so this kind of thing isn’t my strong suit.
I’m better at physical tasks.
“Hey, Tori. Shouldn’t we say something too? I don’t want Yuki-san to think we’re useless.”
Riel, the catman tribe girl, flattens her cat ears and consults me.
She probably wants to help Yuki-san in her own way.
“Hmm. But Eris-san and the others are handling it well. Can we come up with any good ideas?”
“…But, but… I’m good at physical work, but I want to help with other stuff too. Not just for Yuki-san, but I think leaving it all to Eris and them isn’t right.”
I get what Riel’s saying. Yuki-san told us about “right person, right job,” meaning we each have a place to shine, so not contributing here isn’t a problem.
Even so, he lets us join the meetings and gives us a chance to speak.
That’s why it’s frustrating not to help in moments like this.
“Hey, Kaya, got any good ideas?”
Riel calls out to Kaya, who’s been sipping cocoa leisurely.
Kaya’s a foxman tribe girl, unlike us, specializing in magic-based combat.
I’m hoping she might offer a different perspective.
“…None. The talk’s settled on private rooms. Butting in now might reset the discussion.”
Kaya doesn’t talk much, but she’s clearly listening and thinks it’s best not to interfere further.
“No luck with Kaya either. I think private rooms are nice, but with everyone here, sharing a room doesn’t feel embarrassing or anything. Especially since you and Kaya are beastmen, right? People would just chalk weird stuff up to instincts. I mean, Tori, it’s not like it’s new for us.”
“…I agree. But private rooms are definitely more convenient. This photo—I want to display it in my own room. …It’s a treasure.”
I understand Riel. We’ve lived together this whole time, so I’ve got no complaints.
But like Kaya says, the photo Yuki-san gave us earlier—I’d want to keep it in a personal room.
Me and Yuki-san, me with Riel and Kaya, me with everyone, me with Asrin…
I’ve got at least ten photos. Displaying them all in a shared room would be a bother.
Plus, if someone accidentally threw them out or crumpled them, I’d be furious.
But Riel seems reluctant to give up shared rooms and says to me,
“Hmm. But we want private rooms because we have stuff like photos to keep, right? Newcomers won’t have that…”
“…Yuki said they’ll buy things over time and learn the value of private rooms.”
Oh, wait—does that mean Asrin and the others will live alone in private rooms too?
“Um, Yuki-san, I have a question.”
“Hm? Tori, got a good idea?”
“No, you said we’d all get private rooms. Does that include Asrin and the others?”
“Yeah, of course. They each get a room too.”
“So, you won’t sleep with Asrin and them anymore?”
“With private rooms, there’s no reason to sleep together, right?”
Yuki-san’s casual reply makes Asrin and the others freeze.
“N-No way!! I wanna sleep with Onii-chan!!”
“Nii-sama, I don’t need a private room!! I wanna stay together!!”
“…Yikes, Yuki. You should’ve worded that better.”
Labiris speaks as if she can’t bear to watch. Asrin and Filia are sobbing, clinging to Yuki-san.
“Sorry, sorry. Stop crying. It’s fine to sleep together. Having your own room doesn’t mean you can’t come to mine.”
Yuki-san pats Asrin and Filia’s heads to calm them.
“Um, I caused this, but hear me out. I don’t think kids like Asrin need private rooms forced on them. Sometimes it’s better to stay with people they’ve lived with.”
As I say this, Eris-san seems to catch on and speaks to Yuki-san.
“…Tori-san’s got a point. We agreed on private rooms for their benefits, but it’s not like we dislike shared rooms. Why not give private rooms to those who want them?”
“Good idea. We’re expecting kids like Asrin too. We’ll need spaces for group living.”
“Then, Onii-san, how about charging rent for private rooms? It’d be a privilege for those who work hard and useful for couples. Though it’d split into personal and family rooms.”
“Right, I agree with Ratsu. Make private rooms a goal to aim for. Start with shared rooms like ours to teach newcomers the rules and lifestyle. Those who don’t want private rooms can stay in shared ones and guide new residents.”
Ratsu-san and Eris-san neatly organize my thoughts.
These meetings are so helpful. Even someone uneducated like me gets heard.
“Onii-san, instead of building for just 300, why not plan for 1,000 with private and shared rooms for the future?”
“Good call, Ratsu. Too big, and management’s tough, but that size works if newcomers handle cleaning. Tori, thanks for speaking up. Proof we’re better together.”
Yuki-san pats my head.
I’m not a kid like Asrin, but it’s Yuki-san doing it—I can’t say no.
Oh, my ears… kyuun.
What happened to Asrin and the others, who were crying earlier?
Their sobs have stopped.
“…Asrin, Filia. Listen to me, and you can sleep with Yuki forever.”
“Really, Labiris-chan?!”
“Forever with Nii-sama?!”
Yup, Labiris is calming them down.
“The way is… become Yuki’s wife! If you bear his baby, he’ll stay with you even more!”
“I’ll do it!! I’ll be Onii-chan’s wife!!”
“I’ll bear Nii-sama’s baby!!”
“Good answer. With that spirit, you’ll be great wives.”
Labiris smirks.
I keep thinking—Labiris is kinda dark, isn’t she?
“Wait, Labiris, what’re you teaching Asrin and Filia?! They’re still innocent kids…”
Before Yuki-san finishes, the two puff out their chests.
“Onii-chan, don’t underestimate us!! We know how babies are made!! You stick your pee in, zkyuun, and bakyuun!!”
“Then Nii-sama’s pee goes pee, zgyan, and dokaan!!”
“Why do you know that?!”
“…Yuki, female slaves are usually bought for that, so even kids know. They’re taught to please their buyers.”
“Gah!! Labiris, that’s too real and creepy!!”
Yuki-san’s embarrassed reaction is… pure? Refined?
Why does it feel odd? That’s what slaves are for, normally. Ratsu steps in to get the derailed talk back on track.
“Onii-san, don’t waste time on this. With Tori’s input, let’s finalize the housing plan. We’ve got tons to do in the 15 days before Selaria-sama arrives. Don’t stumble early in construction.”
“Right. We’ll count on Asrin and the others’ enthusiasm, but preparing for immigrants comes first.”
“Huh? Eris, you’re just ignoring Asrin and Filia’s words—or agreeing?!”
“…? No denying it. If it’s not forced and they’re eager, it’s up to you, Yuki-san.”
“Come on, Onii-san. Let’s head to the third floor for inspection. We need to build within three days, or we won’t make it.”
Ratsu and Eris-san drag Yuki-san out.
We follow them out of the room.
On the way, Riel and Kaya praise me.
“Nice job, Tori! We helped too!!”
“…Tori, you’re amazing.”
“No, you two helped me think of it. Let’s keep it up.”
Yuki-san says our real moment to shine is coming.
The real work starts now.
I’ve got to work hard to create the happy place Yuki-san envisions.
