Chapter 79: I Get Excited When It Gets Dark
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Hey, seriously? Is this really a movie theater?”
“Yup. I reserved seats for you, Ryuuto-san.”
While Kyouka beamed with a smile, Ryuuto was utterly stunned. What they had arranged for him was a private suite known as the “Platinum Room.” Located on a balcony directly in front of the massive screen, the private room was outfitted with the highest quality sofas, side tables, ottomans, and coat hangers. It was less like a theater and more like a luxury hotel room, despite being within a cinema.
“Well, technically it’s all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat here, but I thought buying drinks at the concession stand adds to the atmosphere, so I went with that.”
“Whoa. There’s a menu even though it’s a movie theater? What is this place? A high-end hotel?”
“I-It’s my first time in such a fancy room too.”
“Eh? It’s normal for me, though.”
“Tch, bourgeois brat.”
Rion clicked her tongue. Realizing what she just said, she glanced at Ryuuto with a forced chuckle, but it was too late. This must have been her true self. Still, Ryuuto preferred someone like Rion—straightforward and easy to read—over girls who always wore a mask and hid their true feelings.
“It’s not really that bourgeois. Sixty thousand yen for four people. It’s pretty cheap if you ask me.”
Kyouka laughed cheerfully. Her positivity was pure and natural.
“Hmph. But like Kyouka-chan said, if it’s 15,000 yen per person for a seat like this, that’s a good deal. Look at how massive the screen is from here.”
“Right? Right?!”
“Well, as long as Ryuuto-san is happy.”
“Everyone has their own values, but this will definitely become a great memory.”
“Mm. Haruka might be right. From now on, we need to make lots of fun memories with Ryuuto-san. When I think about it, we’ve already been together for quite a while. Thanks for everything so far, Kyouka.”
Rion placed a hand on Kyouka’s shoulder.
“Eh? Is this your way of saying I’m getting kicked out…?”
“Well, I didn’t see this coming, but since we’re here, might as well enjoy it.”
“Nn, jeez! Ryuuto-san, I just love you so much. Ahh! I said it! Kyaa!”
“Haruka, mind if I toss this monkey off the balcony?”
Rion pointed toward the balcony.
“No, Rion. You’ll bother the people below.”
Haruka quickly interjected, though she seemed a bit off in her reasoning to prevent Rion from throwing Kyouka off.
“Haha. Anyway, the movie is about to start, so let’s stay quiet during the movie.”
The film The Notebook was a big hit in the U.S. in 2005—a full-on, traditional love story. The plot wasn’t complicated. At the beginning, an old man in a care facility read from a notebook to an elderly woman with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The story took place in the American South in 1940, just before World War II. Noah, a worker at a lumber mill, fell in love at first sight with Allie, a young lady spending the summer with her family. Though their social classes were worlds apart, Noah made a bold move—hanging off a Ferris wheel at a traveling carnival, threatening to let go unless she agreed to go on a date. That audacious move eventually brought them closer.
Incidentally, young Noah was played by Ryan Gosling, and Allie by Rachel McAdams. Both had started as child actors, and their performance skills were top-notch. Ryuuto, who had an appreciation for deeper films, was thrilled by their compelling acting.
However..
“Thump-thump.”
“So tense…”
“W-Whoa…”
“……”
Several minutes later, Ryuuto found himself sandwiched between three beautiful girls, sunk deep into the sofa and barely able to focus. In the dim private room, Kyouka and Haruka pressed their soft, curvy bodies tightly against him from both sides.
Wait, no, hold on, I-I can’t take this!
Kyouka’s and Haruka’s soft, springy curves were smushed tight against his upper arms. On top of that, the sweet scent of feminine pheromones wafted into his nose, pulling Ryuuto’s attention away from the screen and into the real world around him.
For some reason, Rion had settled directly in front of him, curled up like a child in a parent’s lap. When she moved, her long hair brushed against Ryuuto’s nose, tickling him slightly.
And she smells really good too…
He was in near-heaven. Almost cradling her in his arms, Ryuuto gathered all his remaining willpower to gently place his hands around Rion’s waist.
I mean, it’s pitch dark in here. So, like… If my hands accidentally touch Rion-chan’s, uh, boobs, it’d totally be an accident, right? Actually, wouldn’t she not even notice if I gave them a little squeeze? And I mean, the fact that she’s getting this close to me… Doesn’t that mean Rion-chan might actually like me? Whatever I do to her, she probably wouldn’t accuse me of sexual harassment later or anything, right?
This was the classic mindset of a hopeless virgin who’d mistake a girl lending him an eraser for a declaration of love. His delusional power was embarrassingly world-class.
In truth, even if Ryuuto were to grope Rion’s chest, knead it thoroughly, or even slip his hand somewhere far more dangerous and move it inappropriately, she wouldn’t call the cops—she might even consider it a reward instead.
As proof of that, Rion was absolutely trembling with joy in secret because she had snatched the “toddler in daddy’s lap ♡” position thanks to her petite figure. After all, this position was said to be the best position while watching cinema with one’s boyfriend.
