The Villainous Uncle in the Adult Game Gets Unusually High Praise from the Heroines - Chapter 28
Yozuki Kongo’s mornings were late.
I loved sleeping, and honestly, what good did waking up early really bring? Just about three pennies’ worth of benefits. Was there any need to cut into my precious sleep for such a small gain? Absolutely not.
So today, like every other day, I slept soundly, waking up to the annoying alarm on my smartphone. Oh, how wonderful it would be if I could sleep for 24 hours straight. Recently, however, I haven’t thought that as often.
I sat up and sluggishly crawled out of bed. After changing from my pajamas into my school uniform, I left the room. The house was very quiet, probably because no one was home. My parents both worked and left early in the morning, while my sister, as usual, left the house quickly.
My sister disliked crowds and found standing tiring, so she always left early to catch the first train. Well, I also preferred sitting to standing and could understand that, but for me, sleepiness always won out, so I prioritized sleeping longer.
Now then. I took a slice of bread from the plastic bag and poured milk into a cup. Into the microwave it went, 600 watts for one minute and 20 seconds. Lukewarm was the ideal temperature. In the meantime, I transferred yogurt to a dish and brought it to the table.
I always ate yogurt with a lactic acid drink, so I added that too. While doing this, the microwave beeped. I took the cup out and also brought it to the table. Everything was ready. I clasped my hands together and muttered to myself, “Thank you for the meal.”
As for the taste, well, it was ordinary. I didn’t think it was particularly delicious. To be honest—though it might be disrespectful to those who made it—I had never found bread to be tasty.
I consumed it as a means of nutritional intake, and even if I bought it from an upscale bakery, I thought my impression would remain unchanged. So I washed down the bread with milk.
I quickly finished the bread and drank the yogurt like a beverage. Breakfast time probably didn’t even last five minutes. It passed in the blink of an eye. That was my breakfast routine. I imagined a British gentleman who loved breakfast would be astonished at the sight.
After finishing, all I had to do was go to school. Grabbing my bag, I locked the door securely before leaving the house.
“I’m off.”
By then, I was fully awake, with no trace of drowsiness. Even if my body swayed as I held onto a strap in the train, sleepiness didn’t strike me. I figured it was because I got enough sleep.
I continued my journey on the train for a while. After disembarking and walking a fair distance, I finally arrived at school.
As I walked, I glanced around casually, thinking of heading straight to the classroom. I was not particularly focused on my surroundings. That was why noticing her presence was truly by chance.
“Hinomoto-senpai?”
I saw Tomoe Hinomoto-senpai walking by. However, something seemed off. She seemed lifeless, or rather, her steps were unsteady. She looked very unwell; it was clearly not normal.
“…”
Did something happen? However, I didn’t have the courage to run up to Hinomoto-senpai and ask if she was okay. Something about her current vibe was intimidating. Still, ignoring it didn’t feel right either.
“Maybe I should contact Take-san, just in case.”
After all, Hinomoto-senpai would probably head to the Tendo house after school. Take-san could handle it then. Thinking lightly of this, I sent an email from my smartphone.
