The Villainous Noble Tried His Hardest to Break the Original Storyline, and Now the Heroines Are Acting Weird - 36
Chapter 36

My katana was the same. It was the kind of weapon you could buy at a shop in Final Quest. To be honest, it wasn’t worth spending magic stones to craft it, but in this world, it was still a top-tier weapon.
When Sasha saw the completed longsword, her eyes changed color.
“C-Could it be… Is that my sword?”
“Yeah, it is. Want to give it a try?”
Since she used dual swords, I made one more and handed her both blades. That used up all the magic stones I had gathered, so I’d need to start collecting them again.
Since carrying all the swords, including the ones she already had, would just get in the way, I took the sword Sasha had been using and stored it in my item box. Sasha, now with the swords at her waist, held one in each hand and gave them a few practice swings.
I heard the sound of air being sliced. As I listened to the soft, fluid sound that seemed to melt into the air, Sasha’s mouth gradually curved into a smile.
“…This sword is incredible. Are you sure it’s all right for me to receive something this amazing?”
“Yeah. We’ll probably be fighting more demons from here on out, and I want you to be able to help me.”
If Sasha continued to grow stronger, I might even be able to rely on her to take on the vanguard role in battles against the demons. Even if she couldn’t defeat them outright, it was already more than enough if she could gain the power to at least intimidate or stagger them. If she could do that much, there would be more tasks I could entrust to her.
“…Of course. This body already died once. I intend to devote everything I have to you, Rubest-sama.”
She bowed deeply, though that level of formality really wasn’t necessary. To test the new swords, we set off to find a Wind Orc. After a short while, we spotted one. As it moved cautiously through the area, Sasha looked like she was itching to jump in.
…Even so, she waited patiently. Still, if I said even a single word, I had a feeling she’d leap into action.
“All right then, can I leave this fight to you?”
“Yes! Please do!”
Before she even finished speaking, she was already charging forward. Sasha shot out like a loosed arrow, and the Wind Orc turned around with a startled expression.
…That looked like a successful surprise attack. Other monsters began appearing around the Wind Orc, but Sasha’s sword was already swinging down on the first one. A clean cut. One strike.
…As expected, the equipment from Final Quest had ridiculously high performance. The surrounding orcs responded a bit late, but Sasha moved so quickly that none of their attacks could land.
Dancing nimbly through them, Sasha countered with slashes that annihilated the Wind Orcs, then collected their magic stones and returned to me. The way she handed me the stones with a proud, innocent smile on her face was just adorable.
“I did it, Rubest-sama!”
“That was an impressive fight. No problems with the swords?”
“None at all. In fact, they’re so sharp it’s almost a problem.”
…Yeah, I had to agree. I couldn’t be sure just from using my katana, but it seemed that the weapon’s attack power directly translated into cutting ability. There were still other weapons I might be able to craft. For example, both games had monsters called “dragons,” and they used the same material names like “dragon fang” and “dragon claw.”
If those were recognized as the same items here, then I might be able to make weapons using them too. Still, dragons were rare monsters, so it wouldn’t be easy to gather their materials. But if I could get my hands on some of those shared materials somewhere, trying to forge a new weapon could be worth a shot.
After finishing the battle in the labyrinth, I returned to the mansion. There was still some time before dinner, so I asked Sasha to spar with me. We fought in a mock battle using a katana and a longsword.
Even if one of us got seriously injured, I could always heal it with my magic. We hadn’t trained that much, but Sasha’s movements were clearly getting sharper and more refined.
We were doing it under the no-magic rule, and there were a few times where she almost cornered me. I really needed more training in real combat. When we headed to the dining hall for dinner, Aifi greeted us from her wheelchair.
“I was watching your fight, Rubest-sama and Sasha-san. You were both very strong.”
It seemed she had been observing us from somewhere. Since we’d been using the garden of the mansion, it was easy to see us just by walking down the hallway and looking out. We hadn’t been trying to hide it or anything, so I just accepted Aifi’s praise without protest.
“I still have a long way to go. I need to get even stronger.”
“Really? From where I sat, your power already seemed beyond anything I could imagine.”
As Aifi tilted her head and said that, I murmured quietly to her.
“…I want to defeat the Demon Lord of Wrath and bring peace to this country.”
I said it softly, so that only Aifi could hear and she opened her eyes wide in surprise.
