- The Villain Who Got Pinned Down Until He Ran Out Of Stamina ~ This Time I Raised The Protagonist's Affection Too Much And Everyone Fell For Me~
- Chapter 43: Villain, Protagonist, Neighbor Swap
The day of the study session had arrived. While I waited at the entrance of the high-rise apartment building, everyone gradually showed up.
“Hey. Good morning, everyone.”
“Good morning, Yuji-kun! Is this your house? It’s so big~!”
“I heard you were wealthy, but… you live in quite a nice apartment building.”
“W-well, yeah.”
Though I had only gotten used to living here a few months ago myself. Of course they’d be surprised about this high-rise apartment when the study session was at my place.
“Welcome, everyone.”
When we entered the spacious living room, Hibari greeted us in a maid uniform, as if she had been waiting for us. Everyone seemed speechless with surprise at Hibari. I remember being overwhelmed too when I’d first met her… by the beautiful maid… attribute.
“Hey, you guys. Don’t just stand there dazed. Put your stuff down and let’s start studying.”
By the way, I planned to hold the study session in the living room. Though my room was big enough for everyone, I thought the living room would be more convenient for bathroom breaks or if anyone needed to step out.
While chatting lightly, we spread our textbooks and notebooks on the table in the middle of the carpeted area.
“I brought potato chips and cola! You can’t study without these!”
Tajima grinned proudly as he laid them out on the table. Satoshima next to him looked exasperated.
“Don’t spill anything.”
“I won’t make such a blunder!”
“…Are you sure?”
If cola got spilled… that would be terrible. Well, in my previous life, I used to study with friends while snacking too, so I understood having potato chips and cola.
“…Isn’t this bad?”
“Ahaha… Tajima-kun…”
Riina and Yuito were whispering about something. It was as if Tajima had stepped on some kind of landmine…
“Um… you came here to study, right?”
“Of course! Mahiro-sa…n…?”
Tajima had answered with a smile, but upon seeing Mahiro’s face… his smile disappeared. In fact, he seemed scared…?
Since my seat was behind Mahiro, I couldn’t see her face, but she must have had a terrifying smile. I could sense something dark even from behind…
“Do you need snacks and drinks during study time? Do you eat snacks and drink while solving problems during exams?”
“Ah, no…”
“If you understand, then?”
“I’ll put the chips and cola back in my bag, yes…”
Tajima was suddenly trembling like a newborn fawn.
Then, Yuito, sitting next to me, whispered in my ear:
“Mahiro-chan is really strict about eating while studying. We should have told you earlier…”
“No, I think it’s good that Tajima got scolded.”
…That was close. I’d been thinking about bringing additional snacks myself.
“Since Kasajima-kun and you two are joining what was originally our study group of three, you should follow our study group’s style.”
“O-oh. Of course…”
“Understood.”
“Y-yes…”
Tajima was completely intimidated by Mahiro… During study sessions, Mahiro was like the “King of the Court” from that volleyball manga, except she was the “King of Study Sessions”.
I wondered what a study session with the top student in our grade would be like.
—Three hours later.
Surprisingly, everyone was concentrating on studying… Well, it was a study session after all. Basically, we spent 30 minutes solving problems, 10 minutes reviewing, 15 minutes asking questions about things we didn’t understand, and 5 minutes taking breaks—a one-hour set repeated for Japanese, math, and English.
While efficient study methods helped us make progress, the main motivation was probably Mahiro’s original test that she said we would take at the end of the morning study session. She had carefully selected likely test questions from the material we covered.
If we didn’t get a perfect score on this test… apparently we would never get a break. Judging from the snacks and drinks incident, she seemed serious about this.
After finishing grading everyone’s papers, Mahiro put the cap back on her red pen. The rest of us gulped nervously…
“Good work, everyone. You all got perfect scores. Let’s end the morning study session here.”
Upon hearing this, we all let out a collective sigh of relief and exhaustion. The others did too.
“Ah, ah, ahhh… thank goodness…”
Tajima relaxed his expression and slumped onto the desk. He was completely burned out.
“Hey Tajima. Remember we still have the afternoon session.”
Well, at least he wouldn’t have the energy to do anything weird with Hibari now.
“Yuji-kun! You understood everything right after I explained it. That’s amazing!”
“Hehe, of course. Yesterday’s quiz was… well, I was just off that day.”
Once I was taught the formulas and knowledge I had forgotten, I gradually remembered them and was able to solve Mahiro’s original test without much difficulty.
“Kasajima-kun, you might be able to aim for a good ranking.”
“I’d be happy if I could get decent grades on my report card like Riina-san.”
“We’re not the same! I’m aiming for all A’s.”
“The way we think is the same!”
I knew getting all A’s was impossible for me. And Riina still acted differently only toward me. Well, I didn’t mind either way she spoke to me.
Then Hibari, who had been in her room, came to the living room.
“Everyone, what would you like for lunch?”
“Ah, about lunch…”
I looked at Mahiro.
“Thank you for your concern. But we’ve already decided to get takeout sushi together, so we’ll be fine.”
As she said this, Mahiro showed Hibari an envelope containing money. We had each contributed 1,000 yen in advance. We had also decided what to eat. Mahiro was really reliable.
“I understand. Then I’ll prepare the car. I’ll go pick up the takeout, so please make yourselves comfortable.”
Our eyes met. She meant I would be her companion. That was my intention anyway.
“Then I’ll go with Hibari—”
“I’ll go with you!”
“Huh?”
The one who stood up faster than me and said that was—Yuito.
“I can go to the store with Yuji-sama.”
“You’ve already provided us with the study space, Yuji-kun, so I’ll go instead.”
He didn’t need to be so considerate. Yuito was such a nice guy. But the beautiful sisters wouldn’t stay quiet about this, right? I nervously looked their way, but…
“Have a nice trip, Yuito. Be careful.”
“Take care, Yu-kun~♪”
“Eh, you’re letting him go!? Eh, eh!?”
“…I understand. Then I’ll go with Yuito-sama.”
“Eh, you’re going!?”
Leaving my questions and confusion behind, Hibari and Yuito left the living room.
“Now, let’s clean up our study materials while we wait for Yuito and Hibari to return.”
“Sis, can I have some snacks~?”
“Not too much before lunch. And clean up your study materials first.”
“Okay~”
They showed no sign of anger or jealousy… even after Yuito left, they were acting normally.
“Kasajima-kun. Don’t just stand there—clean up too.”
“Ah, yes.”
“Well, if it’s Yuito, he won’t do anything weird to Hibari, so it’s fine.”
If it had been Tajima, I would have stopped him with all my might.
While I was washing my face in the bathroom to refresh myself—
“Hey.”
“Hm?”
As I was drying my face with a towel, someone called out to me. When I looked up, Riina was standing there.
“Riina-san, do you want to freshen up too? Feel free to use it…”
“That’s not it. Kasajima… I need to talk to you.”
“Eh…?”
◆
The conveyor belt sushi restaurant was about a 10-minute drive from the apartment. Being lunchtime on a holiday, the place was crowded.
“It will still take some time until our order is ready.”
“Yes, indeed.”
Having placed their takeout order, Hibari and Yuito sat on one of the sofas at the entrance of the restaurant.
“Yuito-sama. Did you have something you wanted to discuss with me?”
At Hibari’s words, Yuito said, “You probably realized I didn’t just come as an escort… I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”
“No, it’s fine.”
“That’s good. Then, Hibari-san.”
“Yes?”
“I wanted to… talk with you.”
