- The Two Most Beautiful Girls in School Are Obsessed With Me, And All I Wanted Was to Be Forgettable!
- 2 - The Model on the Magazine Cover Is Transferring… to My Class!?
There are certain moments in life when time stops.
When your lungs seize.
When your soul quietly packs its bags.
When you realize the universe hates you specifically.
For me, that moment came during homeroom the next morning, when my teacher announced:
“Class, we have a new transfer student joining us today.”
I didn’t panic right away. Transfer students exist. They’re normal. They don’t always destroy a man’s life.
Then the door slid open.
And the universe whispered:
Surprise, Haruto. This one is for you.
***
Her golden hair cascaded over her shoulders in soft waves.
Her eyes sparkled like camera lights.
Her smile could power a small town.
I knew her face instantly.
Because I had seen it on: convenience store magazine racks, billboards, city buses, the snacks aisle for reasons I still don’t understand
Ayane Hoshizora.
Teen model.
National sweetheart.
The kind of person normal humans do not encounter in real life.
“Hello everyone!” Hoshizora-san said with bright, cheerful energy. “I’m Ayane Hoshizora-san! I’m really excited to study with all of you!”
The class collectively inhaled.
Someone whispered: “Wait, the Hoshizora-san!?”
Another whispered back: “No way…”
Someone fainted quietly in the back.
My teacher gestured to the empty seat behind me.
“You’ll be sitting back there. Next to Kisaragi.”
I froze.
Hoshizora-san froze.
The room froze so hard it could’ve shattered.
She stared at me.
I stared at her.
Wait. No. No no no. There’s no way. She can’t possibly—
Hoshizora-san’s face lit up like the sunrise.
“Haruto!?”
WHY DOES SHE KNOW MY NAME!?
Before I could breathe, she practically teleported across the room and leaned over my desk.
“Haruto! It’s you! It’s really you!”
“H-Hoshizora-san—um—have we met!?”
She blinked, eyes widening in confusion.
“You… don’t remember?”
No.
No, I absolutely did not remember.
I was certain I would remember meeting a professional model.
Hoshizora-san pouted a little. “Ahh, that’s so sad… I guess it was a long time ago…”
She leaned closer.
So close I could count the sparkles in her eyes.
“You’re my savior,” she whispered.
My soul left my body, walked to the door, turned around, realized death was waiting there too, and came back.
“S-Saved you!?” I sputtered. “When!? How!? Why is everyone saying I’m ‘saving’ things lately!?”
Kaito, sitting beside me, muttered, “Uh-oh. Another one has appeared.”
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT!?
Hoshizora-san giggled. “Don’t worry, Haruto. I’ll explain later!”
Then she sat down behind me, humming happily.
The boys around us erupted in jealous groans.
The girls started whispering about how unfair life was.
I sat there in silent panic, staring at my untouched notebook.
Okay. Calm down. Deep breaths. Let’s break this down.
A national model is in my class. Behind me.
She knows my name.
She claims I saved her.
Why is my life spiraling into a romantic soap opera without my permission!?
I exhaled slowly.
No worries. This is alright.
Everything was fine.
Nothing bad would happen-
Slide.
A folded note landed on my desk.
I glanced behind me.
Hoshizora-san was smiling sweetly, pen still in hand.
The note said:
HARUTO-KUN ♡ LET’S TALK AT LUNCH!
I stared at it.
Kaito stared at me.
“…Haruto,” he whispered grimly, “sometimes God gives a man more trouble than he can handle.”
***
I tried to escape.
I really did.
But Hoshizora-san caught me the moment the bell rang.
“Haruto-kun! Let’s eat together!”
Her voice was bright, sunny, and full of unstoppable enthusiasm.
“O-Oh, uhm… I usually eat with my friend Kaito-”
“No problem! You’re okay with it right, Sakamoto-kun” she said immediately.
Kaito, traitor that he was, raised his hands in defeat. “Nope. I’m not dying today. You two have fun.”
“You traitor!”
Kaito dashed away hurriedly.
Hoshizora-san grabbed my sleeve with delicate fingers. “Come on! Let’s sit where we can talk properly!”
I was dragged out of the classroom into the courtyard.
She chose a bench under a sakura tree. Picturesque, sunlit, straight from a drama set.
“Okay!” Hoshizora-san said, opening her bento. “Now we can talk about our past!”
“Our… past?”
She nodded eagerly.
“You really don’t remember me?”
“Um. Sorry?”
Hoshizora-san puffed out her cheeks in the most dangerously adorable way possible.
“You saved me when we were little!”
I blinked. “I… did?”
“Yes! I was lost in the marketplace and crying because I couldn’t find my mom. And you came over, held my hand, and helped me look for her.”
My eyes widened.
Wait.
Wait.
A faint memory flickered. Me as a kid, tugging a girl out of a crowded festival path, telling her not to cry.
“Was… that really you, Hoshizora-san?” I muttered.
Hoshizora-san’s face brightened instantly. “Yes! And ever since then, I’ve been thinking about the boy who helped me! I always wanted to find you again!”
“I didn’t even know you were a model…”
“Oh, I wasn’t at the time!” Hoshizora-san laughed. “I became one later. And once I found where you are. It’s difficult finding you, you know?”
“?”
Her smile turned… slightly too warm.
“I searched local school rosters and then-”
“You WHAT!?”
She leaned forward.
“I told my agency I wanted to transfer schools so I could reunite with you.”
“YOU WHAT!?!?”
Hoshizora-san tilted her head innocently.
“Haruto… did I do something wrong?”
YES BUT I’M TOO SCARED TO SAY IT OUT LOUD.
“N-No, no, not wrong,” I stammered. “It’s just… surprising. Very surprising. Extremely surprising.”
Her expression blossomed into pure joy.
“I knew it,” she whispered. “Our reunion was fate.”
Fate my ass.
Hoshizora-san picked up a piece of tamagoyaki with her chopsticks. “Open wide, Haruto-kun!”
“W-Wha—no no no no no—”
“Say ‘ah’.”
“A-Ah—”
She fed me.
She fed me in broad daylight.
People saw.
People gasped.
Someone dropped a soda can.
I died inside.
Hoshizora-san giggled happily. “There! You’re so cute when you’re flustered.”
“I’m choking on embarrassment more than eggs here.”
“Haruto-kun, you’re truly adorable.”
“Stop it. I’m gonna die.”
Before I could melt into the bench from mortification, a shadow fell over us.
A cold, elegant voice cut the air.
“Kisaragi-kun.”
My blood froze.
Hoshizora-san’s smile sharpened dangerously as she turned around.
Standing with perfect posture, hands folded behind her back, expression calm but eyes sharp-
President Reina Shizuki.
Of course she was here.
As if it’s the most natural thing that the universe does.
“President Shizuki,” Hoshizora-san said sweetly. “Do you need something?”
President Shizuki ignored her.
“Kisaragi-kun, you did not report your lunchtime location as required under your cooperation agreement.”
I tried to shrink behind the bench. “I d-didn’t know that I had to report—”
President Shizuki stepped forward.
“You should have informed me,” she said gently. Terrifyingly. “I was deeply concerned when I couldn’t find you.”
Hoshizora-san stood abruptly, shielding me like a small golden bodyguard.
“Well, it’s because Haruto-kun doesn’t need to report to anyone! He’s a person, not some kind of property!”
President Shizuki smiled gracefully.
“That is correct. He is not a property.”
Hoshizora-san blinked.
Then Shizuki leaned forward, eyes narrowing ever so slightly.
“Haruto-kun is my responsibility.”
“EXCUSE ME!?”
They stared at each other.
The air around them dropped ten degrees.
Oh no. No no no no no.
“We are in the middle of an important conversation. Please find another place for your photoshoot, Hoshizora-san.”
“We’re EATING,” Hoshizora-san snapped. “Not shooting!”
“Your activities are visually similar.”
“Are you calling me a camera!?”
“I am calling you disruptive.”
“Oh, that is IT.”
I jumped between them, arms outstretched.
“P-PLEASE STOP! Let’s not start a war over fried eggs and reporting protocols!”
Both of them paused.
Both looked at me.
Both smiled.
Both smiles were terrifying.
What do I do? What should I do?
Hoshizora-san clung to my sleeve. “Haruto-san, you don’t need to be near someone who treats you like a duty freak!”
Shizuki-san stepped closer. “Kisaragi-kun, you should not be dragged into unnecessary noise and be made a public spectacle.”
Hoshizora-san blushed furiously. “We are not being a public spectacle!”
“But you are a national model.”
“I don’t care!”
Shizuki’s smile didn’t budge. “It is relevant.”
Hoshizora-san stomped her foot. “I came here for Haruto!”
Shizuki blinked. Slowly. Dangerously.
“Oh? Really? How interesting.”
I grabbed my bag.
“Umm. Lunch is over. So I’ll just go now. BYE!”
I tried to sprint.
However, Hoshizora-san grabbed one arm.
Shizuki-san grabbed the other.
“Haruto-san!” Hoshizora-san said sweetly. “Let’s walk back to class, okay?”
“Kisaragi-kun,” Shizuki-san said calmly. “You will walk with me.”
“No, he’ll walk with ME!”
“By school regulation, I must escort—”
“School regulation doesn’t own him!”
“He signed a contract.”
“CONTRACT!? WHAT CONTRACT?”
“A voluntary one.”
“Ugh. That’s even WORSE!”
They glared at each other as if preparing for a duel.
I felt my arms being pulled in opposite directions.
Is this how wishbones feel before they break?
Kaito passed by, eating bread.
He looked at me.
He nodded once.
“Rest in peace, man.”
“Kaito, help me. Don’t you fucking DARE leave me—!”
But it fell on deaf ears. He just ignored me and walked away.
Just like that.
My friend abandoned me.
The sky darkened.
The tension rose.
Hoshizora-san tugged harder.
Shizuki-san tugged even harder.
My arms were going to be two different people soon.
“Please, let go. I need to—AHHHH—”
And then—
RRRRRRRIIIIIIIING!
The bell rang.
Both girls froze.
Shizuki-san cleared her throat. “We must not be late.”
Hoshizora-san let go reluctantly. “Fine… but I’m walking with him after school!”
“No,” Shizuki-san said.
“Yes!”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No.”
“Yes!”
I backed away slowly.
Then bolted.
***
I hid in the library.
Behind the tall bookshelves.
Under a table.
They’ll never find me here, I told myself.
The universe laughed.
Footsteps approached.
Two pairs.
Then a voice in stereo:
“Ha-ru-to.”
Oh shit! They found me.
THEY FOUND ME IN UNDER TWO MINUTES!?
Hoshizora-san knelt next to the table. “Haruto-kun, come out! Let’s walk home together!”
Shizuki-san crouched on the other side. “Kisaragi-kun, I need to review your after-school responsibilities.”
“I don’t HAVE any responsibilities!” I cried.
“You do now,” Shizuki-san said.
“And I’m walking home with you first,” Hoshizora-san insisted.
“No. I am.”
“You ALWAYS do this!”
“You are too impulsive.”
“You’re too controlling!”
“You are too loud.”
“You—”
I crawled out from under the table and held up my hands.
“STOP!!”
They both quieted.
Both looked at me.
Both smiled again.
“Haruto-kun,” Hoshizora-san said, “let’s walk home together, okay?”
“Kisaragi-kun, come with me.”
I died a little.
“…Kaito,” I whispered, “help me…”
There was no Kaito.
Only doom.
***
In the end…
They both walked with me.
One on each side.
Hoshizora-san holding my right arm.
Shizuki-san walked close to my left.
Pedestrians stared.
Car horns honked.
A group of middle schoolers whispered:
“Is this a drama shoot?”
Hoshizora-san tightened her grip. “Haruto-kun and I are childhood friends! We’re meant to be!”
Shizuki-san adjusted her glasses. “Kisaragi-kun has agreed to remain under my supervision for safety.”
“You just forced Haruto-kun and you KNOW it!”
“No, it is voluntary and you can’t do anything about it.”
“I SWEAR I WILL—”
I dragged my hands down my face.
My life is over.
Then Hoshizora-san leaned close and whispered:
“Haruto… I’m really glad I found you.”
Shizuki-san leaned in as well.
“Kisaragi-kun. I will not lose sight of you. Not anymore.”
Not anymore!? Was she losing sight of me BEFORE!?
I walked home between two ticking time bombs, both glowing in the sunset, both smiling at each other with deadly sweetness.
If Chapter 1 was bad…
Chapter 2 was worse.
Much worse.
And Chapter 3?
Would be the end of me.
