- Chapter 62- Confess to him!
Yui was on cloud nine.
Not more than two weeks ago, she couldn’t have imagined that there would come a day when her Senpai would propose to her in such a romantic manner.
The moment she spent on that cafe terrace when her Senpai offered her flowers and extended his heartfelt feelings for her, Yui found herself nearing the epitome of happiness.
Sadly, she didn’t take any pictures of the moment but surely, the images of all that happened between them were engraved in her mind.
And undoubtedly, Yui was going to think about it for a very long time. Maybe forever?
Unfortunately, they needed to part ways since Yui was back in her house, and she needed to return before eight. It was a spoken rule of the house that both Ichinose and Yui had to follow.
Surely, Yui could have gone against the rule…only if her Senpai wouldn’t have been such a worry wart.
‘Seriously…why is he so caring?’ Despite the complaint, the cheerful smile on her face never faded as Yui walked inside her house nearly at seven-thirty.
“I am back.”
The shoes of her Nii-san were stationed beside the shoe rack, which told her that he was inside.
“Yeah…she is back…alright…” It seemed her brother was talking to her Senpai, however, before Yui could have jumped and snatched the phone from him, Ichinose put the phone inside his hoodie pocket.
“Che! Stingy.” Yui stuck her tongue out and began walking down the hallway. She needed to find a vase where she could put the flowers her Senpai gave.
“Do you know someone who can air dry them? I want to preserve these flowers.” Yui knew, how much she took care of these flowers, they would dry up in no time. Thus, she planned to use artificial methods to preserve them.
“So Riku finally confessed to you, huh?” Hearing Ichinose’s words, Yui widened her eyes and twirled on her heel to look at him.
“Did he tell you that?” It was highly unlikely that her Senpai would tell Ichinose something like this, but there were not many sources from which Ichinose could have known.
However, Yui totally missed the greatest source of revelation,
“Look at yourself. That smile and those flowers…anyone would know the reason behind your joy.”
“…” Yui was left speechless.
Was she that obvious?
Although it was true that Yui was beyond elated by what transpired today, she didn’t think her brother would catch on this easily.
“…don’t say anything about it to Senpai.” Yui knew, that Ichinose and Riku’s relationship takes a weird turn when it comes to Yui, so it was better that they didn’t include her in their conversation and Ichinose once again try hurting her Senpai.
In response, Ichinose remained silent and took a seat on the couch across from her.
He watched his sister lovingly arranging the flowers in the vase while humming a tune. Truth be told, he didn’t want to ruin her mood but waiting any longer felt unreasonable.
“Yui…when are you going to tell him about it?”
Yui flinched hearing his voice, but she soon regained her composure, well she pretended to, and asked in her natural tone, “What are you talking about, Nii-san?”
Ichinose knew his sister enough to distinguish how her tone demanded for him to think before speaking. However, Ichinose could no longer keep a lid on this matter,
“When are you going to tell Riku, about that night? That night when you took advantage of his drunken state to corner him and make him date you? The fact that you have liked him for a long time and were looking for this opportunity since Riku only saw you as his sister.”
Yui’s hands have already been frozen and her body, stiff. However, that didn’t stop Ichinose from advancing toward her and continuing,
“We talked about this weeks ago, how you will tell everything to Riku as soon as you can. The guilt Riku still carries up to this date…you promised that you would remove it.”
“But now, I don’t want to!” Suddenly, Yui turned and yelled at her brother with her eyes widened in agitation and a small droplet of tears gathering at the corner of her eye.
Ichinose didn’t back off and with his eyes turning narrow, he asked, “We both know that the truth would come up sooner or later. The reason I suggested clearing off the misunderstanding soon, is that the more you delay, the more it would hurt him. ”
Taking a hold of her shoulders, Ichinose finished, “And trust me Yui, I could not afford to see Riku going through another breakdown. He hasn’t recovered from his previous two incidents…and now, you could be the next reason for his sorrow.”
Riku has been through a lot and the fact that Riku couldn’t talk about that night, makes this matter even more grave. Ichinose could not talk about others, but the three closest people in Riku’s life should be the last of the people who do anything to hurt him.
(A/N: Three people = Yui, Ichinose, and Riku’s mom)
Yui remained silent for a long minute and Ichinose also didn’t rush her to answer him.
In those moments, Yui composed herself by taking several deep breaths and contemplating what her brother suggested.
In the end, she assented, “Alright….I will tell him once the meeting tomorrow ends. Is that acceptable?”
Tomorrow, Riku would be meeting their parents and would announce his relationship with Yui, officially. Ichinose could understand why Yui chose to speak truth after the meeting, since any hesitancy from Riku would not miss the eyes of Lady Tsukasa tomorrow.
He didn’t say anything but just nodded in understanding and patted the girl with a soft smile on his face.
Hopefully, after tomorrow everything will be sorted…

“Haaa…” At the same time, far away from Tsukasa’s residence, a certain young man slid down the wall with the phone in his hand, now fallen to the ground.
The boy remained silent for a long time, his body entirely motionless as he stared at nothing in particular.
What seemed like half an hour from a general perspective, but a minute in the boy’s eyes, some words finally escaped his lips,
“Why…just why….”
