The time when I forcibly slept with my friend's sister! - Chapter 53- Homeless?
“Hey, Mom. How are you?” Although he asked that, from her weary eyes and hung shoulders, Riku could tell that she was extremely exhausted.
“Oh, Riku. How is your arm?” While changing her sandals, she asked.
Riku stepped forward before taking her bag from her and replying in a concerned tone, “I am fine…but you clearly aren’t. Do you want to eat something before you sleep?”
Even though currently there was nothing prepared, there were readymade and frozen things in stock which would be enough to prepare something immediately.
However, “No, I am good. Rather…have you three breakfast?”
Hearing her words, made Riku realize that she thought that Ichinose was here last night…now that it was a dilemma about whether he should tell her or not.
“A-haha…yeah.” In the end, he didn’t say anything in that regard.
The older one didn’t remain with her son for long since she was almost dozing off while standing so soon she bid her farewell, leaving Riku in the hallway.
“Haah….I hope this topic just doesn’t get picked up again…” If Riku was guessing it right, then Ichinose also didn’t know that Yui was staying alone with Riku in the house last night.
…just the thought of the truth getting revealed makes him rub his jaw.
After placing her bag in the living room, Riku approached the girl who was diligently occupied with her work, working around the kitchen with a determined look never leaving her face.
It was amusing to see how seriously she was taking this task. Even though he offered help, she declined since she wanted to impress him with her efforts.
“Mom said she would sleep first so don’t rush.” Yui was getting a little hyped up since she thought, the lady of the house would be having her handmade meal as well.
…Yui needed to earn some cookie points from her as well.
“Is that so…well, she must be tired.” While Yui felt a little sad, she didn’t let it bother her for long as she returned to her usual self while using the chopsticks to move something in the pan.
Riku took a chair to sit while facing the girl, before asking, “You want some help in finishing your pending work? I mean, I had sick leave but you don’t have any valid reason to be absent for so long. The teachers would be furious, you know.”
There was no reason for Yui, who was also just a student, to skip school to take care of her senior. If Riku would have been living alone, then it might have been understandable.
Due to that fact, all the assignments that were piling under the list of pending work would have to be submitted just on the day Yui continued school.
“Don’t worry about it. I have everything under control.” Yui spoke truthfully.
After she retires to bed in the night after ensuring that her Senpai is asleep, she remains awake late in the night to finish her schoolwork.
It was not like Yui cared about her reputation or had any fondness for being the first-ranked in the class. Rather she didn’t want to provide any chance to her mother, and allow her to belittle Yui.
And the young girl knew…if her mother gets pissed even once now, she would drag Riku’s topic into her scolding as well.
‘I just hope that day never arrives or…’ I won’t be able to hold myself back.
Yui’s thoughts were clear about who holds the most importance in her life. And if someone tried to badmouth the person she held dearest to her heart, Yui was not going to take it lightly. Even if the person in question was her own mother.
‘Hmm?’ Somehow, Riku could see that something was troubling Yui, however before he could have asked her, a familiar person walked in.
“Hey, how is your arm?” Ichinose asked as he walked in while carrying a bag over his shoulder.
Riku replied casually with his eyes tracing the bag, “It’s fine now….are there your clothes in them?”
As Riku remembered, both Yui and Ichinose had brought enough clothes to last a month without washing or wearing the same clothes twice.
Yes, that much.
“Oh, this….” As he brought the back to the front and plopped down on the chair just beside Riku, Ichinose continued,
“Ah, yeah. These are our clothes… the remaining ones.”
“…”
“…why?” It was Yui who asked in a perplexed tone with a frown marring her face. For some reason, she already knew something had happened last night.
And true to her assumption, “I had an argument with Mom, last night and now we both are homeless.”
“…”
“…Is it because of you two living here?” This time Yui was left speechless and Riku asked.
The reason why she wasn’t able to respond, stems from the very fact that her brother actually for the first time dared raise his voice against their mother.
Hearing Riku’s query, Ichinose sighed before leaning backward, as he replied, “Yes and no. Yes, it’s because of staying over but she was mad that Yui was living here as well.”
The living room turned silent upon hearing that.
Riku had no idea that Yui was living here without the permission of her parents. It was perplexing for him initially, how easily the strict lady of the Tsukasa family allowed her daughter to stay at a boy’s place.
However, now he knew that she never allowed Yui…
“…and you fought her for that?” Riku couldn’t help asking in a quieter tone, still not sure whether he heard him right the first time or not.
Someone as well-behaved as Ichinose quarreled with his parents…indeed, the matter must have escalated beyond tolerance.
Riku was surprised to see that Yui was yet again, busying herself with cooking, like a moment ago, it wasn’t her making such a cold expression.
Even Ichinose didn’t seem troubled much as he nonchalantly sat on the seat with her fingers interlocked behind his head.
“Hey, Ichi…if I say sorry to them-“(Riku)
“You don’t have to, Senpai. There is nothing wrong with what Nii-san did and it’s none of our fault. It’s just Mom, who cannot understand some simple things, like caring about the people whom we love. She herself has raised us in that manner after all.”
Both Riku and Ichinose shuddered hearing her harsh tone, as the latter immediately straightened his back with his hands most resting over his thighs.
There was no doubt about it. Yui was furious.
Looking at her unusual self, Riku decided that he needed to take this situation very carefully.
