Akechi Miu was in a predicament. Her mother was a businesswoman and a lady who had lived her life in her own way without minding what the world would see her as.

Naturally, she was also a strict mother who wanted to do everything in her power to give Miu a good life and ensure her bright future.

And now that the elder Akechi was shifting to England for her work, she undoubtedly would take her teenage daughter with her…unless Miu didn’t have any concrete reason to present in the advocacy of her staying in Japan until graduation.

Like getting into a relationship with someone…

“A-Are you sure about this, Ichinose-kun?” Akechi couldn’t help asking with a flabbergasted expression currently adorning her face as she sat with her back stiffly straightened.

She arrived at Riku’s place to check up on him and as the conversation continued, Miu told them the reason why she would be transferring soon. And upon hearing her out, Ichinose, out of nowhere, presented a suggestion.

“I mean, there is no harm in pretending to be your lover, right? And once your mom shifts to foreign, we would return to our usual selves?”

Some days ago, Miu had confessed her feelings for Ichinose since she knew she might never get another chance to do so. However, Ichinose wasn’t sure whether he wanted to commit as of now or not. Not to talk about his feelings for Miu was only limited to a general attraction, nothing more.

However, seeing how sad she seemed at the prospect of leaving everything behind, Ichinose came up with the perfect plan.

“…think carefully about it, Ichi. Akechi-san’s mother is scary and you surely have to meet her to convince that lady to allow her daughter to stay back.”

Miu didn’t refute what Riku just said. Apart from her mother’s personality, Ichinose surely had to go through a long interrogation session where he would need to convince her mother about Miu’s stay in Japan until her high school graduation.

A heavy silence descended in the living room where they sat, as Ichinose seemed to be contemplating deeply about something.

The silence was soon broken by the person acquiring the seat beside Riku, “Nii-san can handle that…if he just remains himself.”

Everyone directed their confused gaze at the younger girl when suddenly realization dawned upon Riku as to what she was saying.

“Ah, yes. If Ichi does the Ichi things I doubt any woman would be able to dodge his charms.”

“What are you guys talking about?” Hearing the ridiculous comments about himself, Ichinose asked in a baffled tone, prompting Riku to turn his attention to his friend.

“See, Ichi, If you can be yourself in front of Akechi-san’s mother then I think she would accept you as her daughter’s partner. Ain’t I right, Akechi-san?”

Ichinose remained confounded hearing Riku blabber before he turned to look at Miu…only to get surprised upon witnessing her crimson face. She was blushing about something furiously.

Nevertheless, Miu responded to Riku’s query in a weaker tone, “Y-Yes….that may work…”

“See~” Ichinose felt slightly annoyed seeing his best friend and sister grinning at him like Ichinose was some kind of novel protagonist who could handle any situation with just his words.

In the end, it was decided that Ichinose would meet Miu’s mother on the upcoming Saturday.

Around six in the evening, when the sun has disappeared below the horizon and the sky has begun to turn dark, a couple could be seen walking down the street with their hand clasped and the atmosphere around them, could be simply regarded as sugary.

Those who passed by them either gave them a nod of approval or just clicked their tongue while muttering things like ‘Get a room’ or ‘Die normies!’.

Regardless, neither of them seemed troubled about their surroundings whatsoever, as they made their way toward the nearest convenience store.

“It feels like I am on a date with Senpai. Nee~can I consider this as one?” Seeing Yui happily chiming by his side, Riku couldn’t help letting his smile elevate as he nodded in assent.

“Well, if you consider strolling around as a date, then sure.”

Both Riku and Yui are inexperienced in dating and stuff. While Riku had been in a relationship before, it ended right away to give him much of an idea of how it feels to go on a date with your partner and hold their hand

And Riku surely liked how they were advancing at their pace.

“While we are at it, how about we get Ichi’s novel from the shop near the station?” The volume of the novel that Ichinose wanted to read, would be only available near the station so Riku casually suggested. But…

“No can do, Senpai. We cannot let you strain your arm more than necessary and doctors said some physical activities are alright. Not too much.”

…well, there was nothing bad in trying his luck.

Riku had a hard time convincing her to let him go on a small trip to the store so this much was fine as well.

Reaching the store, Yui picked up the shopping basket before turning toward Riku.

“What do you want for dinner?”

“You…”Since Riku’s focus was completely converged on his phone, he took a small halt before finishing his sentence, “….are preparing dinner tonight…”

Nearing the end of his words, his voice died out in his throat as he saw Yui’s flushed face. She was looking at him with wide eyes with her fingers clutching the basket handle rigidly.

Understanding the severity of this situation he has aroused, Riku hurriedly pulled the basket from her and walked forward, “I didn’t know Yui-chan could cook dinner as well.”

Yui was plucked out of her daze, thanks to that pull before she calmed herself down…well she tried to.

“Y-Yeah, somehow…” Picking meat and vegetables around the store, both of them found themselves stuck in an uncomfortable silence after that previous misunderstanding.

‘Why do I react so easily…’ Yui was cursing herself inwardly upon making the atmosphere so awkward as she mindlessly dropped unnecessary items in the basket.

‘…is Yui expecting me to…no, no, no! What am I even thinking.’ On the other hand, Riku was debating about what he should conclude with her reaction.

Amidst their inner banter, someone called out from behind…a strangely familiar voice.

“Tsukasa-san?”
