Riku was speechless. Ichinose was speechless. The whole classroom was speechless.

After all, hearing a beautiful girl suddenly confessing her love for not Ichinose who mostly gets targeted with such bold proposals, but the person whom many don’t even know…indeed a reason worth being speechless.

Ichinose looked at the girl with a frown marring his face, however, the person who was liable to answer the sudden confession of the blue-haired girl was not him but Riku.

“….eh? Love? Me? Are you sure you are not mixing up names here?”

Riku still held on to the hope that the girl whom he identified as Hitomi of 3-F was being confused here.

But when the girl lifted her eyes and looked at Riku with that innocent gaze, he knew he was in big trouble.

“No, I am not. I love you and only you, Hikari Riku. Please don’t make fun of my feelings by saying that I am delusional. ”

Riku was suddenly surrounded by the heavy gazes of his classmates who were blaming him wordlessly for making the innocent girl cry just now.

Riku panicked slightly before he called out for her, “Okay….okay, I understand that you are confessing to me but I have to reject your proposal since I am already going out with someone. ”

“Eh?”

“When did he…. ”

“I bet after he showed those shredded muscles that day…..”

“Am I the only single soul in the class..? ”

The chattering and gasping of his classmates didn’t help Riku as he somehow remained still at his spot.

He didn’t want to give any false hope to the girl who had such a boring choice in man that’s why Riku outwardly rejected her by telling her the truth.

Hitomi remained silent for a moment with her head hung low and small fist balled up tightly before her slow voice reached up to him, instantly silencing the class in the process.

“….then tell me…her name…”

“Huh? ” Riku wasn’t able to hear her clearly so he asked once again.

Hitomi repeated her question, albeit louder this time, “Tell me who your lover is and I won’t bother Riku-kun ever again! ”

Her voice held a sense of fright and frustration, probably because of being rejected but Riku was unfazed by her tone rather he felt bad to make her cry like this.

But more than anything he was at the moment, stuck in a dilemma.

‘How can I say it’s Yui… ‘ Riku side glanced at his friend who was scrutinizing Riku with his narrowed eyes, watching him with an observant gaze.

Riku gulped at the thought of experiencing a loaded punch from Ichinose…more so in front of everyone. It wasn’t that he was worried about his reputation or anything, but concerned about how Ichinose would feel hearing that his best friend was dating his little sister.

In the end, he could only conceal the fact, “I can’t tell you her name. ”

Hearing his response, Hitmo shot her reddened eyes at him, startling Riku and Ichinose in the process before she spoke in a sobbing tone, “I knew it….you are just lying to get rid of me…I knew it… I KNEW IT!!”

Yelling so, the girl ran away from the classroom, leaving a baffled Riku behind who could only watch her departing back wordlessly.

“Tch…making such a lovely girl cry… ”

“Who does he think, he is?”

“I bet he’s lying about the girlfriend thingy… ”

“Or maybe he’s working as male prost-“The girl immediately shut her mouth upon finding Ichibose death glare being targeted at her.

The class fortunately soon calmed down after the arrival of homeroom sensei.

Riku sat in his seat, still quite shocked by the event that transpired out of nowhere.

“You okay, bud? ” Ichinose’s voice pulled Riku out of his daze before he looked at his best friend and nodded in assent.

Regardless of what happened, Riku didn’t regret rejecting the girl…but there was something bothering him too much.

‘Why did she seem familiar… ‘

While Riku was contemplating the incident and such, Yui, who was a floor below him, received three simultaneous messages over her phone.

Fortunately, she was sitting on the backmost seat so she had no issue fishing out her phone and checking the content.

The three message senders were the spies planted in her senpai’s classroom, in which her brother was also included.

For all the three of them to send messages one after another…Yui didn’t have a good feeling about this.

And indeed, when she checked the content of the messages…

[Riku’s POV: ]

It was lunch break when I separated my ways with Ichinose.

Fortunately, he didn’t insist on having lunch together and left with his other friends. I was thankful for it since I needed to see Yui right at this instance.

I didn’t know why but looking at Hitomi-san from this close for the first time made my heart clench and my mind throb in pain…like I knew her…

I needed to see Yui and rely on her for some time or I would remain frenzy for the whole day. I couldn’t ask anyone else for this favor but my junior. And knowing her, she wouldn’t mind tolerating this silly side of mine.

“Senpai~” I spun on my feet just outside my class only to be greeted by the person I was yearning to meet.

Yui had her natural smile while she held two pieces of meat buns in her small fists.

However, my focus wasn’t on that as I took hold of Yui’s wrist and began pulling her toward the staircase.

“Senpai….? ” Despite being confused by my sudden action she didn’t protest and allowed herself to get dragged.

I didn’t care if someone saw me at the moment, not even Ichinose since all I wanted was to be with Yui at an isolated place.

“Bear with me a little… ” After walking for a bit I and Yui climbed the stairs which led to the rooftop.

Fortunately, as always, it was dusty and empty today as well.

Making Yui halt right in front of me, I snatched the buns away and placed them in my pockets before I asked her in a slightly hurried tone,

“I am kind of feeling…c-can I hold you for a moment…just for s-some time…?”

I didn’t know why I was stuttering but my heart was feeling heavy and more than anything, I just wanted this feeling to vanish.

Luckily I have got this girl in my life who understands my emotions perfectly and responds to them in the best way possible.

“Hold me as much as you want, Senpai…I am always here for you. ”
