“W-What do you mean, Mom? Are you talking about my friend who visited today?” I tried not to stammer but the thought of Mom finding out about the relationship I had started with Yui, made me nervous.

Mom initially teased me about Yui, saying that we could become a great couple but after I explicitly told her that I see Yui just as a sister, she stopped making fun of us.

I thought it would be rude to be regarded as a pair-up with someone like me so I explained everything to Mom properly.

But now if she suddenly finds that I am dating the same girl I regarded as my sister…I don’t have a single idea how she would react. And when she mentioned the footage, I got a little pushed toward my edge.

“Not just friends but about someone special as well. Someone who has been under my nose all this time yet I never was able to recognize her.”

My heart stopped for a moment before I somehow asked, “C-can you be a little more clear about it, Mom?”

Mom didn’t answer immediately after hearing my question, intentionally teasing me with that meaningful smirk as she did so.

I patiently waited, well barely held myself from asking her again when suddenly Mom voiced out the name I wasn’t even thinking of, “Of course, it’s your childhood friend Miho-chan. Should I take your word on the matter and start preparing for the wedding?”

“…” I dumbly looked at her for a good minute, waiting for her to say that it was a joke but she didn’t.

“Mom, I am going to tell you something which you are not allowed to tell anyone. Not even Miho’s mother.” Mom’s ears perked, probably enthusiastic about gaining some spicy news about me and Miho.

But I thoroughly crushed her hopes by telling her the truth, “Miho likes Ichinose, and she sees me only as a friend. It’s the same for me as well, so please don’t raise your hopes.”

“Is that so….” Mom pouted slightly without allowing me to see her rare complaining expression.

It was amusing to see my thirty-seven-year-old mother being so childish at times.

However, soon my mind went to a specific direction related to my behaviour which I showcased just now.

‘Why am I so worked up… ‘ I get so flustered and anxious whenever Yui’s topic emerges since morning that I have begun to doubt myself.

Despite promising her that I wouldn’t regret this thing that occurred between us and be supportive of our relationship, I was trying to hide it like I had done some crime.

Well, it was indeed a crime, what I partook in last night but hiding my new connection to Yui would hurt her feelings.

And after what Miho told me over the phone regarding Yui’s behavior around me, I need to be a little more cautious around her so Yui doesn’t get heartbroken.

Today was Sunday. After a long while, I was able to sleep comfortably for seven hours. The time when I woke up was already over nine on the clock.

Mom has already left for work and made some breakfast for me. We didn’t talk about the camera footage again and I was thankful for that.

Hopefully, Mom wouldn’t tell about Miho’s liking toward Ichinose to her best friend. If it had been anyone else then I might not have minded but Mom’s best friend was Miho’s mother…

After eating breakfast I went to my study and wrote a few pages on a novel I was working on. I was thinking of publishing my novel through a publishing house that has seen my first draft and approved my entry.

If things go well then I will be publishing my light novel before December.

After two hours surrounded by books I went to take a shower and while changing clothes, I called Yui on speaker.

She picked up on the second ring, [Afternoon, Senpai~ Did you have a good night’s sleep yesterday?]

It seemed her mood was as cheerful as usual which was a good thing.

“Yeah and what about you?”

I was just about to comb my hair when Yui’s following words made me drop the comb.

[Well, it was a little lonely yesterday…Maybe I was missing the warmth of my senpai?]

I blinked. And blinked again before turning my gaze toward the phone which rested over the table.

For a moment I wasn’t able to believe what she said but when I heard a chuckling voice from the other side, my eyes narrowed.

‘She’s teasing her senior now, huh… ‘

I took the phone and spoke in a whispering tone, making my voice deliberately deep, “Well, it was hard for me as well….to sleep alone when I had such a comfortable sleep last night while holding my kouhai in my arms…we might have an affinity to provide each other a comfortable sleep…”

….I agree that I might have gone slightly overboard and upon realizing what I just said, my face was indeed heated up slightly but I had to say something, alright!

I couldn’t let my junior tease me like this.

‘Serves you right… ‘ I thought the last blow was hefty enough to calm the girl down but….

[Then…how about we test it tonight…? Our affinity that is….]

I didn’t say anything since my mind wasn’t working anymore. Rather I just put the phone back on the table, went to the washroom, and splashed my face with some cold water repeatedly.

‘Stop getting flustered you retard…!!!’

At that time I didn’t know that Yui was having a harder time than me controlling her boiling blush.

Whether we were teasing each other or casually flirting was a matter to settle on a later date since today, I had a mission to accomplish.
