- Chapter 22- Caught in the act?
[Who the hell are you? ]
“I should be asking this and please tone down your voice a little, alright? “Miho was already annoyed by the caller since her voice was excessively loud for someone who was talking over the phone and had just shared a mere ‘Hello’ until now.
[Where is my Senpai? What are you doing with him? ]
‘Senpai…? ‘ Then it struck her. There weren’t many people who have Riku’s number, especially not from junior years other than a single girl who could call Riku in such a familiar fashion.
For assurance, Miho checked the caller’s name before her face went slightly pale.
“Are you Ichinose-kun’s Imouto-san?”
[Yes, I am but that doesn’t answer my question-]
Before Yui could continue, suddenly Miho felt something hitting her feet hard only to realize that it was the handle of the mop.
“Ahn~” Involuntarily she let out a low groan in pain.
The line went blank like the caller was no longer connected. But before Miho could check whether the call had gotten disconnected, a chilling voice arrived from the other side.
[I am coming over there. ]
*Tu* *Tu* *Tu*
This time, the call really got cut as Miho tilted her head after separating the phone from her ear.
Perplexed by what the junior said, Miho kept the phone back in its place before she finished cleaning up and placed the mop back in the storage when she saw Riku returning to the living room wearing a different shirt.
“What happened?”Riku asked as he saw the complicated expression his childhood friend had.
“Ichinose-kun’s little sister, Yui-san called. “Riku raised his brows before asking, “What did she say?”
“That she is coming over… ” Miho sounded uncertain since the voice of the caller seemed so bleak and cold that she barely heard her.
Riku frowned at that before he took his phone and dialed Yui’s number.
“Strange…she isn’t picking up. ” After trying two more times Riku called the other resident of that house who picked up his call on the first ring.
[Hey, man. Is your hangover sorted?]
Ichinose’s casual voice traveled from the other side which made Riku think that Yui was just joking about coming over in this state. Apart from her sickness which she recovered from recently, there was the pain of last night as well.
Riku assumed she would be resting for the whole day which was why he seemed hurried to call her. But his concerns were all for naught…
[Ah, and Yui is coming over to your place. She just has taken a taxi a minute ago. ]
…or so he thought
“Tell that first!” Cursing the nut-brained inwardly, Riku disconnected the call and tried Yui again only to get no response.
Thankfully she texted him to not worry and that she would be there in no time. There was a smiley attached to her message. A simple smiling face yet it sent a shiver down Riku’s spine for some reason.
He kept the phone back on the table before he heard Miho’s slightly apprehensive voice, “What’s going on, Riku? Why does Ichinose-kun’s Imouto-san seem angry at me? Did I do something wrong? She won’t complain about me to her brother right? ”
Riku didn’t have any idea about the conversation between Yui and Miho but for some reason, Miho looked anxious. Without prying in the core of matter he tried soothing her unease.
“It’s nothing like that. Yui-chan is a great girl so you don’t need to worry. And about the reason why she is coming over… ”
For the next ten or so minutes Riku blabbered everything that happened last night and how things changed between Yui and him. He also told her about the beer and the *e* part since he trusted Miho enough to believe she wouldn’t spread the news.
If anyone could help him in the situation then it was her.
Hearing the story, Miho’s eyes were stretched and mouth slightly parted. She could have never guessed this much has happened in so little time and someone like Riku who generally remains cautious of how he treats a lady, actually did something so unthinkable.
The living room went silent for a bit before Miho finally spoke up, “You have done an unforgettable deed… ” Riku’s heart sank but not because he heard Miho voicing it out since the already was aware of his sin.
But soon a little ray of light ignited as Miho continued, “…but on the bright side, since Yui-san wasn’t angry with you nor does it seem she actually blames you for your action then I think…she maybe actually likes you? Not as a brotherly figure but as a man? ”
It was Riku’s turn to get surprised since he never thought about that possibility as it was too absurd to even think about. Someone so bright and attractive like Yui who could date any male from school if she wants, was actually interested in him romantically?
“W-What… ” Miho could already guess why Riku made such an expression and what he was going to ask so she followed with her explanation soon after.
“I mean…I could only say ‘to not regret it’ while being forced upon, to someone I like. If someone I don’t like tries to force themself on me then I would surely protest and hurt them badly. Mostly every girl knows self-defense and someone from the Tsukasa family…not to talk about that she even said that if it’s you, then it was fine. You know what it means right? Yui-san has explicitly told you how she doesn’t mind if it’s Riku who’s taking her first time and also she seemed happy at your proposal…I think it makes it obvious, no?”
Miho just stated what she strongly believed since no girl in a sane mind would readily agree to date a person who has forced himself on her. There were many indications and Miho herself has seen how the girl always remains attentive toward Riku in school.
Hearing her words, Riku plopped down on the couch with his mind now even more overloaded than it was before Miho arrived.
Her words sounded right and the things she used as a basis to conclude that Yui likes him, were something Riku himself told so there was no chance Miho was making up anything here. And in the first place, why would she need to fabricate anything anyways?
“You wait here. I will bring something to drink.” Understanding well, how Riku must be feeling Miho got up to bring something to cool off his mind when suddenly her feet stumbled at the base of the same flower vase stand which caused the previous accident.
“Miho!” Riku immediately sprang to his feet since Miho was about to fall on her face.
“Ah! “Miho exclaimed as her falling body suddenly halted and she felt a warm hand encircled her stomach and left arm being held in a tight grip.
“And you call, me, clumsy.”
Riku carefully pulled the girl back on her feet but as she stood, her back was touching Riku’s chest. It seemed from afar that Riku was hugging Miho from behind.
It was the worst time for someone to walk in and coincidentally…
“Sen….pai?”
