[Ichinose’s POV: ]

“Yeah…he has always been like that.”

Since Riku went on to deal with his confession drama, I invited Miho-san to walk home just like yesterday. She generally leaves with Riku so I thought, in his absence, I would occupy her company.

I thought that how conservative and shy Miho-san is, she might reject my offer but she didn’t.

Our conversation was flowing smoothly as well unexpectedly, since we had a mutual topic to converse about. Of course, it was Riku.

“I was wondering Miho-san…do you perhaps like Riku…as in like a potential romantic partner?”

It was not something I would have generally asked from a girl since I knew how awkward it could make someone, more so, when I was just an acquaintance.

But I need to be sure of her reaction to this since sometimes I feel that Riku and Miho-san are extremely close to each other. They could even communicate with their eyes.

If Miho-san does have feelings for him then Yui might have to face serious competition. After all, a childhood friend always reigns supreme in the race.

But fortunately, “Umm…no. Not really. But why do Ichinose-kun think something like that?”

My shoulder loosened up at her response but now that her interest was piqued in the topic, I needed to give her some concrete answer or she might report it to Riku.

And that wouldn’t be good.

Going through my mind, the first thing that popped up, I blurted it out.

“…I am just assuring things so it doesn’t become a hindrance afterward… ”

For some reason, hearing my words, Miho-san turned red and her eyes slightly widened.

“I-Ichinose-kun?”

I tilted my head and concluded that I got misunderstood just now. Well, whatever.

[Riku’s POV: ]

I carried the burning Yui to the infirmary where the nurse wasn’t present.

Generally, someone from the medical department surely remains in the infirmary but today when I seriously needed some help…

‘Damn it!’

Cursing inwardly, I gently laid Yui on the bed before I went to search for the thermometer.

It didn’t take long before I returned and checked her temperature with the equipment.

102°F.

“As I thought…what should I do now?”

The first thing that came to my mind was to call Mom and so I did. Meanwhile, I unhooked the upper two buttons of the girl so she could breathe properly.

‘Probably in OT… ‘ I sighed.

Despite being the son of such a great doctor, I did not have much idea of how to treat a sick person.

The only thing I had in mind was wet wipes and I went toward the small refrigerator infirmary had and took out two trays of ice cubes. Filling the bowl resting on the side table with tap water, I dropped all the ice in it.

‘Clothe…well, screw it… ‘ I wasn’t able to find clean clothes so I just went with my handkerchief. I haven’t used this one since I thought I would give it to Yui after seeing her cold in the morning.

The girl was careless enough to always rely on things like these on others. However, I didn’t know I would be using the handkerchief here.

Without any useless, thoughts, I brought the bowl beside Yui’s bed and dipped my handkerchief in the cool water. Rinsing it lightly, I draped the wet fabric over her heated forehead.

“Haah…. ”

A sigh of relief escaped Yui’s lips which made me slightly relaxed too. If things would have gone a little downhill, I would have called the hospital the very next moment.

But fortunately, it seemed the trick was working.

I periodically squeezed the fabric and continued using it to bring her temperature down as much as I could. I did look for medicine over the internet but wasn’t able to locate them in the infirmary.

‘What the heck is wrong with this place…a normal household has a better medicine supply than this place named infirmary…’

I shook my head with a frown and was about to text Ichinose when suddenly I felt a warm hand holding me by my forearm.

“S-Senpai…”

“Yui! A…are you alright? Don’t force yourself to speak.”

Her eyes were barely parted but her face seemed a little less flushed compared to before, which was a plus point.

I was about to offer her water when suddenly in a stuttering voice, she demanded something completely out of the blue.

“M-My back…it’s drenched…..s-sweat irritates me…senpai…please wipe i-it up f-for me… ‘

“What an absurd girl she is…to pay this much for an hour of vacancy… ”

Counting the bundle of notes, the school nurse sighed with a gleeful smile never leaving her face.

If someone comes to know how she got bribed to leave the infirmary and misplace some certain medicines, then her job might come at risk.
