“Nanase-san? What exactly is this…”
“Moving eggs into Sensei’s basket?”
“Yeah.”
It was right after their reunion. Nanase had casually transferred eggs from her own basket into the one Sora was carrying. She then emptied her own basket and returned it to its place nearby.
“Well, even if you have two packs of eggs, you can’t eat them all by yourself, right?”
“Hey, don’t jump to conclusions! I’m not being mean or anything! Since we happened to meet like this, I just thought it’d be nice to buy enough for both of us, including Sensei’s share. That’s why I combined them.”
“Haha, I see.”
Given her mischievous past, it wouldn’t be surprising for Nanase to act like this, but the situation was rather unusual.
The unexpected reunion with his former student had put Sora in a cheerful mood.
“But, Nanase-san, I can’t let you pay. I’ll treat you. Feel free to pick whatever you like.”
“Fine, Sensei always treats me like a child anyway, even though I’m an adult now. I have a job and everything.”
“It’s a matter of pride.”
“Hmm, well, okay then.”
Nanase replied with a slightly dissatisfied tone, but Sora just smiled, appreciating how much she had grown. Her beautiful black hair with pink streaks, her mature face that was almost doll-like in its perfection, her clear purple eyes, and her well-proportioned figure all radiated an air of composure. She had indeed come a long way since their teacher-student days.
“Oh, by the way, since we’re here, you can buy lots of snacks if you want. You still like sweets, right?”
“I do! But seriously, you’re treating me like a kid again. It makes me want to tease you.”
“You do have a bit of a foul mouth, you know.”
“And who do you think made it that way, Sensei?”
“…”
“…”
After exchanging their thoughts, they fell into silence. They both looked at each other as if to say, “What’s wrong?”
Their banter and reminiscing about the past had brightened the atmosphere of their unexpected reunion.
“Haha, it really brings back memories, this banter.”
“Yeah, it does.”
Meeting after several years apart, they both wore smiles as they shared their thoughts.
“Also, thank you for those times when you gave me those annoying lectures.”
“You’re welcome. Although there might have been some unnecessary words in there.”
Their exchange may seem like they have a tense relationship due to their teasing, but that’s just how these two interact with each other.
“Now then, Sensei.”
“Yes?”
“As for the meat you put in that basket, we can decide who gets it later with a game of rock-paper-scissors. But for now, shall we move on?”
“Huh!?”
Prompted like this, Sora, who had the scent of citrusy perfume, jolted slightly, both his upper and lower body reacting.
For some reason, Nanase had tightly grasped onto Sora’s left arm, the one not carrying the shopping basket.
“Before we check out the snacks, can we stop by the vegetable section for a moment? My mom asked me to pick up a few things.”
“That’s fine, but… What’s the reason for holding onto my arm like this?”
“Aaa?”
“Don’t make a scary sound. Old me will come out.”
“It’s because Sensei asked such a dull question. Well, it’s not like you can’t let me do this much. After all, we haven’t seen each other in a while.”
Whether it was due to his warning or not, Nanase’s intimidating tone subsided. Instead, she spoke in a slightly more gentle tone, looking up at him with puppy eyes.
“Don’t young people these days feel embarrassed doing things like this?”
“It’s common.”
“When you lie, Nanase-san, your gaze always shifts away, doesn’t it?”
“Hey, you’re noisy. Come on, let’s just go without any fuss.”
“Waah!?”
Guided by her, Sora held onto his arm, doing his best not to trip over himself. Meanwhile, Nanase, her face reddened, did her best to avoid being seen.
Despite her strong-willed demeanor, the fact remained that she had reunited with someone who had managed to convince her to buy that bracelet.

“Sensei, I’m having so much fun right now.”
“I feel the same way.”
Having completed their shopping, the two of them were now in the dessert section, sitting down just like old times, with Nanase hugging her knees and browsing the snacks. She suddenly turned to him with a smile.
“What should I pick~…”
“If there are items you’re not sure about, feel free to buy them all. After all, it’s a special occasion.”
Sora, not being particularly wealthy, could say this because he knew she understood the concept of moderation.
“I appreciate you saying that, but I have to watch my figure. I’m expecting a big job soon.”
“Oh, really?”
“I’ve always thought this, but people who date Sensei or are close to him must be really strict with themselves, or they’d be pampered and get fat.”
“Haha, what’s that about?”
This was the first time she had mentioned this, and Sora couldn’t help but laugh.
“Hey, Sensei, I have something I want to ask.”
“Hmm?”
“Do you have any plans after this?”
“No, I’m done with work for today, so I’ll just relax at home.”
“I see. I’m finishing university for the day too, so after this shopping, it’ll be back to my place to relax. I really don’t want to say goodbye to you after this.”
“I agree; we should catch up on each other’s lives.”
“Yeah!”
“Well, then… What should we do? Want to go somewhere where we can be alone?”
“Huh…? Like a hotel or something? Don’t turn into a beast all of a sudden…”
She widened her beautiful amethyst-like eyes, completely misunderstanding the situation.
“Wa-wait, that’s not what I meant!! I meant a private room at a restaurant for lunch.”
“Oh, I see. Sorry, I got a bit scared there. Ah, my face is getting hot.”
While looking at the snacks, Nanase raised her hand to her face, muttering an explanation.
“A private room for lunch sounds nice, but, you know… Since we’re buying eggs and meat, wouldn’t somewhere else be better? Going back and forth between my place and Sensei’s after all this shopping might be a bit much.”
“Hmm…”
After considering where would be best, Nanase finally voiced her answer.
“…So, how about Sensei’s place? You should have a refrigerator there, right? That way, I can store what I bought, and we can relax together. You said, ‘I can’t eat two packs of eggs alone,’ so I assume you live alone.”
“Coming to the house of a single guy…?”
“If you think you can attack, go ahead and try. Idiot.”
Nanase, holding a sliced Baumkuchen from the lower shelf, placed it in the shopping basket and then teasingly stuck out her pale pink tongue, saying, “Behh.”
She seemed to be adopting a somewhat cocky attitude, but Sora knew better.
“You got so embarrassed about the hotel misunderstanding.”
“Geez, enough already… Hotels and homes are completely different. I’ve visited Sensei’s house multiple times in the past, remember?”
“That incident seemed like a forced visit…”
“I don’t remember.”
“I see. But you’ve moved out of that house now, right?”
“I know. I happened to stop by there a long time ago, and someone else was living there.”
She emphasized it for some reason, but no one would doubt that chance occurrence.
“Well, for now, is it okay at Sensei’s place?”
“That’s fine, but make sure to let your mom know. She’ll worry.”
“Of course, I’ll do that. I’ve graduated from my old self.”
Her words were more than just lip service, as her current actions would confirm. Even today, she had been running errands for her mother.
“Oh, I just had a good idea.”
“What is it?”
“How about we stop by your place first and move the stuff you bought? That way, it would be more convenient for your mom.”
“That’s certainly true, but today I’m going to indulge my mom a bit. Maybe we can even have some takeout or get delivery,”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah, I want to spend as much time as possible with Sensei today.”
Nanase wore a soft expression as if she were revealing her true feelings.
“Oh, forget I said that just now!…! ei!!”
“Ouch!”
After panicking for a moment, she left a gap, as if she had thought of a good idea, and then delivered a swift and precise kick to the weakest spot.
