- Chapter 25 : Getting chased by a Capture Target
Alright first of all, let’s review the important events for conquering the heroines.
The first heroine, Sheria the Saintess.
The event to win her affection was rescuing her after she was abducted by a cult that values their own beliefs more than gods and despises the ambiguous existence of gods.
The second heroine, Ireina, the daughter of a duke.
Her event arc was fighting alongside her to help her win a duel against her strict father, the captain of the royal knights, in order to gain his recognition.
The third heroine, the princess who is one year older than me.
Her event arc was supporting her empathetically as she is crushed by the pressure of being royalty and intervening in her dispute with her brother who is a prince.
The fourth heroine, Lily, the disciple of a sage.
Her event arc was assisting in research on new magic to report results to her mentor, the sage, and creating original magic that no one knows about.
The fifth heroine, the childhood friend of the protagonist and a commoner by birth.
Her event was rescuing her when she is harassed by nobles, and supporting her to score well on tests.
By going through these events, the favorability rating significantly increases, though there are many minor events, these were the main events in which you can win the affection of capture targets the most.
However, this is only from the perspective of the protagonist’s side. The antagonist, Alba, never had a major role in these actions.
Rather, in every event, Alba acted as an antagonist, which is why there are impending disaster flags in each story.
For instance, the delinquent who bothers the protagonist’s childhood friend is actually Alba, or Alba’s constant mockery of Ireina with “You can’t win”.
You might think that things will be fine if you avoid such actions, but it’s scary to jump to conclusions based solely on speculation when your life is at stake.
Therefore, the best choice is to not get involved. As long as he doesn’t get involved in the main storyline, the death flag won’t be raised.
However, even though he has already become involved with three heroines, he chose not to worry about that for now.
Now, why did he suddenly recall these events?
That’s because…
“Ah! I finally found you, Alba-kun!”
Glossy chestnut hair neatly cut to shoulder length.
Bright and innocent, a face that seems to suit words like lively and vigorous, complemented by delicate features.
She’s about average height, maybe? However, due to her behavior, there’s a certain childlike quality about her.
Her name is Alice — Yuris, the protagonist’s childhood friend and one of the target heroines of this story.
For some reason, this girl was standing in front of him, blocking his way.
‘Oh dear gods… Have I done something wrong?’
He remembered now that he was worried about Mina’s condition and thought of visiting her class yesterday.
Yet, instead of Mina, he encountered another heroine he had no interaction with in the past.
Why was he being accosted all of a sudden? He has not done anything yet to get her attention.
‘…Should I run?’
He was concerned about Mina, but he couldn’t see her in the classroom even though he was looking from the entrance.
So, wouldn’t it be wise to leave this place and distance himself from Alice? If they talked here, then some flags might be raised, and just standing here in this hallway would only attract attention.
But then again, fleeing after being approached by a girl, even if it’s sudden, might not be the best choice—
“Disperse!”
Still, he decided to run.
“Huh? You’re not getting away from me!”
As he turned his back and started running, Alice immediately chased after him.
Using his unique magic, he could easily outpace her, but this is the school building we’re talking about.
If he recklessly uses magic and causes damage to the surroundings, there’s a possibility that his living expenses might be tainted with debt to cover repair costs.
So, he has to run away. If he is caught, it would definitely bring trouble.
‘It’s fine. I’m a guy, so I won’t lose in a chase with a girl like this—’
“What the f—?! How are you so fast!”
“Hehe~! I was faster than anyone else in the village after Yuris, you know! Alright, alright, let’s play tag in this wild route~♪”
“Huh…! Why are you so high-spirited! And wait, was there such a setting?!”
“Setting?”
“I am talking about my situation here!!!”
For now, Alba managed to make some distance and when he saw an open window he placed his right foot on it.
‘It’s fine, we’re on the second floor now. Even if I jump down, I won’t get hurt with this sturdy body.’
So, he decided to jump down, but…
“Gotcha!”
“What?!”
But, before he could go any further by putting force in his legs, he deliberately failed to do it.
Alice’s slender arm wrapped around his waist, holding him tightly in position.
“Seriously, why are you running away from me?”
“I have my own unavoidable circumstances… And, wait, aren’t you the one acting suddenly? We’ve just met, right? The way we’re talking and acting doesn’t match up with two strangers meeting for the first time!”
“It might be the first meeting where we say ‘Nice to meet you~♪’, but I wanted to express my gratitude.”
“Gratitude…?”
Alba gave her a quizzical look.
At that moment, a boy ran over from the background where the students were and came towards them.
“Alice, you shouldn’t run in the hallway!”
“Aww, but it’s just that Alba told—”
“That’s not the issue here!…Sorry, Alba-kun. Alice is—”
Yuris, the protagonist — apologetically lowered his head and decided to pull Alice away from the scene.
Although he was eventually freed from her grip, now not only Alba, the notorious troublemaker, but also the protagonist, someone he would least want to be involved with, had appeared, making Alba’s wry smile cease.
“I just wanted to say thank you…”
“Oh, I see. That’s why you’ve been looking for Alba since morning.”
“Well, if you accept that, it’s a problem for me…”
Alba felt alienated, not understanding why he was suddenly being thanked. However, Yuris didn’t pay attention to her muttering and scanned the surroundings.
The infamous Alba, who seemed like a delinquent, and Alice and Yuris, who looked exceptionally well-featured.
Perhaps due to them suddenly running inside the school building, students in the vicinity were now turning their attention towards them and whispering.
“Anyway, shall we change the location for now? It’s break time, so let’s go somewhere with fewer people.”
“Oh, so there’s no option but to disperse.”
*Sigh* Alba let out a heavy sigh.
While he would prefer to turn around and leave right now, he didn’t know how my decreased favorability would affect the story.
Therefore, since he has come this far, I have no choice but to obediently follow—so Alba thought, with teary eyes, and followed behind the two.
“In the end, I couldn’t meet Mina, and now it’s the worst—”
“Oh, Al-kun! You were here!”
“Weren’t you taking a lecture just now?”
“Both of you, what are—”
On the other hand, Alba had quite a pleasant experience.
