The Strongest Villain, Who Had Secluded Himself Deep in the Mountains To Avoid the Destruction Flag, Is Forced Onto the Main Stage by the Heroine He Helped - Chapter 2 : Saintess and Villian
Alba ran away from his home two years ago.
It took him a year to assess the current situation and steal some gemstones and money. He escaped from the mansion when the security was the weakest and everyone was asleep.
One might wonder if it’s okay for the Duke’s son to disappear out of the blue, but whether it’s good or bad, there was no problem with it.
Perhaps he was disliked so much by his own family that no search request was made till date, and when some time had passed, he was treated as if he had died.
Alba had already sensed that atmosphere even when he was in the mansion, he was treated like an outcast, which is why he decided to leave, while he was thinking, “No way to turn things around, right?”
Even if the notorious Alba went to a distant place, there was a possibility of being recognized if he walked around leisurely. So, he used a magical tool to dye his naturally golden hair to a platinum-white shade, and then later bought an abandoned mountain hut that no one had used for decades. He chose to live a self-sufficient life away from everyone’s sight.
And, about half a year after settling down…
Alba by pure coincidence had finally met one of the heroines…
“Saintess-sama, please run awa—Gah?!”
With a thud, a knight fell to the ground and died on the spot.
It was just an obscure roadside, with an open and clear view. The road seemed well-maintained, indicating that many people used it. However, there was no sign of anyone walking on the road or resting to take a breather.
There was only one carriage, and a figure dressed in black from head to toe was attacking a girl who was wearing a white rob with eccentric golden patterns and her face had an expression of fear as multiple corpses surrounded the vicinity.
And after a moment, another corpse fell down right infront of her eyes.
The only one to react to that fact was the girl wearing the saintess’s robe.
“N-No way…”
The girl who was known as the Saintess, Sheria, turned her frightened eyes towards the numerous corpses around her.
How many times has this happened? Just going on a journey to visit churches, her life was constantly in danger. The reason was simple and easy to understand.
She was the Saintess, one who was widely worshiped in the world, and in terms of influence in the religion she is second only to the pope.
A person like her, staying in a country, could exert tremendous influence over other nations, making every country want to have her. Even if it meant using immoral or forced means—anything would be done to take her on their side.
Sheria had been targeted by various countries.
In the situation where she had to go on to visit various places repeatedly, numerous assassins were sent after her and her life was always in danger.
This time was no different. Once again, people with ulterior motives who were trying to capture Sheria showed up again.
‘Why me…?’
At that time, Sheria was only thirteen years old. She wasn’t particularly mentally strong, nor was she an adult. She was still at an age where one could call her a child.
If such a young girl was constantly targeted for her life, it was exhausting to the point where it weakened her self resolve.
She had nothing to counteract it except for the power bestowed upon her by the Goddess.
She had had enough…
Seeing the assassins approaching the carriage, Sheria’s tears overflowed as she thought that her life was truly over now.
But suddenly…
“Don’t bully girls too much, you scoundrels!”
—Thud!!
Suddenly, one of the approaching assassins was blown away sideways.
What had suddenly happened? Not just the assassins, but even Sheria couldn’t hide her surprise.
However, as if ignoring those doubts, a young boy appeared before Sheria.
He boy had a face of a similar age to hers and had neatly trimmed short white hair.
‘Where did he come from?’ Sheria’s doubts only grew.
‘Is he also an assassin?’ But the expression he turned towards her didn’t seem like someone who appeared with such intentions.
Meanwhile the boy who had suddenly appeared was completely baffled when he saw the girl who had an astonished expression on her face.
‘Huh? I feel like I’ve seen this face somewhere… Wait… Could she be one of the heroines?! No, there’s no way I would forget that face!”
The boy started to massage his temple on his head as soon as he appeared.
‘Unbelievable… I tried my best not to get involved with the capture targets. Oh well, I guess the world won’t abandon me, huh? Even if it’s an annoying sense of justice!’
The original story of “Clearana Fantasy,” started when the main characters had joined the academy. Therefore, the events before the protagonist and heroines entered the school were not depicted at all in the game.
Sheria didn’t know that this world was a game world, nor did she know that being able to participate in the game meant that she could survive this situation due to some reason.
On the other hand, the boy also didn’t know that these events would take place at this location. He didn’t know that the heroine was in a crisis on this road. He didn’t know that if he helped the girl here, he would get involved with one of the capture targets.
But it was already too late.
The boy let out a deep sigh and clenched his fists.
“Well, there’s no helping it once I am involved with the story. Let’s clean this mess first.”
The assassins also advanced without saying a word.
They undoubtedly saw the boy as their enemy. Allat once, each of them charged toward the boy, with dangerous weapons in hand.
However, in the next moment, a sound like something bursting accompanied a flash of light, and one of the assassins’ heads was snapped back.
It was as if something had struck his neck with a force surpassing the durability of bones…
“Too fast, huh? It’s not like I ran away from my home for nothing, you know?”
The boy swung his leg right in front of the fallen assassin.
The remaining assassins showed brief looks of surprise, but soon one of them was kicked in the abdomen and sent flying.
One after another, in just a matter of seconds, all the assassins were defeated.
“Huh?” Sheria couldn’t comprehend what had just happened.
But the fact remained that assassins who had more than enough strength to kill the elite guards accompanying her had been effortlessly defeated.
She couldn’t help but be astonished at the events that happened before her own eyes.
Then, the boy slowly approached Sheria and said,
“Are you okay… Well, it seems like you are. Sorry for not being able to help your companions.”
Looking embarrassed, the boy scratched his head.
Sheria could tell from this gesture alone that he had no intention of harming her.
And so, the tension in her heart gave way, and tears welled up in her eyes.
“I… don’t want this anymore…”
To witness people dying right in front of her, to be targeted herself.
To go through the same thing over and over again.
The feelings she had held back all this time finally collapsed.
Of course, she was just an ordinary girl, even though she was called a saint.
The fact that she had endured this much was already impressive enough.
But Sheria didn’t know what lay ahead.
That a young boy who would later be called the protagonist would appear and save her.
If she could just hold on for a few more years, she wouldn’t have to go through these feelings.
What she did know was that the one who had saved her was a platinum-white haired boy.
And that she would probably be targeted again in the future.
“Ah… Sorry, I don’t really understand your situation,” the boy said in confusion.
He gently patted Sheria’s head to reassure that she was now safe.
“Would you like to come with me?”
“Huh?”
“No, no! I didn’t mean it in a suspicious way! I mean, we’re both too young to do anything, right? I’m not in any position to say this, and neither are you! But… well.”
As if flustered, the boy flashed a slightly troubled smile.
For some reason, it contained a warmth that seeped into Sheria’s weakened heart.
“I think it’s okay for someone who has worked hard to take a break. Instead of pushing yourself until you cry, it might be better to stop crying and keep going, while laughing and enjoying your life to the fullest. It just feels like that suits you…”
In the end, Sheria took the boy’s words to her heart.
She explained her reasons to the church and informed them that she would take a break from her duties for a while, then she rolled into the boy’s mountain hut and started living with him.
She later found out that the boy who had helped her was a person who was hated by many and his name was Alba.
However, it didn’t matter to Sheria… At that moment, she was already drawn to him.
Not to the protagonist, but to a villain.
