- Chapter 1: The Worst and Best Villain Reincarnation
The MMORPG [Monochrome Sword].
It was a PC game released as a so-called classic fantasy title, but it was also the work that reigned at the glorious number one spot, surpassing all conventional MMORPGs.
What made Monochrome Sword so fascinating?
Even for me, a fanatical fan, that would be difficult to explain.
The main scenario?
The voice acting cast?
The system?
The graphics?
The music?
All of these seemed correct yet wrong at the same time.
Still, more than a million people played Monochrome Sword, causing a massive boom throughout Japan.
I too was captivated by Monochrome Sword, to the point where I achieved first place in the overall player rankings.
I swept away countless formidable opponents, created various battle strategies, and stirred up excitement in the game world time and again.
I discovered hidden elements and items not listed on the official website one after another, and everyone called me the strongest player.
It was truly enjoyable.
Work, overtime, social obligations.
I wanted to savor that moment of liberation from those constraints forever.
——What if the game world were reality?
There wasn’t a day I didn’t think about that.
However, a turning point came for me.
It was one early morning.
When I opened my eyes as usual—an unfamiliar world spread before me.
No matter where I looked—up, down, left, or right—there were only scenes I had no memory of.
At first, I was genuinely shocked. I seriously worried that I had somehow ended up somewhere unknown.
But that anxiety was immediately shattered.
More precisely, it was painted over by new astonishment.
Because that place was—the world of the game I had loved.
☆
The Salvatore ducal family.
That was where I had been reincarnated.
I deduced this from information I heard from my parents, who occasionally came to see me, and the maids who took care of me, shortly after I was born.
The Salvatore ducal family was one of the three great ducal houses appearing in Monochrome Sword. A clan of geniuses excelling in martial prowess.
If my memory served me correctly, the successive heads of the Salvatore family were called the [Heavenly Sword], the strongest swordsmen in the empire, or something like that.
I wasn’t entirely certain about the main scenario since my memory was somewhat vague. But the fact that my name was Luca Salvatore said it all.
According to the maids, I was apparently the youngest among my many siblings. At first, I mentally screamed, “Seriously?! Fuck!”
The reason? Simply because I had been reincarnated into The Salvatore ducal family.
What made The Salvatore ducal family the worst was… this clan was undoubtedly the villain faction in Monochrome Sword’s main scenario.
The entire clan upheld a meritocracy mindset, and those with low abilities were mercilessly killed, even if they were family members. Well, they didn’t exactly get killed—they’d die on their own during the trials they were subjected to. And no one would mourn their deaths.
The Salvatore ducal family was seriously screwed up.
If a normal person had been reincarnated into this clan, they would have bitten their tongue and tried the reincarnation gacha again.
However, unfortunately for me, I was different. Though I nearly despaired at first, when I thought about it carefully, I rejoiced.
Because The Salvatore ducal family was an officially cheating clan. More than half of the users who played the game knew this.
——These guys’ specs were abnormal.
Their overall stats surpassed all NPCs, and they were so high-level that they could only be defeated in guaranteed-win scenarios.
Almost all of them had excellent equipment, making them stronger than mediocre PVP rankers. They were truly monsters.
Once, the developers held a war-type event where they pitted these guys against all players, but the difficulty was so high that nearly ninety percent of participating users died. Only the remaining ten percent of hardcore players obtained the event rewards, causing quite the uproar.
Well, they had been enhanced beyond their normal strength for that event. It was understandable, if you think about it.
Incidentally, I was among that remaining ten percent. For a while, I was chased around by players who had died, begging me to “sell them” the rewards.
But anyway, back to the topic.
I had now been reincarnated as the youngest child of that cheat clan—probably a mob character whose name never even appeared in the game.
In the main scenario, this clan met a bad end where they were defeated by the protagonist and players and wiped out entirely… but heh. Not bad.
A bad ending would be troublesome, but if I had enough strength to overturn it, there wouldn’t be a problem, right?
As the old saying goes:
——Blow away anyone who gets in your way.
So I decided at that moment.
To pursue strength once again in this beloved world. To reach the pinnacle of power and massacre anyone who stood in my way, even if it was the original protagonist.
Kukuku. Perfect. The guaranteed physical specs of Luca Salvatore, combined with the vast knowledge I had accumulated over more than five years.
If I utilized these, I could win against anyone, no matter who they were. If I aimed for the top without ever giving up or compromising, I would become the sword that reaches even the heavens.
Even when I was playing the game, there were plenty of underhanded players.
The abnormal siblings of The Salvatore ducal family.
The protagonist and heroines who would eventually stand in my way.
And other villains who might become obstacles.
I would blow them all away just like in the game, and live for my own sake.
I am the only one worthy of respect in heaven and earth.
I grinned while dribbling urine from my lower half.
For now, I should cry “Waaaaah!” Someone please change my diaper…
