Chapter 2: Training Begins!
Episode 13: First Master and Training Grounds
The day after I, who was supposed to be a “Jobless,” became the disciple of three S-rank adventurers and started living together with them.
Even though my health was perfectly fine, we decided to start training in the afternoon. However, before that, a significant issue arose.
“Huh? Obviously, I, specializing in close combat, should be the first to lead the practice.”
“Huh? (Since I might gain favor as the first master, I can’t back down.) It has to be me.”
“What nonsense! I, with experience in training newcomers, should naturally take the lead in guidance.”
“Don’t be absurd! You’ve never raised anything other than ‘Elven,’ ‘Mage-type,’ ‘women’! This ‘Jobless’ human male is a first for me, and there’s not much difference with us!”
Perhaps due to becoming disciples just yesterday, it seemed the three hadn’t decided on a training strategy. In the living room just after a light lunch, the three masters glared at each other, on the verge of a showdown over who would instruct me first.
Honestly, I was happy that they were seriously considering me, but the problem was elsewhere.
“It’s me!”
“Eh!?”
“It’s me~!”
“Hyauu!?”
“I said it’s me!”
“Au!?”
Rudmila pulled me with what seemed like wind magic, then Telemia forcefully embraced me, and just when I thought that, Leone grabbed my shoulder, pulling me away.
Each time, I felt the soft parts of Leone, Rudmila, and Telemia touch me, a pleasant fragrance lingering, and I could only let out weird screams with a bright red face.
“Well, you lived with girls at the orphanage, so this should be fine,” I thought, but… this is a bit too embarrassing…
Originally, the orphanage had a mixed-gender communal life, and since I didn’t pay much attention to it, becoming an apprentice to S-rank adventurers, especially living with these beautiful older women, made me acutely aware of the situation. The realization, along with their pleasant fragrances, overwhelmed me, and my head spun.
Unable to escape because of Leone and others’ formidable strength, I stumbled, my heart pounding, and in a state of confusion, just as I was about to lose consciousness,
“…This won’t lead to a conclusion. Well, it can’t be helped. Let’s decide fairly.”
Rudmila said so, and Telemia and Leone agreed, finally releasing me. I was relieved.
…But my relief was short-lived.
Stare——
“…Eh!?”
The three breathtakingly beautiful women stared at me intensely from close range.
“Um, what exactly is this…?”
Unable to comprehend, I could only let out a voice that seemed to disappear.
Suddenly, Leone smiled, revealing her fangs,
“Heh, I guess I’m suited to be the first master after all.”
“Tch, well, fine. Anyway, teaching magic skills from scratch will take some time to prepare. Besides, there are ways to shorten the distance without direct guidance.”
“Hmph, well, close combat is the basis of all ‘job classes,’ and unavoidable. Well, if I couldn’t be the first master, I couldn’t. There are other ways.”
Though quite reluctantly, Leone’s words were agreed upon by Rudmila and Telemia. I was surprised at how quickly the situation had changed from the turmoil just a while ago.
“Uh, why did this happen so suddenly…?”
“We observed your progress.”
To my question, Leone answered with a pleased expression.
“You’ve been swinging your sword quite a bit, right? It’s rough, but the basics are there. It’s easier to build on a foundation, and when you see results, it boosts motivation for the entire training. In other words, focusing on improving close combat is the best approach for you now. All three of us agree.”
“…!”
I felt a somewhat ticklish joy at her words. It seemed that Leone, Rudmila, and Telemia were genuinely considering what would be best for me.
“Now that the direction is set, let’s start training little by little!”
“Yes!”
Finally, the training by the S-rank adventurers was about to begin! In response to Leone’s strong voice, I enthusiastically replied. However, at that moment, a question arose in my mind.
Where exactly would this training take place?
I recalled a promise made yesterday when I became their disciple, emphasizing that my apprenticeship would remain a secret.
The three S-rank adventurers, who are known to be troublesome, had apparently already left Basclavia for various reasons, wanting to keep a low profile for my training. However, this raised the question of the training location.
This house, bought by Leone and others, is a three-story wooden structure with intricate layouts. It’s relatively large, but there’s no discreet outdoor space for training.
Secret training often takes place around the city’s perimeter, but even there, the constant threat of monsters makes it quite noticeable. The remaining option would be places like grasslands far from the city, but going there every day would be too troublesome.
When I voiced my question to Leone and the others,
“Oh, right, we didn’t mention it.”
Suddenly, Rudmila tore up the living room floor.
What!?
On closer inspection, it was a hidden door, revealing a staircase leading underground.
“This house is for discreet entry and exit to fool onlookers; the main residence is elsewhere.”
“Elsewhere…?”
Perplexed, I followed the three into the underground passage. After walking for a while and going up another staircase, what unfolded before my eyes was a mansion with a spacious garden that could be mistaken for a royal villa.
“Wa… what!?”
I was left speechless by the excessively luxurious mansion. Um, this mansion is even larger than the biggest estate in the aristocratic district near the adventurer school… I looked at Leone and the others, seeking an explanation.
“Oh, since it’s located away from the aristocratic district, it hasn’t found a buyer yet.”
“Eh? Is that so?”
“If we persuaded them, they would have sold it. But with the three of us pooling our money, we got a good base for a low price. We made a good deal.”
Wait, S-rank adventurers’ financial power…
(Am I… picked up by really incredible people?)
Staring at what was probably the most luxurious mansion in the city, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed.
