- V1Ch7: The Arrival of the World's Strongest Warriors
The scene opens with Cross wandering aimlessly through the city, lost in thought. Meanwhile, in the grand office of the headmaster, Sariella, she stands before the imposing doors, desperately praying to the heavens above.
“Please let it be that those three have already returned by some caprice of fate…! Or that the rumors of their arrival were some kind of mistake…!”
Sariella tightly closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and prays with all her might before opening the doors of the office.
However, her prayers were in vain.
“Finally, you show up,” said one of the three beautiful women, each with their own distinct character, lounging in Sariella’s office, each from a different background.
The redhead, with two horns protruding from her head, sat rudely on the work desk. The blonde, radiating a rational aura, sat in the headmaster’s chair, flipping through the room’s books without permission. The black-haired woman, exuding a gloomy and decadent atmosphere, lay down lazily on the sofa.
It was an unimaginable scene. Surely, it was not appropriate to be doing such things in the private quarters of Sariella, a prominent figure as an A-class adventurer and lord of Bascurbia.
However, instead of shouting or getting angry, Sariella sighed, seeming exasperated or resigned, and muttered, “What did you come here for, anyway?”
The red-haired woman sitting on the desk bared her fangs and asked, “What’s up with you? You made us wait so long, and now you’re not even greeting us properly? Have you forgotten how much you owe us?”
“What do you mean by owe? While it is true that your activities as S-class adventurers are remarkable, the guild has had to clean up after you more times than not,” Sariella retorted.
Sariella was referring to the countless incidents that this trio had caused, such as blowing up the mansion of a powerful local noble, or destroying a city in the Eastern Empire. It seemed like there was no end to the trouble they brought to her door.
Sariella took a deep breath, clearly exhausted from dealing with these problem children frequently over the years.
“Anyway, I’m busy now. I don’t have time to deal with troublemakers like you.” When Sariella heard from the guild staff that the three had come to visit, she had lied that she was running around for the city’s security. But it was just a fabrication to avoid them.
Behold, before you stand the three most powerful beings in the world: the Destruction Warlord of the Dragonia, Leone Burnedge; the Disaster Archwizard of the High Elves, Ludmila Hailstorm; and the Dark Priest Highend of the Norlife King, Telomere Clayblood. They are S-class adventurers, the highest ranking in the world, and among the mere nine people who have mastered all five stages of the Job Class, including the ultimate Celestial Job. These monsters are now standing before Sariera, and if even one of them were to attack, she would be doomed. But with all three of them together, there is no hope.
“What is it you want?” Sariera asks, wanting to quickly finish their business and send them on their way.
“We have various requests, but for now, we need a hero,” Leone responds, surprising Sariera.
“What do you mean?” she asks, perplexed.
“A hero who has come to this town to complete their training. If they show promise, one of us will act as their mentor. So bring them to us immediately,” Ludmila explains.
Sariera is shocked. These three powerful beings, who would usually ignore any request that did not suit them, are now offering to mentor a hero for no apparent reason. She cannot believe their intentions are pure.
However, Telomere calmly responds to her suspicions, “We simply want the hero, a trump card of the humans, to become stronger. That is all.”
Sariera’s suspicions continue to rise. These three beings could not possibly be doing something like this out of the goodness of their hearts. There must be a catch.
Even if, by some miracle, they were truly interested in helping the hero, it would be problematic. Being a mentor is more than just teaching skills and techniques. It also requires a good personality and the ability to lead.
Sariera knows that these three beings are self-centered and loyal only to their own interests. She is sure that there is something else going on here.
For now, Sariera has no choice but to comply with their request. But she is on guard and determined to find out what is really going on.
The descendant of a hero, known as the treasure of the Almeria Kingdom and the trump card of the human race, has been tainted by these people. This is the end… the world is ending. As for Sariela, she absolutely does not want to meet them.
However…
“What’s with this guy suddenly getting quiet? Don’t tell me you don’t plan on meeting the hero?”
“Torture… no, if it’s interrogation, leave it to me, the .”
“Stop it, you two. We’ll continue to rely on Professor Sariela. I’ll settle it with my personal belongings in this room, the school’s high-end items, or perhaps by taking a staff member as a hostage.”
They won’t be able to keep silent for long. Sariela pretended to break, called for the kingdom’s army to move out, and if possible, requested her father’s help. But as she desperately tried to think about how long it would take for them to arrive…
Boom!
The principal’s office, no, the entire town shook. And it wasn’t just a small tremor. It was like a huge volcanic eruption had occurred in the center of the town, and the principal’s office was hit by the impact.
“What…!?”
Sariela reflexively looked out the window. And she was speechless. In the direction of the redevelopment district, something unbelievable had appeared under the blue sky, where the Harvest Festival was being held.
A semi-liquid body like rotten mud, with countless heads that evoke a sense of physiological fear. At the tips of these heads were several dragon heads, symbols of destruction, that were still growing in number.
“It can’t be… the Poison Slime Hydra!?”
This was a super-high-level monster with a recommended danger level of 8 that A-class adventurer parties were supposed to defeat. Its body almost nullifies physical attacks, and the venom it produces damages anything it touches. It has a cheating-level regenerative ability that repeats infinite super-speed regeneration as long as its nucleus, which moves at high speed within its body, is not destroyed.
Originally, it was a powerful monster that should only appear very rarely in the depths of a hidden place called a “magic accumulation area.” That such a thing had suddenly appeared in the town was already an abnormal situation that defied common sense.
“What’s with that unbelievable size…!?”
The one that appeared in the redevelopment district was not comparable to the usual Poison Slime Hydra. Its massive body, shaped like a vase, seemed to continue to expand, swallowing up the entire redevelopment district, and the height of the countless heads growing from it exceeded that of the castle walls.
Above all, the thickest neck that grew from the center of the body was the most enormous. If that neck were to be cut off, about a tenth of the town would be instantly leveled. It was that large…
As the top-ranked adventurer governing this town, I have a mountain of responsibilities to fulfill. Even though those three are strong enough to defeat a risk level of 9, considering the human casualties in the town, it’s inevitable that they will face a tough battle.
In order to make the fight as easy as possible for those three and, above all, to prevent further damage, Saliera needs to evacuate the residents as quickly as possible. Just then, a Guild staff member rushes in with a panicked look on their face.
“Headmistress! Something terrible has happened!”
Saliera quickly responds, “I know! Gather all the teachers and staff right away to deal with that monster-“
“No, it’s different!”
“What…?”
“We’ve confirmed a large movement of monsters coming towards us from the direction of the ‘Abyssal Forest’ in the north of Vasculbia! There are more than 4,000 of them, and their average risk level is unknown! It’s a stampede of rampaging beasts!”
“What!? That’s ridiculous! What were the observation team doing!?”
“Until this morning, there was no abnormality detected.”
“A sudden stampede of rampaging beasts!? This is impossible… It’s not a coincidence. There’s a human element involved.”
However, there’s no time to consider such things now. “We have no choice…! Leave the Poison Slime Hydra to the three S-rankers, and forcibly summon all adventurers ranked B or higher to the north of the town! Class C or lower should focus on evacuating the residents! Quickly spread the word throughout the town!”
“Yes, ma’am!”
Following Saliera’s orders, the staff runs to the sound mages. “What a disaster…!” Saliera says with a strained voice as she leaves the room to confirm the situation in the town.
