Chapter 19: Her Chest Pressed Against My Back
The five of us were walking down the hallway, heading back to the classroom, when it happened.
From around the corner, a boy suddenly came barreling toward us at full speed.
He was probably someone who’d gotten held up and was now desperate to grab lunch.
He wasn’t even looking where he was going.
And of course, the one standing closest to the edge—Miyu—was the unlucky one who took the hit.
With the difference in size and the force of his momentum, her small body was sent flying, crashing hard onto the hallway floor.
A sharp scream rang out through the corridor.
“Watch where you’re going, idiot! Get outta the way!”
The boy snapped without even checking who he’d just slammed into.
But the instant he realized the girl sprawled on the ground was one of the Fives, his face went pale.
Miyu was still conscious, but the shock and pain kept her down.
The rest of us rushed over, voices tumbling over each other in panic.
“Chigira-san, don’t move! Can you hear me?”
“Y-Yes…”
Her reply was sluggish, but her mind was clear.
She’d managed to throw her arms out as she fell, so at least there didn’t seem to be any risk of a concussion.
Still, there was no telling what kind of damage the impact might have caused.
“Can you talk? Do you feel pain anywhere?”
“I’m fine… really, don’t make it such a big deal.”
Even then, forcing a brave face, she insisted she was okay.
But the fact that she couldn’t sit up right away said it all—there was definitely pain.
“Someone, go get the nurse right now!”
I raised my voice above the noise.
It was the tail end of lunch break, so the hallway was packed with students returning from the cafeteria. In no time, a crowd had gathered around us.
With so many witnesses—and with the blame being one hundred percent on the boy—plus the fact that the victim was none other than Miyu Chigira of the Fives, the mood instantly turned against him.
Unable to take the pressure, the boy shoved his way through the crowd and bolted.
He’d not only injured their best friend, but hadn’t even offered a proper apology. That alone was enough to ignite the fury of the other three Fives.
“Don’t you dare run!”
“You’re gonna apologize, no matter what!”
Hari and Hinawa immediately took off after him.
“Kizuki-shi, sorry, but Miyu’s in your care.”
“Wait—don’t do anything reckless!”
My protest fell on deaf ears. Even Platina had dashed off after them.
“Chigira-san, just stay put for now. The nurse will be here any second.”
“I’m fine. I can walk on my own… besides, causing a scene is embarrassing.”
True to her words, Miyu tried to sit up without anyone’s help—only for sharp pain to stab through her body.
“Ahh—ouch!” She cried out and lost her balance.
I reacted on instinct, catching her in my arms.
“Sorry for touching you without asking. But don’t push yourself.”
“Thanks… then, could you support me a little?”
“Of course. Just lean on me as much as you need.”
She let all the strength drain from her body and leaned fully against me.
Judging by how she moved, she must’ve hurt her back when she hit the floor.
Just then, a group of baseball guys from our class happened to walk by—the same ones I’d helped with test prep.
“Kizuki, what’s going on? Everything alright?”
“Perfect timing. Sorry, but could you carry Chigira-san to the nurse’s office?”
I asked without hesitation.
With their strength, I’d feel completely at ease leaving her in their care.
“Leave it to us! Chigira-san, think you can climb onto my back?”
One of them crouched down right away, offering his back.
“S-Sorry. Could I rest like this a little longer? I’d rather stay with Kizuki-kun for now, if that’s okay…”
Her voice was so faint, so fragile, that refusing her wasn’t an option.
Since it was her wish, the only choice left was for me to carry her myself.
“Sorry, then. The three Fives went chasing after that guy who ran. If anything happens, I’d feel better knowing you guys were there to back them up. Could I leave that to you?”
“Like we’d ever say no to our buddy Kizuki! Alright, team—let’s go!”
Without a single complaint, the baseball squad dashed off to reinforce the girls.
Not long after, the school nurse arrived and checked Miyu’s condition.
Once she gave the okay, it was decided that I’d carry her on my back to the infirmary.
The moment I actually hoisted her up, though—
I was struck by the shocking sensation of her chest pressing firmly against me.
Contrary to her petite, delicate frame, the weight and fullness were undeniable.
The gap between what I’d vaguely imagined by sight and the real thing… was on a completely different level.
“You okay? I’m not too heavy, am I?”
“You’re not heavy. That’s not the issue.”
I leaned forward awkwardly, trying to create a little distance between us.
“Won’t your back give out if you stay in such a weird position?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“But—ah!”
She still hadn’t fully recovered her strength, and nearly slipped on my back.
Panicking, she clung to my neck—pressing her entire upper body tightly against me.
Great. Exactly what I was trying to avoid.
Don’t think about it. Don’t think about it.
“I’ll walk faster.”
“No… it’s scary, so please go slowly.”
Because she asked so quietly, rushing wasn’t an option.
I forced my brain into neutral and kept walking.
“…Do you think I’m sweaty? That must be gross…”
“You’re injured. Don’t even worry about that. Chigira-san, you’re fine. Just hang in there a little longer.”
The nurse’s office was almost in sight.
“Even though it’s embarrassing… I don’t mind if it’s you, Kizuki-kun.”
She whispered that right by my ear.
She clearly knew her chest was pressed against me—knew I was rattled by it.
Her words seeped in like a sweet poison, making my head spin.
“Y’know… I’ve never been good with men.”
Miyu murmured softly, almost to herself.
“If being carried by me makes you uncomfortable, then I’m really sorry.”
“No, that’s not it. Other boys are rough and scary… but with you, Kizuki-kun, there’s no pressure. I feel safe.”

Is this gonna be one of those series where MC is wishy washy the whole time and ends up emotionally hurting all the love interests but 1?
He doesn’t seem to be the type to be wishy-washy. Honestly, in these situations, a harem ending is the best option but right now idk what the author will go for.
